Hey there! A friend of mine thought I was weird that I wasn't registered to this forum so I'm showing him how less weird I am! I'm Tim Stoddard, but around the internet I'm known as Gamepopper. I'm a part-time/hobbyist indie game developer, a gamer and a games programming student from Leamington Spa, UK. Real Life me: My game dev logo: I started making games at 16, first game was an incomplete 8-Bit Theatre fan game made with Game Maker that I used in an extra curriculum project... ..and I've been making games since. My favourite game genre is shmups, so since that game I've been trying to make another shmup since, but most of them never got far into production. I became an Indie Developer around February 2013, after getting a job as a Windows Games Ambassador, where I encourage students to make games for Windows, which eventually led to my first Windows Phone game, BOOM: Fireworks Defence Unit. At the moment I'm working on my next game, Secret of Escape, a fast paced stealth game where you have to reach the exit before time runs out, or you get caught. I'm working on it while I doing a placement in Winchester, so I'm trying to finish it for an October release on Desura and maybe Steam if there is enough interest. I hope I meet a lot of cool people on this forum! :D

Full name: Andrii “Gua” Vintsevych Started playing video games when I was 6 years old, on an Atari 2600 clone. Drew games on paper before getting my first windows pc. After getting my first PC, became an active Half-Life/Counters-Strike mapper and mod maker. Had taken some prize places in mapping competitions. Also made maps for some other games. After quieting university. I've magically end up in game industry as tester, but ended up as a lead game designer. That was a start of my carer in game industry. Had worked on those titles and was involved in some others. - Pirate Hunter [PC]
- iPirate [iPhone]
- Go Fishing [Facebook, iPad].
- Hidden Animals [Facebook]
At some point between switching jobs I have started to make video reviews of video games and then created game review website with text reviews. http://game-views.net (Russian) Job in the game industry can give you a lot but it has disadvantages. One of the biggest disadvantages is that you often don't get project that inspires you, and you have to work on it for years. That's why at some point while working in the industry I've started making my own game in a spare time. This was possible due to rise of non-coding tools. After 5 years in the industry I've quite my job couple months ago and now i'm full time indie developer. At the moment I'm finishing my spare time game, that I have starter more than 2.5 years ago and getting my well deserved rest after years of work. Game is called Sector Zero. Hi there! I'm only recently hearing about the forums over here, and figured I'd join in and see what it's all about. I'll take a cue from Derek's first post and drop in some data on Test Subject 25676 aka @AllegroDigital aka Stephen G. Tucker. I've been playing games since my earliest memories, and can remember breaking into my next door neighbours' houses to get my 5 year old hands on their Sega Master and Nintendo Entertainment Systems. Seriously. So when I did eventually get a NES to call my own, I became a huge fan of Dragon Quest IV, Megamans, Castlevanias, Star Tropicses, Ninja Gaidens, River City Ransom, Double Dragons, and heaps more of totally awesome games. I got a Sega Genesis and pretty much loved Shining Force and Mortal Kombat. The SNES came along and I had no choice but to buy my own when my older brother refused to let me use his. I eventually got a Playstation, and a PS2, and at the end of college a PS3, then later a Gamecube. Lately, I've been rocking a lot of FTL, and Rogue Legacy. Steam keeps me happy when I'm not trying to make out PS3 text on my old SDTV. Anyways I've been a "grown up" for a few years now and have a degree in animation. I've worked in feature film for a few years as a visual effects artist, in Toronto (Can), Sydney (Aus), and Vancouver (Can) -- most recently on Ender's Game, which won't be out until November. I'm currently taking time off to work on a game with a buddy. It's gonna be our first game, and we're workin' hard to make it wicked. We just incorporated our company, Sprixelsoft, a couple of months ago. I'm pretty new to the indie (and dev) scene, and am just checking out this site for the first time today. I'll be attending PAXDEV/PRIME at the end of the month.

Hey everyone ! My name is Kristian Macanga, and I am 24 years old game designer & programmer. Till now I worked with many popular indie game developers including Jan Willem Nijman ( Vlambeer ), Kyle Pulver ( IGF nominee ), Greg Lobanov and some others. For games I made with them check out this list : https://www.facebook.com/chrismacangelo/posts/357401454389223In less then two weeks my new game Sudden Aviator is coming out, hardcore arena shooter that have difficulty and balance inspired by Dark Souls. Sudden Aviator have bunch of really interesting mechanics including clouds, power-ups combining, and really complex & unique enemies that combined make really interesting puzzles, and transform this shooter into tactical one. This is only start because I am already working on sequel. Right now I am also working on my own 2D Dark Souls game with some cool guys that worked on AAA games like F.E.A.R., Condemned and Guild Wars 2. More about it in future. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=357952057667496&set=a.357952007667501.1073741828.100003581134303&type=1For more updates add or follow me on my Facebook, at least until I get my own web page, I will announce it there when we finish it : https://www.facebook.com/chrismacangeloIf you got any questions or want to work with me, let me know. Hey all,
I'm Lane Daughtry. I'm a life long gamer of all sorts. Table top, digital, cards, drinking, you name it. I love gaming so much I doggedly pursued it as a career from my single digit days learning how to program in BASIC on a C64 to working in AAA for about 15 years.
These days I'm the production lead at my indie studio TinkerHouse Games and we do a mix of contract game dev and our own projects as we're able.
When I'm not doing that I'm either doing something fun with the wife and kiddo or carving out some free time for the latest strategy or rpg that's got my attention (currently that is Shadowrun Returns and Rogue Legacy) or god willing actually getting to a table to roll dice with my buddies. My current table top game is in 13th Age and we're really having fun with that system.
I've got my eyes on Dragons Crown soon as well but I'll need to borrow a PS3 as I never got one.
I'll be posting some info about our latest game soon, I can't wait to show you guys!
My favorite game ever is System Shock. Followed closely by Castlevania:SotN and then Zelda : A Link To The Past.

Hey, how goes it :D My name is Eric Wesa, and I'm from Canada. When I was growing up, my favourite games were "Super Bomberman," "Paperboy 2," and "Super Mario Kart." (I never even owned a Super Nintendo haha. This was all at my cousin's house) In 2010 I designed my first game during the Newgrounds Game Jam 2, and it felt really great to be making it. I was listed as a musician (despite designing 80% of the levels) since I was never good at art or programming, and I am now working on my second game. So, yup. That about covers it. I hope I can work with many of the developers here and am looking forward to being a part of this community! EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm now focusing on art haha. Go figure...

Hellow! I'm Ricardo de Zoete, 24 years old and from the Netherlands! I'm an artist, game designer and visual designer (and probably some other stuff! I have worked on three titles for mobile platforms so far and also did a lot of illustration and artwork for smaller (& sometimes major) projects!
You might know me from games such as Push Panic!, Hyper Breaker Turbo and/or An Alien with a Magnet. If not... no problem! Since I'm going to show more of me pretty soon!

Hello, I'm Andyman2340. I'm a web developer that's stoked about indie gaming. I'm obsessed with Minecraft, Scrolls, and FTL. I'm currently working on my first big project that is currently unnamed. It will take on elements from many different turn-based strategy genres. The game when completed with be an MMO-esque Tactics RPG Turn-Based Strategy. All Content and Ideas Copyright NukaMedia 2013. It will feature: 1. Randomly Generated Terrain. 2. Destructable and modifiable terrain. 3. Randomly spawned loot and chests. 4. Randomly spawned neutral mobs. 5. Each of your units will be individually customizable with perks, names, jobs, etc. 6. You will have your own army of which units can experience perma-death. 7. You will compete against other players or against a CPU for single player action and leveling. 8. The game will feature retro 16-bit (Super Nintendo) style pixel art graphics. 9. The game may possibly feature a crafting system. The main goal for the game is to create a game so customizable that no 2 players will have the same units or style of play. Unbalanced gameplay and random events will be hallmarks of the game. Do you decide between fighting over the loot or going straight for the kill? The game will be built on strictly web based technologies that include HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, jQuery, Node.js, Mustache.js, JSON and MongoDB. Here's my first Alpha Alpha Alpha screenshot. What do you think? I'm excited to get to know people in this community and to share in development experiences with everyone. If you need to get a hold of me, I use the screen name Andyman2340 everywhere on the internet. Google me if you have to.

Hello! I'm the community manager for a game called Starbound and also develop games with a studio called Owl Cave! I'm a pixel art novice and I have no idea what I am doing. :') I love community management, but I've also always wanted to make games. Drawing the character art for (and helping to design) Location Services has been a great learning experience and I'm super excited to release it, but on my own time I'm looking to start working on a small project or two of my own. Time to read an assload of tutorials. Also just looking forward to getting to know more fellow indie devs.

Hi, everyone. I'm known as Xitilon and/or HD408. Being an independent game developer of some sort, I'm also somewhat known as Cave Story translator (russian version). Also I participate in Ludum Dare. Got some skills at most of the gamedev aspects: graphics, sound, music, game design, but nothing I'd really like to show at the moment. Finishing and polishing the game is less interesting to me than prototyping. Recently I've finished developing my external "debugger/tester", the GM XD, and I'd like to share it with this game development community. There's the manual. Could someone tell me where would it be appropriate to post it at this forum?

Hi My name is Mikael I started with the computer hobby in the early 80s, on ABC 80 and made my first BASIC program's. Several years later Space Invader replicas etc on ATARI ST. Now more than 20 years later it is time to take up the old hobby again. Hope to be able to share ideas and thoughts on games and game design with the rest of you here on the forum. Develops in Game Maker Studio for HTML5. GML is not far away from what I remember of basic programming from my youth on ABC 80 Best regards, Mikael

Hi guys,
My is Anton and I'm a programmer living in the US.
As a young kid I was never allowed to play video games, because my parents thought they would rot my brain. But strangely enough my parents considered PC games to be different than Console Games (aka "video games" to my parents). So all of my earliest video games were PC related.
The first video game I ever played was Prince of Persia (original) and I loved it but was horrible at it. I moved on to other games like Commander Keen, Diablo, and FF7 (PC version). All of which I loved and helped me to realize how amazing video games can be.
Eventually my parents gave in on the video games debate and I bought my first console the original Xbox. My favorite games from it were Halo, Psychonauts, and KOTOR. And since then I have generally owned all of the consoles and I play any game that is well made.
I've come to really dislike games that progress the story or reward the player for simply putting in X amount of time. All too often I feel let down by a game that feels watered down with mundane time consuming tasks.
In real life I work as a programmer. In my free time I'm working on my first video game with a friend. Development on my game started just a few weeks ago and I quickly realized how lonely making a game is (even with a partner). So I've come here to make some friends, learn more about games, continue to get inspired, and to have some fun.

Hey everybody!
I'm a web programmer at a small mostly educational software company (we make some almost game software but I wouldn't play them for fun). I just graduated high school and I'm an entirely self taught programmer. So far I have yet to take a programming class but I am pretty strong on the front end web stuff and highly mediocre at most other sectors of computer science. Also I am totally a vim guy and don't really care for IDE's unless the language demands it.
I have been learning about making games in my spare time but it's pretty slow going because I don't like to use engines that much and I want to learn how to do the basics from scratch. The stuff I've done has mostly been HTML5 which I know fairly well, because we do a lot of it where I work. I am working on an actual, complete game which is slowly coming together. I hope to show it to you guys soon.
I have been playing games since before I was a year old (just watched an old home video of me playing atari as a baby) and have strong love for games from SNES and back. These days I play old games, misc indie games and tiny bit of AAA games. Oh and TF2, I play way too much friggen TF2...

My name is Joshua Pickard and I feel like I was born 10 years too early. I remember seeing my first video game when I was 3. It was in some pizza joint and I had to push a chair up to the machine to get at the controls. The game was about some safari guy that could could move out of his shelter to shoot at some animals. This was in `76 and I can't remember the name of it to save my life. It got replaced with an Asteroids machine some time later. It was on Asteroids that I first got to put in my initials for a high score. I think I was 5 by then. A couple years later, I started saving up for an Atari 2600. I gave up much candy and movies to put money in the savings can on which I had pasted catalog pictures of the object of my desire. I finally had $200 by my 8th birthday and bought it. My parents got me a couple games to go with it. Combat was awesome. Asteroids too. I even played the hell out of Pac-Man even after realizing how bad a job they did with it. Later, I even played the hell out of E.T. I might have even felt superior to everyone else because I figured out how the game worked and beat it several times. (It helped that I ALWAYS read the manual, too!) Seeing where my interests were headed, my parents got me a Commodore 64 sometime in my 10th year of life. I quickly learned some BASIC and programmed my first original text adventure game (meaning not a tutorial or magazine game) using a bunch of IF-THEN statements. With no internet to distribute it, only my best friend ever got to play it. He rated it "pretty cool" with a non-committal shrug. NES and SNES followed in the next decade. I forgot about programming in favor of playing the awsomeNES (pun intended!) of the games on those systems. I went to college and crashed a few computer lab networks playing DOOM with my friends there. I should have taken a Comp-Sci major, but since there was no such thing as a "game designer" major in `91, for some reason, I majored in Accounting instead. It just sounded practical at the time. I got into the MOD scene with DOOM wads and DukeNukem 3D's BUILD engine. Wonderful things could be done in BUILD that I have not been able to replicate since in true 3D sculpted environments. Sector overlapping was awesome. I got my Accounting degree in `96, but then I made a long series of bad decisions and ruined my life. I didn't get myself sorted out until 2000. Now no longer an Accountant (I didn't do anything illegal, mind you. It was all personal life decisions.), I was working an I.T. job at a call center. My local gaming friends got to know me as "Meatsack" and I adopted that name as my online persona. That's who I was when I met my wife. Now married with children, I spent some my free time playing online and casually modding games and maps. I didn't really make anything worthwhile until TRON 2.0 came out. It needs to be said: I'm a HUGE TRON fan. I got in good with the TRON 2.0 community and made a couple multiplayer Disk-Arena maps with my own twists on them. Seeing that there was nobody working on a singleplayer expansion to the main game, I wrote a story: User Error. I made the first 5 levels completely on my own with only some technical advice from the community. Things were really getting going when life decided I'd had it too easy for too long and yanked that rug out from under me. Scrambling to provide for my family, I had to abandon User Error to "the guys" ( www.LDSO.net) and hope that they finished it. They did and I'm eternally grateful for it. (In fact, they are still working on expanding that story even more, still!) This and that happens for some more years and life finally settles back down to where I can get back to what I truly love to do: make games. I'm still in the I.T. field, but game making is a full-time hobby for me. So I get online and look up some game development communities. I buy GameMaker: Studio and also learn some programming basics in HTML, Java, C, C++, and C#. I'm no expert programmer, but I make some fun prototypes in GM:S. In an effort to be more social and start my own brand, I made a Google Site, Meatsack's Workshop telling more about myself, the creative ideas I have, and what I have done. After joining some more sites, I find this one, and it looks promising. From what I see so far, I finally feel like I'm among "my own kind". I think I'm going to like it here. Now let's make some games!
