Hey Internet!

My name's Anthony Palma and I'm the CEO of Kermdinger Studios, the 3-man indie studio behind Stunt Runner, a 2.5D physics puzzler for PC and Mac. I'm our programmer, designer and business guy. I come from a Computer Science background, but all 3 of us went to Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Master's program (Jesse Schell teaches there for all you design nerds like me) for graduate school.

Castle Crashers was my indie game baptism back in undergrad, and soon after I took a graphics programming class and fell in love with game development. I immediately started looking into grad schools, got lucky enough to get accepted to CMU, went there, and founded Kermdinger Studios during my last semester. We've been silently building Stunt Runner for the past 18 months and JUST announced on Monday, so I'm hear to spread the good word!

This is me:

And this is Stunt Runner!

Happy to meet you all!

Hello everyone,

I'm Sam, I've been into art and animation for a long time now, and I've always been into game's since I got a commodore 64 haha, Those damn cassettes...

5 Years Later

Fortunately the seemingly eternal loading times to play the game's didn't deter me as I then moved onto a Sega Megadrive, which for me was the golden age of my gaming life.. I played the crap out of that thing:

Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage, Light Crusader, Shining force 2, Story of Thor, I could make a huge list but those were a few great games that came to mind.

I think the N64 was a bit out my price range although they looked awesome, but I then got a Playstation, followed by a Dreamcast Cry Shenmue noooooo, then Gamecube, but I've kind of lost interest in console gaming with the new gen and am not usually only on the PC (except for the odd game of Super Smash Bros: Melee)

I'm really interested in game's with fresh mechanics and inventive game play. So I'm a massive advocate of Indie games and thus why I'm here! I want to get really deep into the game development community, learn new things and collaborate with passionate developers.

wisewonky.com  (If you want to check out some of the artworks and animations my twin bro and have done: (yeah we're always working on stuff together, too bad neither of us can program Sad)

Glad to be here!

oh and I really wanted to say (L Blink Blink K) with the use of these eyeballs Waaagh! < that guy can join in too  Who, Me? Lmao these are amazing emoticons

Hi there, my name is Daniel and I'm a 3D Artist that decided to try and make a game by himself. When I was researching about some game design topics, specially about beat'em up subjects (I'm trying to make a beat'em up) found lots of interesting discussions happening here, so decided to signup Smiley seems like a nice forum

Hello all,

I'm Ben, and I go by CapnStache on the webspace. Ive been fascinated about every aspect of video games for as long as I can remember. I always knew I wanted to make games, but it's been a twisty, bumpy journey as I figure out how exactly I do that. I look to you all for inspiration and guidance. Thank you.  Gentleman

Hello everyone, I'm Danny, but I often go by Seizui.  I am currently a member a streaming group called Sanctuary Crew. Those that may often hit Deviantart may see me in one shape or another, but probly not.

So, I'll show that this is me:

How did I get into games: My first game that was given to me was Mario Bros for the Nintendo. I played that and many of the games. One of the games that stood out to me at the time was Dragon Warrior(or Dragon Quest to the purists):

For the SNES/Genesis-age, I was introduced to various games due to the massive library. Of all of the games, these three stood out to me.

Illusion of Gaia: This game was what I wanted in an RPG; it had its action and its story, even if I did not get it at the time, was awesome. To this day, I am a huge fan of the series, even contributing to a Game Script on GameFAQS as Sei Kasagi. Illusion of Gaia was one of my major influences for my main OC, but that comes up later.

Shining Force II: So, this was the first Shining Force that I played all the way through. I didn't start with the first, but this one. I was so engrossed with the theme and the tactical-based game that I sought to finish it everytime I rented it.

Streets of Rage II: I loved this game. Then again, I also loved that I could play a black kid named Skate(Eddie Hunter). He was the reason I got into roller skating to some degree.

Due to this, I've ended up creating a character who, after multiple years of revisions, he finally came to light who I often put out to the public.

*Spritework by Ahuron/Abysswolf and Artwork by WickedAlucard; both from DeviantArt

Reize Seatlan: I made him originally when I did RP at various MUDs in the spirit of JRPGS, but at the same time I wanted to detract some things(a boomerang instead of swords until a friend convinced me to dual wield them, eventually got him involved with magic, but limited, and kick-based martial arts). He was influenced through Illusion of Gaia's Will, Tales of Symphonia's Lloyd, and Ys's Adol. But, he is his own entity. Thanks to Kickstarters that popped up, I got him into a some games:
  • Valdis Story: Abyssal City (Summoned assist character; almost released!!!)
  • Echoes of Eternea (NPC, possible guest character; progress ongoing)
  • Shovel Knight (boss fight; good progress ongoing)
  • Rainfall: The Sojourn (NPC; Started)
  • Endica The Dream King VII (Playable hidden character; Started)

How I factor in as an indie game developer: I really don't plan to make the indie gaming industry part as an ongoing thing. I am currently full-time with the military who is focusing more for Information Security. BUT, I want to take part of having my character's story presented to the world to where I no longer have to commission for artwork(yay fanart!) and will let my friends who want to be game developers continue that path.

Hey, everyone. Dreamteck here.

In order to present ourselves properly we'll give you a short description of each member of the team. Let's hope the post doesn't get too long. ^^
Here's the team photo:

Maybe it will be easier if we start presenting the people from the left to the right, right?

Ok, so our Nr.1 is Gerry Popova. Her job is to take photos and film videos. She helps the team every time we have a video-related task. Most oftenly, Gerry shoots or helps with shooting the video blogs we make. She went to a math school but of course her interests are absolutely not related with that. Even though Gerry has no game development-related skills, she is of big importance to the team's presentation abilities.

Second in the row is Vasil Paunov. He is the newest addition to the team and occupites himself with 3D modeling. He has drawing skills which makes him perfect for the task. Vasil also has knowledge of photography and cinema so he has a good understanding of light and camera angles - something widely used in the video game industry.

The third person is Simeon Simeonov- mainly an artist but his skill set expands to 2D and 3D animation as well. He digitalizes his hand drawings and most of the time he works on concept art but he is able to work on game content too.

#4 Yoan Alexiev, or known as "Yo", has always been a part of the team and he is the oldest member. He has worked on all of Dreamteck's unreleased and unfinished projects since he was 8th grade. As lead 3D Designer, he is pretty much responsible for how the games look. He does most of the models and helps the other designers with their work. About his gaming personality his memory led him back to 1999, when he was only 6 years old and the game that changed his life was Jackal for NES.

Dimitar (Mitko) is the founder of Dreamteck. (Nr.5) He is our Programmer and Game Designer, the leading particle of the team. His obsession with games started when he was 4 years old and ever since then he wanted to became a game developer. He can't tell if he has a favorite game, but he listed some titles for us, including Half-life, Unreal Tournament, Crysis and Sonic.

The Sixth Member from the picture is Emil Pashov, one of the artists of the team. When he was pretty little the animated movies got his attention and he fell in love with drawing. In Dreamteck he does hand drawings as proficiently as he works with a set of digital tools for painting and 2D animation.

#7 is Christina Botinova- the youngest member and her job is to work on characters and other living entities. She drew the main character of our current game project:

And the member behind the scene is our writer, Petar Mavrodiev. We don't have him in the photograph because he studies Psychology at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy. His job comprises of script writing, world building, character and plot development and level design.

If you want to meet the team "in person" watch our fist vlog:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tuCq2TRobuY

Enjoy and thank you for your time.

Hi everybody my name is Justin spice.
I'm a professional concept artist trying to make the switch to the endless beauty that is indie.

I'm very passionate about game making storytelling and just the beauty that the medium of video games offers.

I'm huge and the science, space, physics, and technology. I love the thought of exploring unknown worlds and bringing that to reality there videogames. I love puzzles, games with robots, and moody atmosphere.

If you'd like to check out some of the concept art for the game I'm putting together a team for you can see here.

If you'd like to check out my kind of out of date website check it out here.

Hi there, I'm Kenneth.
I'm 17 years old, a programmer, and have been into video games and game development what feels like my entire life.

This is what I look like when I'd rather not get a picture:
Wink

How I got in to video games:
One of my earliest memories was getting a Nintendo 64 for a birthday (I must've been around 4-6), and I've been playing video games ever since. My first game was Banjo-Kazooie, but some of my favorite games growing up were Glover, Super Smash Bros., and the Bomberman series.

How I got in to programming:
In elementary, me and my friends would always be making random board/card games and play them any chance we got. It's was only natural that I eventually grew an interest in making video games, and one of the first things I remember messing around with was RPG Maker 2003, in which I fell in love with the idea of game making. Eventually I found my way to a program called BYOND where I first was introduced to actual programming, and even though it was frustrating to get in to, there was just something about typing what you wanted and watching it come to life on screen that amazed me. A good few years later and I was finally ready to try a bigger language. I began to learn a bit of C++, but it never really interested me. Not too long afterwards a game called Minecraft came out and drew my attention to Java. I checked it out and, just like that, I had found my language of choice. Almost three years later, here I am.

Major Inspirations:
My main inspiration comes from the late Game Boy era, so a lot of the things I start usually have pixel-y graphics, and some of my newer inspirations include FEZ and Dwarf Fortress.

My works:
Unfortunately I don't have much to show outside of a ton of incomplete game prototypes and a few Minecraft mods (which I'm less than proud of to say is all I've released), but I hope one day to actually complete something purposeful, regardless of if it gets big or if people like it.

Here's a couple of screenshots from some of my prototypes:

And with that, nice to meet you all, and hopefully this is a decent introduction, I always suck at those.  Smiley

Alrighty!

My name is Anders. I'm a Norwegian animation student, Comic artist and love video games.

I decided to join this site because I just got Game Maker and want to make a little game. However, I have no experience or knowledge in programming, or scripts. Therefore I hope that I can learn by joining this site and ask questions that may (or may not) seem stupid for the experienced programmer. Hopefully I won't become too much of a nuisance.

PS: Also, I apologize if my English is horrible. It's my second Language.

Cheers!  Coffee

Hi,

My name is Eric. I've been modding since Tie Fighter and Jedi Knight back in the 90s. Did some Half-Life & Half-Life 2 modding too. I worked for ISOTX on the Iron Grip series for about five and a half years. Been indie since Nov 2012.

I do a bit of everything, though lately been doing more programming. I've done writing and game design as well as some art. I really enjoy being a jack-of-all-trades even if makes things a bit more difficult in a more specialized environment.

I've got a BS from Drexel University (studied biology), and am mostly self taught in game dev.

Hi, my name is Jack, and I like to make some little games in Love2D. As far as finished games, I've only made a few prototypes, and haven't released anything.

I do a little bit of 3D, a little bit of pixel art, and a lot of physical drawings!

Hey everybody! I'm Shawn and I run Neon Corridor Sound, an up and coming music production and sound design studio from the woods of the Adirondack Mountains.

I've been producing music for quite some time in a variety of genres. Funk, 80s, Indie Rock, Post Rock, Ambient, Progressive House, and many more. Now I'm focusing my efforts on the thriving indie game scene. I just love what independent games have become over the past few years and want to contribute deep and immersive sountracks and sounds effects to these beautiful games!

Even if you don't need a sound designer or composer right now, take a minute to check out some of my music at www.neoncorridor.com

Thanks!

Hey all, my name is Ben C. and I help run a newly formed studio Hapa Games. We are a few of graduate students who have been making games for the past year. This includes a ton of prototypes and four large scale 8-month projects. Here are three of them:

Grapple: Rope physics and robots
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PFQcpCSrUw

Warp Derby: Twisted Metal meets Portal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU-sbk-llvQ

Pitch Jumper: Music based platforming on iOS and Android
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=azn08JHA7ks

A little bit about me: I, like the rest of you, love games. Just love them. And when I was a kid I knew that this was all I wanted to do. As soon as I put a controller in my hand and started playing Super Mario Bros, I absolutely believed that this would be what I end up doing with my life.

I started programming when I was in undergrad but moved to the design and production aspect of things after graduating. I can still script like a beast but my focus is more on making sure things make sense.

My favorite games change every year and so the most recent games which have made a difference in my life have been Cave Story+, SMB, Atom Zombie Smasher, the Torchlight series, and Hotline Miami. My guilty pleasures (in which I shell out $50+ dollars for) have been Bioshock Infinite, Chivalry, and the Fallout series.

I hope to start getting to know all of you as Hapa Games develops its first project over the next year. Let's get this shit started

Hey Everybody,

My name is Jordan Ajlouni. I am a freelancing game developer.
You can check out my resume on my portfolio: www.JordanAjlouni.com
Here are the cliff notes:

Design + programming = Technical Designer aka scripter.
Design Preference.
Audio Experience.
3+ years Professional.
Unity Expertise.

Now onto the cool stuff.
I like games, you like games, we all like games! To me, games are more than a series of mechanics or a distraction. They are a time, a place. They exist as a mood and emotion, one  the player experiences for them and only for them.

That's what I aim to make - A state of being. That doesn't mean i'm pulling for some kind of transcendental video game revolution (though I'm not against it either!). I believe this can be accomplished simply through an attention to detail and a target atmosphere and mood. It's the small stuff, a dynamic soundscape, an interactive environment, and tying it all back to gameplay. Okay, that last bit is a little hard...

Like most of you, i'm sure, I grew up on the modern classics - Mario 64, Super Smash Brothers, Ocarina of Time (I had a 64, not a playstation : P), Warcraft III, Orange Box, etc, etc.

In any design discussion, I am prone to bring up either Portal or the term "Modern Roguelike". I am also on a space kick these days. I find the endless wonderment, the true isolation, and never ending beauty gripping.

Also, don't ask me how much I've played FTL. I'll give you a hint. It has the same answer as "how much could I play FTL".

Anywho, I look forward to talking, interacting, and even working with those in the community.

Cheers!  Toast Right Toast Left
