Thanks for the warm welcome guys!  Grin

@cystem glitch

That's a good idea.  I'm still preparing pages for my past personal projects, but I guess a little linkage can hardly hurt.

i almost thought that that was your portfolio, my goodness Smiley

Heh, I wish!  Someone with a portfolio like that could probably Feng Shui their will on the world at a whim, and set breakpoints in real life... Like Neo.

Hi,

I'm Simon. I'm a musician and game designer.

I got introduced to gaming through the Genesis the Game Boy as a child. However, my first real love of games blossomed with late 90's PC RPG's such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.

The first game I ever made was called Bears N' Diamondz in one of the first iterations of Game Maker. It kind of sucked but I was damn proud of it.

I recently teamed up with a long-time friend and my girlfriend to make a game. So far we're about a month into our first project.

I look forward to discussing indie games with all of you. hopefully you will be able to see some of our work soon around the forums.

Hello Epileptic,

My name is Robin Sommer, I'm turning 26 next month and I live in Amsterdam.

On weekdays I work in a hairsalon as assistant, something I never imagined myself doing, but I really think it's fun. I went to the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, which is an art academy with a heavy emphasize on concept. Before that the Graphic Lyceum in Rotterdam where I did the Animation & Games course, this school was more commercially oriented.
I quit at the Rietveld, I went through a rough patch, but I was welcome to come back. I didn't though, I started DJ'ing in the club where I worked at that time. After two years I did try to go back to school and I chose for the Game Art course at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht. This was a big disappointment so I quit again.

I grew up near Rotterdam with a NES, the console was given to me by my parents for my birthday and I remember standing up at six in the morning to play some Mario. My love for Nintendo grew and later on I got a Gameboy Color, a N64 (with Pokémon Stadium), a GameCube and a Wii. Now I'm mostly playing indie games on my PC or Zelda on my 3DS.

Immersive games is what I love the most. Secrets, adventures, exploration and becoming a hero. I draw inspiration from horrorflicks, traveling in trains and watching nature documentairies.

I have been working on a game for two years now, not fulltime, but when I felt like it. The game changed a lot and I started from scratch a couple of times. The story was something I had some problems with, being to ambitious. Also I did not have the right tools for some time.

Here's a preview:

Now I'm almost done with the prototype, the story is written and I'm doing it 'the right way' now. It's hard for me to finish a game, finish anything really (I have ADD). But I keep trying, mostly daydreaming..

Hey, forum!

My name is Artur Aguiar and I'm from Brazil.
I am currently studying computer science at Virginia Tech in the United States. A dream came true when I got accepted. I'm also an officer in the "gaming club" there, a collection of people that like making games.

I've loved playing games since I was a little kid. I think that the first game I've ever played was Super Mario World for the SNES when my sister got it for christmas (she's older).

I bought almost all gaming systems and played a LOT of their games since then. I even started learning English by playing Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of time. Smiley

I am really happy that I got to study what I loved. If I couldn't go to the US I would probably be VERY worried about whether I would be able to get a good job or not after college. I'm not saying that Brazil doesn't have a market for that, I'm just saying that there is still a long way to go for a good one.

I'm trying to make a 2D platformer right now in C++. The programming that I did is working well so far, but I'm having trouble finding artists that want to help me with it for the experience (I posted on the forums about it). Smiley

Here is a screenshot that still looks kinda bad (lol):

Hello, I'm JJoseph, Joseph being my RL middle name.

I went to college for computer programming and specialized in Java, though I have some experience with ActionScript.  I currently have a non-programming job.  I enjoy programming, very very much, and hope to get some project off the ground in the near future.

I'm rather shy, but I hope we'll be getting along.

Thank you for your time.

I'm Rémi, a 23 years old french Game Design student! I decided to create my own games after learning programming!

I like prototyping and participating to game jams! Gomez

Recently I did "Gravity"(http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=11804) for the last Ludum Dare, and I juste released Sphere(http://www.remiboutin.com/projectsphere/en/sphere.html), a 6 students-project based on trajectory transmission!

Hi Im Matt, a 26 year old indie game developer.

We've recently started our company Byte Sized Wombat with my mate Aaron. We are currently working on our first game and are wanting to see what peoples reactions are to it so far.

Aaron is the main programmer, and Im the artist. I've participated in one of the tig comps so far and still hoping to get to do more in the future.

So feel free to check out our site, I will post a thread in devlog about our game aswell for people to see and comment on.

I'm pretty old and am basically trying to stuff a BA in Computer Science with a minor in game development int my skull in my spare time.  Really, the economy has made me interested in pursuing my entrepreneurial side.

I've been playing games since blowing on cartridges was suppose to be super effective (Maybe a little before then.)  Wink

Hope to interact more with the community now that I feel I'm making some progress with my first game attempt.

Hi, I'm Jesse and I'm crazy enough to work on an RPG for my first game. Ever since I was a little kid, and my mind was blown by the idea that I could select my attacks from a menu, RPG's have been my favorite genre. So after some time fiddling with smaller projects that never went anywhere, I decided to just take the plunge and make a dungeon crawler. I look forward to when my first game is done and I can call myself an indie game developer.

Hey everyone,

My name is Sean and the studio I was employed by was acquired late May.  Instead of taking my new job offer, I decided to chase my dream of starting a game company, so that's what I've done!

We're called Bit By Bit Studios and the "we" refers to only me at the moment, but I hope to team up with an artist or two from here to help me out with my first game.  In the mean time, I'm doing tools development for the Unity Asset Store.  I look forward to hanging around here from time to time! Beer!

Hi guys! I'm one more person who's interested in creating games. I am a technical person (hardware electronics designer by trade), but my programming skills could politely be called "minimal."

The aspects of game design to which I'm drawn are more about experience, immersion, and exploration, than action or story. I'm especially interested in procedural worlds and emergent gameplay, where instead of cramming a game with tons of items and weapons, a small number of powerful mechanics work together with the player's lateral thinking to create interesting ad unique experiences. I also like the idea of a world that's interactive enough (with itself) that stories emerge without the game designer specifically having written them.

All that said, my level of ability currently doesn't allow me to pursue all of those complex ideas. Wink So I'm working on less complex things for now. I'm mainly working in Unity3d.

Hi everyone, I'm Trevor "AlexanderZero" West, although my real middle name is actually Alexander. XD

Anyways, I've been interested in game development since middle school, and my first game was programmed on a graphing calculator when I should have been paying attention in math class... Anyways, I've finally started making real headway on an actual game that someone would want to play for real (not just another one of my unfinished junk projects). Here's a screenshot!

I have a developer blog at alexdeveloper.wordpress.com.

More about me, I'm 22 now and I just graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona. I may not be much of an artist, but I have a lot of good gameplay ideas. The most important thing in a game for me is for it to have a precise engine. I hate it when I play a game and can't tell where the hitboxes are supposed to be. I would enjoy making a career out of game design, but it isn't a necessity for me either. Of course, if it does work out I won't resist it!

Hi, my name is Aaron C. Smith! I'm a 30 year old programmer, and I develop games as a hobby. Like the rest of you fine people, I've loved games for as long as I remember.

I'm currently working on finishing my first solo game project which will be released for the iPhone.  Hopefully I'll get to share more about it with you soon!
