Hey there, my name is Santiago and I’m currently studying Computer Science in Argentina. I started making (programming and designing) video games about two years ago. In Argentina, the videogames industry is still on diapers, but hopefully it will grow up soon!

I’ve always liked tinkering with everything: clocks, speakers, and even videogames. My plan was to know “what happens if I do X?”, “Does it make the clock go faster or slower?”. In videogames, sometimes you have the chance of modding certain aspects, or applying your own custom skins. I wanted to give power to the players, so they could experience this “tinkering” while enjoying the game.

That's why both my released game (Plataforma) and my hopefully soon to be released (Plataforma ULTRA) have that tinkering as a basis. Files aren't obfuscated, and you can "hack" them to change the behaviour of the game.

I am always up to discuss videogames, and especially platformers. Cheers!

Hey hey,y'all! My name is Jason, I'm in Montreal, Canada, and I'm a recent-ish indie with my new studio Cardboard Utopia. Here's a picture of me throwing up some gang signs.

I got into games when I was a wee lad when we bought a NES in the US and tried to sneak it back into Canada so my dad didn't have to pay the duty. I ratted him out to the border people cause I'm a dick like that. But I really got into games while watching my brother play Final Fantasy 2. Damn, that game blew my  mind when I was little.

My path into game dev started when I was 13 and I read about DigiPen in Game Players magazine. I think it was the issue with Earthworm Jim on the cover. The idea I could be a game developer never occurred to me, so from then on, I was determined to work in games.

During highschool, I took art and computer classes, eventually going to an art school in Vancouver, BC, for game design, called CDIS. After graduating, I worked on a level art portfolio for a year and then moved out to Montreal to follow a girl. *Sigh* Young love...... Eventually I got a level design job at A2M (now Behaviour Games, or whatever), where I worked on killer games like Sooby-Doo: Unmasked, Happy Feet, Power Rangers: Super Legend, and Ed, Edd, n'Eddy: MisEDventures. Woooo!

After 5 years of that BS, I switched to game design and went to Ubisoft Mtl, worked on Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Rainbow6, and Far Cry 3. After 5 more years of that, and getting completely sick of working in AAA, I quit and entered the wilderness of the indie dev life. Here's an image for my current game, War of Zodiarcs.

The games I grew up on were mainly console and Japanese-made, so those are my main influences.

Hello everyone! My name is Richard Staggs, from Alabama. I have dabbled with game design here and there with programs like gamemaker and unity, but only recently have I realized the serious potential they possess. I'm an artist at heart and have been drawing and painting since the age of 5! I joined up here because I've always been a big fan of the site and often come here to look through the devlogs. I figured it was about time I started one of my own for my game in progress Knights Below Smiley

Hello All,

I'm Jon Buresh, a Game Designer in the LA area! I have a BS degree in Game Design but I also love to program and sometimes art. My favorite part of game development is prototyping. When I'm not working on a game I'm either exploring LA or playing games.

Nice to meet you all!  Beer!

Hi everyone,

Nipal from France here. I've been enjoying video games since NES (and all the consoles that followed) then I started to work seriously on Estiah with a friend on our free time (like many of you) Smiley My favorite game era is definitely SNES where there were so many good J-RPGs and that was what made me an avid RPG fan.

There's never enough time to both make and play games, that is probably the hardest part of being a game maker. But I did spend a (hell) lot of time on WoW... Anyway, glad to meet you all!

Oh hi.

I'm just getting into game design and this seems like an excellent community to observe and participate in to help learn the ropes. I'm learning Unity at the moment after dabbling with Twine, Puzzlescript and Gamemaker. I am a graphic designer by trade so Unity feels most comfortable to me based on it's largely visual interface that doesn't feel that off from photoshop and cinema4d.

All time favorite game: Flashback

I'm also a huge fan of the Dark Souls/Demons Souls games, the Metal Gear franchise, Gone Home, Cave Story, Journey, Castlevania SOTN, etc, etc. Anything that blends atmosphere, story telling, and game mechanics seamlessly with a strong visual aesthetic is up my alley.

I don't have anything to show in the game department yet but if anyone wants to check out my design/illustration work, here are some links:

Hey everyone,

I'm sFSP. I am mostly a programmer (competence in using Java, C#, and C++) but I'm also interested in the other aspects of game development. I've been visiting this site for 2 years now, I think, so I thought it was time to join. I have much to learn, but I'm doing my best.  Giggle

See you guys around!

Yet another composer joining in! Smiley

I grew up playing mostly RPGs and RTSs, along with tabletop RPG and card games. Somewhere down the line, decided to be a musician. I like working with games as it has a layer of interactivity that doesn't exist in music for other types of media. I specialise in orchestral music.

Hi All,

Robin here from PaniPuri Soft, an indie studio from India.

We have been working on a game for the last 2.5 years but as it's not easy to get the game play-tested in the small town where we are, i have come here to get feedback from the gamers and experts.

Trailer and link to game can be found in the signature.

Hey folks, my real name is Martin Linklater and I've been making games for myself since 1981 and as a job since 1993. I'm currently freelancing for other companies and doing my own stuff on the side under the 'Curly Rocket' name, but previously I've worked at Psygnosis, Sony Liverpool, Bizarre Creations, EA and Curly Monsters (as a founder). I've worked on loads of games but probably most proud of my involvement with Wipeout and the stuff we did at Curly Monsters (NGen Racing & Quantum Redhift).

I've got a couple of really rubbish games on iOS at the moment (look for CurlyRocket), but I'm now using Unity for my own stuff and may have some other bits & bobs out there in the future. Got 2 kids, wife, mortgage and a full time job so I find it pretty tough to find time for my own indie stuff, but that's where my heart really is.

Cheers

Howdy folks, I'm Maximinus (not sure it's my real name). I've been developing games on the Xbox Live Indie Games platform for the last few years (since late 2008). It's been a great few years, even though the sales have not been very high, it's been enough to keep me in business for 6 years. Lately, I've been focusing on the PC platform, working on a game that I'll promote in its own thread in the Townhall forum.

A bit more information : I've been working solo from my appartment. I've released about 20 games on XBLIG, I'll show you some screenshots that you may find interesting :

Globe Clicker : 2009, geographic quiz with NASA satellite images

Red Tie Miner : 2011, 2D mining game with boulders and a grapplin hook

Gentlement Start Your Engiiines : 2012, oval racing game, crowded field of 43 cars, pack racing and drafting

Blocks and Tanks : 2013, online deathmatch with tanks in a fully-destructible voxel environment

Many gameplay videos of my games are avalaible on my youtube : http://youtube.com/MaximinusGames

Also, twitter : http://twitter.com/MaximinusGames

Cheers

Hi all, new indie game studio here, Light Up Game Studios, based in the UK.

Our primary influences come from a lot of the classics - Zelda OOT, Shenmue, Baldur's Gate II, Tales of Symphonia and so on. In our opinion games are all about the experience, which is a combination of mechanics, look and feel, music and meaning.

Great to see how deep the indie game scene is becoming in terms of complexity and how wide in terms of genre. Look forward to talking with you all over the next several months.

You can find us at http://www.lightupgamestudios.com, our blog / devlog at http://www.lightupgamestudios.wordpress.com, and on twitter at https://twitter.com/LUgamestudios.

Yours truly is named Pimm "de Chinchilla" Hogeling. I was born in the Netherlands. Nice to meet all of you.

I am an experienced martial artist (feel safe when I'm around) and a creator of interactive art.

Dialogues of any kind between humans and machines interest me. I was sent here to make such interactions as awesome as they possibly can be.

I feel the seemingly existing law that dictates every indie game has to include pixel art should be changed.

Hi everyone !

My name is Franck Jeandinot and I usually introduce myself as a gamer from the past century who wants to create his own game. Past century, because the games I played the most are from 1987 to 1999.
I also play to recent games but they're sequels of very old licenses. Actually the number of games I really liked is pretty short and I don't understant most of modern game mechanics...

My top 5 favorit games are :

- Dungeon Master on atari ST

- Doom on PC

- Diablo (the first one) on PC

- Final Fantasy Tactics on Playstation

- Zelda Windwaker on GameCube

I work on my own game on my free time : graphics and programing. Sadly The time is missing for the FX and music...

Hiya! I'm "87", which when read in a very pretentious way translates directly to my real name Smiley.

I started gaming on the NES as a 4 year old kid in 1991, and ever since then I was hooked to videogames. My fascination with consoles died as soon as my parents bought a PC in 1995, and ever since then I've been into computer gaming. The oldest games I enjoyed are probably:

And... yeah I went here:

Afterwards I played some Red Alert 1/2, Dune 2000, Warcraft 2, and Diablo 2, before becoming addicted to this thing:

And specifically, to a Persistent World Roleplay Server called Anphillia that really reminded me of tabletop DnD sessions. The combination of gaming, writing, and acting in an apparently living, seamless world was a combination I found nowhere else, and would draw me back time and time again. I started playing Neverwinter Nights in 2002, and the last time I played it was 2011. Throughout all of this time I played some indie games here and there, and other mainstream titles, but nothing really stood out. In 2011 I got into my current addiction; DOTA and Heroes of Newerth, and currently, DOTA2. T'is a bad addiction.

I made my first game in sixth grade in Logo... after dabbling with writing for a while, I got back to game development as a primary hobby in 2010 when I made and sold a sponsorship fora small flash game... ever since then I've been making games but never really finishing them, and studying for a CS degree. 2 years ago I got into a corporate job as a Software Developer, and they gave me a lot of money, so I put my degree on hold, and aside from two Ludum Dare entries during that time, I didn't make much. Now I'm leaving my job to finally finish my degree, and maybe get back to gameDev as a part time job. Wish me luck!

Hey folks!
My name is Cody Penner and I am designer and pixel artist. I've been attempting to make games for 15+ years now. I started my own small indie company called Blind Fist Software a few years ago and released a small mobile game called Dungeon Drop.

The games that influenced me the most are Duke Nukem 3D, Commander Keen, Ultima Online, Ultima 6 and Nox.

Hello all

My love for video games started with Super Mario Land on the Game Boy or the Prince of Persia on PC (can't remember which one) when I was young (can't remember how young). Then Lemmings came. Then Donkey Kong Classic (a puzzle platformed where you play as Mario). Then Freelancer and the N64 era and the Burnout series. Latest games to wow me are EVE Online and Badlands and Fez.

I have been working as a web developer for the past 6 years and I only started that because I wanted to get some experience into coding to start making games.

Lately I started making games. Small games. Unfinished games.

Now I want to integrate into the indie game community a little more, get to know you guys and gals.

Long story short, I like programming and I like helping people out. If you have a project and need a programmer PM me, maybe I can help. Programming languages and frameworks are not an issue, I adapt.
