Hi everyone! I'm really new here, in fact this is my first post! Grin

My name is Desmond Wong, and I'm an artist in the games industry!

I've worked in Koei Tecmo for 2 years, and was part of Fatal Frame and the Dead or Alive projects. Now I co-founded my own game studio, The Gentlebros, and we're hard at work on our first game!

The game that really made me realize that this was what I wanted to do was Metal Gear Solid 1 for the original Playstation. It was so good and made me realise games were more than jumping over holes and breaking crates.

I still play and enjoy games today, and some of my favorite games are the Elder Scrolls series and now more recently the Souls series.

I'm primarily an artist, and I love doing art. If anyone is interested, do hit my website here:
http://desmondwoot.wix.com/desmondwong

Thanks for reading the long post and have a great day!

So a few years ago I made a post in this thread and so much have happened since, so I am gonna go ahead and introduce my self again Smiley

My name is still Peter (so far so good)

Over the last year, we have decided to go from making apps to finally chase our dream of making and releasing games for the PC and Mac. This is something we have always wanted to do, but I guess we didn't "dare" to start there. So we made mobile games for some years while learning how to make games, and now we are taking the deep plunge in to PC game making Smiley

We still love talking to other people, developers and players alike, so if you are just curious or maybe want do discuss specific gamedev topics, feel free to get in touch Smiley

I hope to start doing a proper dev log for our next game soon, thanks for reading my little post Smiley

Hi!
I'm Gereon from Germany.
My passion is software development and I always loved playing video games Hand Joystick.
Long ago I started programming on a ZX Spectrum (yea this little rubber key thing). My only intention was to have games to play, because of my addiction to video games. This surprisingly worked and I made dozens of simple games.
Later I worked many years as freelance developer (serious stuff - no games Smiley).
Gave this up to make indie games, I know I'm crazy...

Hi guys.

My name is Thomas, I'm from France, 23 years old, and I am working in a really cool video game studio. I think I can say I have the best employer ever !

I'm not a developer, I'm in charge of communication for the studio. If you'd see my developping skills, you'd definitely laugh !

Anyway, I love video games, and I'm happy I managed to get a job in that field !

So, this is my first post here, and definitely not the last one !

Hi! First post here.

So my name's François. I am a French Game designer. I've been making games since 10+ years. I'm particularly fond of games that allow players to make their imagination work and their brain steam.

I started playing on Sinclair and then went on Thomson TO7, Amstrad CPC 464, Mac SX, Amiga 500, PowerMac and then PC.
I also spend countless hours trying to convince myself I could play *REAL* games on my Amiga CD32. Well it's still hurting my pride. I wanted to share this with you guys as a proof of honesty. Oscar is still giving me epileptic nightmares. All those colors. My eyes are still bleeding... ( while Labyrinth of Time was really a great experience )

I'm a neither a big game swalower ( I play to only a few games ) nor a mega-technician ( I have been making may way to many different libs / languages as long as they fitted my needs).

I mostly enjoy the creation process and what that involves: excitement, frustration, oblivion, pain and so on.
So I spend the most of my time filling notebooks with my Pen. I only start coding when I am very excited about an idea and have turned it upside down a few times. I sometimes wish I could no-port my games and let them live on paper. I still need to figure out how I could do that.

I've released some games through the years and hopefully will release more. Anyway, I thought it could be interesting to share and discuss with you guys Smiley

That's it Smiley

Greetings fellow earthlings!
I am a 31 year old male human, who lives in Germany.
My gaming has almost always been done on home computers, starting with the Amiga500.

Two years ago I downloaded Game Maker and did a simple test brick-breaking game (1 level) to see if I could even do anything. Originaly planning on making a top down GTA game (my big dream), I read that you should start small. So I did and made 8 more levels to complete the brick-breaker. I learned alot, and had loads of fun. I still love to play it, even if it is glitchy.

After that I made 2 other games, which are also on my itch.io page.
Now I've started my first complex project (a tribute to Mechwarrior2) and plan on showing my progress in October.

Ahoyhoy!

27 year old dev/artists/writer from Ireland, checking in. I'm currently working a non game-related dev job but hoping to take the dive to full time game dev / art freelancing soon. I've been making games since I was an early teen, starting with QBasic, on to DirectDraw/C++, and then Direct3D/C++ later.

I'm now using Haxeflixel at the moment for most of my dev. I'm a 2d art kinda guy, I mostly use Clip Studio Paint for illustrations and I'm still trying to figure out a way to make game assets that I'm happy with.

I'm hoping to build a few small games over the next few months!

Hi I am Neal and this is my second post here(did not see this thread before). I just started on making games using Gamemaker: Studio and loved it ever since, although I just started on it I spend a couple of hours on it everyday. I live in Holland, Haarlem where I live with my parents and go to school. My favorite type of game would be a MMoRpg and that is also my dream to help create once in my lifetime. My bigest hope for the future is to make a living out of this.

Hey everyone! First post here, so I thought I'd start by introducing myself.
My name is Benn, I'm 28, and from Melbourne, Australia. I work full time programming mobile games, and work on my own stuff in my spare time. I've been a developer for about 5 years now, and one of my goals this year is to start networking a lot more with other developers (which is what lead me here!). Also, I love game jams!

Hello Everyone!
My name is Corey and I'm a part of an Australian based startup company called Dinger Apps. We've had a few quiet releases but now we've decided to get out there and join the community so again a big hello to everyone here.

Me myself I've been into games since I was 6 (Now 23), grew up on the N64 played the greats, love and still love Banjo Kazooie. The music from that game turned me into the wannabe composer I am today. God Bless Grant Kirkhope.
That's about all there is to know off the bat, I'm sure we'll learn more about each other as we go, so that'll be all from me for now.

Thanks, Corey

P.S I'll be posting a link to our new game in the Townhall if I've got that right? Let me know what y'all think ANY and ALL feedback would be appreciated.

P.P.S If anybody needs some sound work done I'd be more than happy to help.

Hi Derek!

We're SavySoda, indie game studio.

Trying to launch our game Pixel Starships!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/savysoda/pixel-starships-8bit-starship-management-strategy

Hoping you can check it out

The indie games community is so small... let's get to know each other!  So that when we end up meeting in person it's not too frightening.  You know, like I want to know that DrDerekDoctors is a conjoined twin with a nipple on his forehead before I actually see him live.

Let us know what you're all about... how did you get introduced to gaming?  What are your passions?  What makes you tick? Let's go!  Feel free to pimp a website or art or anything here, too.

I'll start, and I'm going to rock it so hard so that you'll all be shamed to rock it even harder:

My name's Derek, and I'm the editor-in-briefs of TIGSource.  Eternal Daughter, I'm OK, and Aquaria are the games I most commonly associated with.

I look like this when I'm riding the subway without having slept:

How did I get into games?  When I was very young my uncle bought a NES for my cousins hoping he could get into it with them, but it ended up being ME that got hooked.  Super Mario, man!  It was amazing.  From then on, I started designing games on paper with my friends.  When my parents got a computer, the first thing I did was start making games on them.  The rest, as "they" say, is history.

I tend to like lots of different types of games.  My all-time favorites tend to be that way because I associate them with good memories with family and friends... as a result, my (incomplete) list may seem a bit pedestrian.  Oh well! Grin

When Zelda 3 came around, wow!  That first sequence when you're wandering around in the rain, trying to follow Zelda's voice, really blew my mind when I first played it.  What an incredibly tense introduction.

The Zelda series has always had a fond place in my heart because of the time I spent playing it with my dad as a youngster.

Phantasy Star II - Wonderful RPG for the Sega Genesis and another one I played with my dad.  Along with having great presentation, it also contained one of the saddest events in videogame history (at least for me): the death of Nei to Neifirst. *Sniff* Cry

Street Fighter II - My friend's dad would make us say Buddhist mantras 1,000 for a single quarter to play this game, and we'd fucking do it just because we were so obsessed!  Seriously, it was all we talked about for like 3 years.  Until this game came along:

Doom II, natch!  I won't say much about this one.  I was approaching my teens when this came out and, what can I say, I dug the great graphics and extreme violence.

Castlevania: SOTN - Pure 2D gaming bliss after such a drought of good 2D games.  I was like an old man being introduced to Viagra after years of impotence.

To be honest, I haven't played an indie game that I've fallen in love with the way I did the games of the NES/Super NES/Genesis era.  Not sure if that's because I'm too old now to be wowed the way I was when I was a kid or whether I just haven't played that magical game yet.  Cave Story definitely came close:

One of the things I (and I know Alec, too) want to capture with Aquaria is that feeling of bliss when playing those games of yore.  When you get so caught up in a story or idea that you lose track of time.  If even a single player experienced that from the game, I'd die a happy man.

So that's me in a (game-oriented) nutshell.  What about you?

Hi everyone!

My name is Andy and I'm a web developer by profession, with dreams of living off the games I make someday. When I try to look serious in black and white pictures, it turns out something like this:

I currently live in Missouri, US but I used to live in London, UK. I got an MA in Interactive Media there. I've mostly made a random assortment of Flash games and some basic Unity games. Probably my highlight so far was participating in the Victoria & Albert Museum's first ever game jam, and sitting next to Terry Cavanagh (yes THAT Terry Cavanagh). Having Terry Cavanagh personally compliment your game jam game is a very inspiring thing. While I'm not pretending to be a better game developer, I'm usually discussing games and game theory.

I eat a lot of peanut butter. A lot.

Hello Everyone! My name is Lucas, otherwise know as SpockvsData on most sites. I want to start using this site to get more into game development.

I have been gaming most of my life, and enjoy many games from STALKER to Afterburner. I am really into emulating and also playing the older games that I have on their original hardware.

I am part of Jet Drift Studio with my friend, soap. I am primarily serving as a programmer on our projects.
I will be most active on the code sections of this forum!

Feel free to contact me about Unity development, I am always willing to learn something new.

Thank You all, See you around!  Gentleman

Longtime lurker, first time poster here. You know the deal. I'm a little more active on Twitter, so if you want to reach out then contact me there (@entropy_phi).

Noir Syndrome is probably my most notable game. It released on Steam last year. I mostly work alone, but my studio colleagues help run the place (while devoting time to their own projects).

In short, hello!

Hi there. My name is John Hiner and I've been playing video games almost as long as I've been talking. Some of my all-time favorites are probably yours as well: A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Symphony of the Night, Half-Life 2.

My interest in game development took a little longer to show itself, but game design is almost as interesting to me as the games themselves and I've had a pretty constant (though usually neglected) desire to make my own. I've dabbled in programming for a long time, worked on various little game projects here and there, and succeeded in making one 2 player prototype of an original idea that was at least well received by my friends.

Currently I write about video games for Pixel Dynamo as well as working on a book about the nature and value of pop-culture so, if I think about it realistically, I won't have time to develop my own games for a while. However, I'm pretty excited about helping to playtest some things and giving feedback here on TIGSource.

I think indie development is wonderful in part because it fosters smaller, more tightly designed games as well as experimentation. I'm fascinated by the idea of seeing what you can do within arbitrary limitations. When I daydream about developing games, I often imagine designing small games around limited control schemes or other self-imposed restrictions.

That's about it. 'Hope to see you around.

Hey!

First time posting on Tigsource.

I started seriously making games this year, but have lazily been making games for a couple years. 2015 I dedicated myself to working on games everyday and releasing one game every week.

Some are good, some are bad, but they've all been a fun learning experience.

My goal in life: Make as many games as I can.

Hello everyone,

It was recommended that I post here, so I will do my best. I must admit though, I'm not exactly sure what to type, and I'm rather intimidated by other people who have written so much.

I guess I'll just say what's simplest. I go by terblus and I make weird games using stencyl. I started making games a few years ago, but then stopped. Now I'm hoping to get creating again.
