oh, I forgot to mention Utopia.
That's where I got the nick from the first place. Wanted to roleplay this wacky farie with wierd names. Soon realised there we're not so much roleplaying in Utopia. So I started playing Mage: the Ascension with some friends. We thought all the dice-throwing was kindof destroying the game. So we skipped it and close to freeplayed and had to argument to the GM why our characters should succeed with their magic from the character´s point of view. That is how roleplaying should be, not all these dices and stats and such.

Hey Roast, looks like we have a couple of things in common. I love the Ridge Racer series as well (especially Type 4.) Knytt and Ico, they're among my top picks for 'relevant' games of the past generation or so. Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you too agj! Type 4 is definitely my favorite as well. Great music and great play mechanics. The 360 and PSP games are good too, but they just keep going and going and only rarely pose a challenge.

ah, yes, i remember doing that. Actually, that's how we've always played, since we're so bad at math, but our games take about ten minutes each, and always end with ridiculous deaths, like my friend trying to to pick me up and use me as a shield item. 'Cause doing anything takes about 5 turns. >_<

I should write something here, as I've been reading the blog for years but don't visit the forum all that often.

My name is Nils Perers, and I'm a dude from Dalarna, Sweden. I like to play small indie games, preferably those that are free and don't require installation. I also occasionally try to make my own games, but I rarely finish them or show them to the public.

My favorite genre is the RPG, because I like the sense of progress received from advancing in level, and I also like a good story. After that comes platformers, strategy and action games. I mostly don't like sports games, FPS games that try to be realistic or are based on a real conflict, horror games, point-and-click adventures or interactive fiction.

I prefer cats to dogs, night to day, water to beer, computers to television, bicycles to cars, and apples to oranges.

Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

The 360 and PSP [Ridge Racer] games are good too, but they just keep going and going and only rarely pose a challenge.

Never played those. I want to get RR2 for PSP because of the prospect of playing all those tracks from older games in a single game. (And because of Reiko in the opening video.) They do look seem to lack the magic, though.

So... hello. Again. I know I posted in this thread already, but immediatly after that, I vanished for about a month without really having been part of the forums (and I sounded a bit like an arrogant asshole). Thus, let's all pretend the previous self-introduction didn't exist (I deleted the post, don't worry).

So... hello. Because of a serious lapse of creativity four-odd years ago, I go by the screen name of "Akatosh". I'm 17 years of age, live in Germany, and I've been developing stupid little freeware games for about three years, using AGS (a list is included in my AGS forum profile). Since I was stuck with first an Amiga, then an obsolete computer without internet access, then a slightly-less-but-still obsolete computer with a 56K modem and now a somewhat aged PC with DSL (woo!), I've gradually developed a dislike for graphics-intensive multiplayer games, and thus a liking for small but fun indie-games. My favourite genre probably is RPG (single player), then Adventure, then TBS, then RTS, then all kinds of action/arcade games, then MMORPGs (expect for Kingdom of Loathing), then sports games, then simulations (urgh).

I'm still planning of entering in some sort of competition on these forums some day, but my lack of ambition usually gets in the way. Still, this seems a nice enough place to stay at.

Hello ladys and gents, I'm "Battlerager" (oh wow, what an insight  Undecided)

Like that Akatosh chap, I'm also from Germany.
I'm currently 19 years old, I love video games, music, and video game music.

Writing, Arranging and Recording music is what I do most of the time.
I enter Dwelling Of Duels from time to time (http://dod.vgmix.com) and I hope to make some music for a game someday, so if you need music for your game and are kind/crazy enough to let a total noob take a stab at it, shoot me a message  Wink

P.S.: I'm improving my sound quality all the time (buying new mics/software/stuff), but MIDI is really the stuff I (more or less) excel at.  Smiley

Excellent! Your Swedish roots will ensure that you produce excellent indie games, earning England kudos in the process.

Where in England are you, just out of interest? There's going to be a TIGS meet in London on July 7th, I believe, though I won't be there as I'm going to Italy two days beforehand. Plenty of people seem to be going, though. And Kinten, who I believe is also a Swede.

Hello!

I'm a long time Games Tester/QA type. I've previously worked at Codemasters, Lionhead and Ninja Theory. I currently do QA for a company that makes a machinima tool.

I've been a gamer since the age of four, and have fallen in love with games from all genres. My favourites include the usual suspects and a few older stalwarts; ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Rez, Outrun, Wizball, Portal, Pokémon, Dungeon Master and various others. On the indie front, Kenta Cho's noiz2sa was probably the game that made me realise how much awesome stuff is going on. Since that, Nifflas, Cactus, messhof and Omega (Every Extend) have all impressed me.

In my spare time, I compose and produce music, and would like to offer my services here on the boards (Which I'll do in a separate thread soon). I also joined because this seems like a friendly, interesting community.

My name is Tom Söderlund, game designer/producer/developer from Stockholm, Sweden, but currently based in Boston, USA.

I started working with games professionally in 2000, when I co-founded a studio called It's Alive. We did pervasive games, mainly mobile location-based stuff. The game BotFighters was our only "hit" - although it received more attention from the press than from the public.

It's Alive was bought by Daydream. I quit and joined the small publisher Synergenix, who in turn was bought by Kayak Interactive, became Blaze, then was bought again by Oberon Media. Feels like those Russian matryoshka dolls...

We did a few games that made me proud along the way: the puzzler Pixudoku, the Slinky arcade game, and two Da Vinci Code games (developed by the awesome studios SouthEnd Interactive and Impressionware).

Then I quit Oberon and promised myself never to be an employee again. Big organizations tend to play it safe, and I want to create games that challenge our presumptions. I'd much rather create something disruptive than something well-polished. There's too much navel gazing in the commercial games business, and that's I love the independent games movement.

Right now I work on a location-based strategy game called Geo, and my own exergaming start-up Zyked.

I have 100's of game concepts/designs, and a handful of them that I think would be amazing if they were realized. If you are an artist or developer and interesting in collaborating, please let me know.

Regards,

Tom.

Hey there.

I'm MKG (IRL Brittany).  Been gaming since I was a kid, I'm addicted to it.  I'm open to all types of games, though I prefer platformers and RPGs.

I haven't been up on the indie game scene for very long, but I'm increasingly attracted to it.  I would love working on something of my own, but I'm not exactly great at pixel art.  And I can't code.  But I love doing art...and I would love to do a collab with someone.

So, yes, there's my introduction.   Smiley
