Hello there,

I'm Chanon. Been running my game studio Viqua Games (http://www.viquagames.com) full-time for about 6 years now.

We've done a lot of 'casually' PC stuff, but also some unique iPhone games such as UltraDeep http://bit.ly/UltraDeep and Zombie Escape http://bit.ly/ZombieEscape (published by Chillingo).

We're currently working on a web-based rpg game which will hopefully come out soon.

I've been lurking for a while and thought it's time to start posting. I love trying out new indie games and will try to give constructive feedback on the Feedback forum.

Hi All,

My name is Simon and I am new to the forum.

I'm a Web Developer with a un-quenchable thirst to know how things work. My first experience of Gaming was a 2nd hand NES which I got for Christmas when I was 6, from then on I discovered the wonders of 2nd hand shops.

First game would be the Legend of Zelda (the gold edition) and Swords and Serpents, and the frustration of not writing down the damb codes correctly!!

I have a few ideas in the pipe line which is why I'm here to get some guidance and pointers from folks who know more than me Smiley

I'm Thomas and I'm 43 yo (yeah 43 you read it right Smiley) programmer from Sweden. The only thing I love more than games is games were the developer has gone that extra mile and while keeping his personal touch on it. Indie games are great in that aspect.

What more..well I was the developer on an online game back around 00 and (I almost sold it) but other things came up and it was never compleated.

At the moment I develop for Android. Just released a game on Google Play, but I will post about that in some other tread.

btw..I been lurking here for years like many others Smiley

Hi, I'm Ivan.
I am a C programmer, using SDL & OpenGL.
No pics because I'm lazy (aren't all engineers?), but I can say this: My face = Potato.

When I was at kindergarten, they used to permit well-behaving kids to use "The Computer". It seems like it just stuck in my mind as this "Reward" sort of thing, and I asked my parents to buy me a computer. When I went to the first grade, I got my first computer - And ever since I've been a gamer.

When I was 12, I was home-hosting a game server which was powered by Unreal 1. To attract visitors, and out of pure fun, I was mapping. Eventually I've gotten to a situation where I didn't have enough power to create what I wanted, so I got exposed to scripting in the Unreal Script language.

I really liked it, coding; but I felt that I had not enough power. I have attempted to learn C++, but failed. I learned Visual Basic 6.0, got myself familiar to the basics of programming, and from there I moved to C, to which I stuck untill now.
I am fairly confident in my C knowledge, and along with that I have studied C# as a computer science class in high-school. Here and there I assemble bits of OOP & C++ knowledge, and I am open to new languages.

I'm always looking for fun things to do. Be it playing a fun game with friends, or programming something fun. If you want to play something with me, go ahead and contact me. If you want me to write you some code, go ahead and contact me on that too.

Cheers!

Hello everyone!

My name is Steve Turner. I have played games all my life and started developing several years ago. I am a programmer who is proficient in many languages and technologies but lately I have been using Unity and coding in C#.

I recently started a company, Big Men Games http://bigmengames.com/index.html , with my cousin Chris Haga. We have been working tirelessly on our Tactical Action Rpg GUTS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P4GhO2oliA for the last several months.

I live and breathe Game and Software development and have found that talking to other developers is a really rewarding experience. Look forward to hearing from some of you guys. My email is [email protected].

Thanks!

Hello everyone!.  Smiley

My name is EJ Ramos. I am from the Philippines. I am currently studying BS in Computer Science, first year college. I really enjoyed playing games during my childhood. Which is the reason why I wanted to make one too.
I am a not-so-professional graphic artist, and an average level programmer (since we haven't been taught a lot in school yet). I am experienced in using Game Maker, but still wanting to learn other engines too.

Hi, my name is lambomang. Well, obviously that's not my real name Tongue
I'm an on and off contributor to Kotaku Australia (more off than on at the moment due to general business and life unorganisedness Tongue, and I like games. Like, really like games.

What made me like games, I hear you ask? Well, it all started back when I was 3. My dad had the game Shockwave Assualt and a joystick, and I'd sit on his lap and move the joystick around while he used the keyboard. I don't think I was actually doing anything, because it was a 1 player game, but hey, I was having fun.

When I turned five my aunt gave me the kids point'n'click adventure game Freddi Fish: The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds, which I enjoyed immensely and played quite a few times.

My mum used to be a teacher and she was homeschooling me and my siblings. She didn't really approve of video games, calling them brain wasting things. So, there always had to be an educational aspect to the games she would allow me to play. She bought me SimMania for Kids, which came with SimAnt, SimTown, SimSafari, SimPark, SimTunes and Widget Workshop. I played those quite a lot too, but I think SimTown was the one I played the most, because I didn't have to pay for any of the buildings and I could make my own characters to live in the towns. Some of the games didn't work, saying they needed to run in 256 colour mode, and I had no idea what that meant. It was around then that I started getting into computers seriously, learning how to do stuff with them, just so I could figure out how to play these games in 256 colour mode. I eventually did find out, and by then a spark had been light that wouldn't easily be put out.

Then one day I bought Sim City 3000 Unlimited, and it had an offer where you could get another game for free ($5 for postage and handling). And Need for Speed High Stakes was one of the games on offer. And Need for Speed High Stakes is the game I got. I had sooooo much fun playing it. I wasn't that good at it to start off with, but as I kept getting better and better, I enjoyed it more and more. I never finished it though, mostly just doing quick races instead of the campaign.

Racing games have been my most favourite game genre ever since then.

When I was older, I'd used to play all the demos on the discs from PC magazines, starting from around when Crysis was about to come out. I've spent quite a lot of time in some demos (specifically Crysis and Batman:AA) but didn't end up buying them until recently.

I've been studying a Bachelor of IT (Computer Studies) part time since I was 15, but will be transferring to a Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment (Game Programming) next year, which will be fun :D I've been messing around with game making for about a year now, but I've only ever finished two games. I used Game Maker and Construct Classic for those games, but I have dabbled in XNA too.

I want to start up my own game studio, and want to have a focus on telling stories in games, as well as making them fun.

Hello everyone. I'm Impmaster, and I'm interested in programming. I'm learning Java right now, and I will go on to objective c and ios programming later. I'm fifteen and have moved around most of my life. The reason I wanted to become a programmer is because I joined a school where everyone had to buy a Macbook, and it was my first computer (my family is upper middle class). I started doing LAN gaming a lot, decided Mac gaming was limited, daydreamed about games I could make, and voila.

I'm Andy, a fairly recent newcomer to the indie scene.  I am also the entirety of TestTubeGames studio.

My background is actually in physics (and theoretical physics at that).  I got into making games for two reasons.  For starters, I always love a good casual game.  And second, games are one of the few ways to make abstract concepts hands-on.  I think topics like relativity and quantum mechanics are amazing(!), and I quite enjoy slogging through the math to understand those concepts.  Most people don't.

So to understand relativity, why not just make a game where you can travel near the speed of light?  Ah yes, I did, the flash game Velocity Raptor:

More recently I made and released an iOS game about particle physics, Agent Higgs:

So that's where I'm coming from.  I'm always looking for a new way to show off some neat science.  Are these just your ol' stale educational games?  I sure hope not.  But you can judge for yourself.

Hey everyone, my name is Anthony De Medeiros and I'm a self proclaimed 3D Animator. RPGs are my favorite type of games to play. Mostly the turned based ones. I enjoy the planning, the adventuring, the grinding (sort of), using the right skills at the right time in battles!

In my spare time, I make 3D Models, Play videogames or build Mechs (gunpla)

My dream is to be part of an indie game company, or make my own. You can see my work here: http://anthonydemedeiros.wordpress.com/
I enjoy making characters, monsters, and objects. I can also texture and animate each of my creations. Blender 3D is what I use to make my models.

Here's a Spell Table I just built:

Enjoy! (and please hire me!)

Hi! My name is Danielle and I am a  Gentleman and only here to whore my game (or, get feedback on it). I have been creating amateur games properly since 2004, but went to University to study Computer Games Programming. I found I preferred the indie environment than a big game corporation so I stuck with my guts. I'm not really getting anywhere, mainly because I suck at promotion et al, but somebody pointed me this way and said "these guys are good at feedback".

I released a series between 2004 and 2006 called Chronicles of Afar which is lost in the ether and not worth searching for on my hard drives (it sucked ass majorly). But that spawned eventually into an MMO which ran from 2006 to 2010 (called Lost Fantasy initially, and then Vengeance). I started Vengeance from scratch again in 2010 and released it in October of that year, and it has been online ever since. In 2011 I changed the name to Afar (because I needed a new domain name) and bought a VPS, which I am happy to say has seen 450 days of uptime so far.

In my spare time I am writing a book and trying to create another game that will actually be profitable (Afar is doing nothing but bleeding money).

Hi.

My name's Geoffrey White, I've actually been posting a DevLog (http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=27113.0) here for a while but I haven't yet introduced myself, so here goes...

First of all I will share an out-of-date photo of me:

I started programming aged 7, attracted to the idea of making games of course!  I did a degree in Computer Science here in the UK, still programming games on the side, then I worked at Exient for five years on DS games (Exient has since split into www.exient.com and http://www.firsttouchgames.com/).  On the side I wrote a 7DRL called 'A Quest Too Far' (http://www.randomstuff.org.uk/~geoffrey/roguelikes/aquesttoofar.html).

Finally I left my job about two years ago to write games independently, and I released my first game 'The Trouble With Robots' earlier today! (http://www.digitalchestnut.com/trouble).  Now I wonder what the future will bring...

Oops. I went and posted to the feedback forum requesting help without first introducing myself. All I can say in my own defense is that it was late last night and I was exhausted. Still, that's no excuse for rudeness. So let me try and redeem myself.

My name is Jason, though friends call me Jake. Until about a year ago I was working as a software developer with no connection to the world of game development.

Like everyone here, I've played video games basically all my life. I go back as far as the old Infocom Text adventures, and for a long while my genre of choice was adventure games, but nowadays my tastes are much more broad.

But all my life I've wanted to create something. It hasn't always been a game, but game design is what I keep coming back to. For decades I've been crafting various (generally over-ambitious) designs in my head, and tinkering with them in my spare time. Finally I arrived at a design that I thought was simple enough that I could execute, and that would allow me to do a lot of drawing, which is also very important to me.

So, I took a reckless plunge. I've been working full time on my game project (gorogoa.com) for about a year. It's turned out to be a lot more complex and time-consuming than I thought it would be, and I've gone down more than a few blind alleys, but I've learned a lot. I think. And I've got a lot left to learn, of course. But it means everything to be doing what I've always wanted to do.

Hey, my name is Monty and I'm an indie game developer from Copenhagen, Denmark. I've been working for some years on my own game project Mobiloid (PC), while trying desperately to feed my kids. Mobiloid is finally finished, so I'm trying to get things back to normal, and reconnecting to the outside world. Hello, outside world!
