Hi all. I'm a 26 year old lad from Finland. I have just started my career in the IT-business doing enterprise software. I don't have a lot of experience in making games, just a couple of very simple games done in XNA and PyGame. I'm hoping that one day I could transition to making games full-time. I joined TIGSource to stay updated on the indie scene, get motivated and see all the cool and creative stuff you guys are doing.
I've been a gamer pretty much all my life. I guess I owe it to my grandfather who worked with computers in the 80's. That meant I could have access to his "portable" computer. I did a little Googling and found the machine.
Those bring back some memories.
Some games I remember from those days are Sierra adventure games (LSL1, KQ1&3, Black Cauldron..), Prince of Persia, Alley Cat, Epyx Sport games... I do remember doing something with QuickBasic and getting it to print text and draw lines on the screen.
In the 90's I went the Sega way with Master System and Mega Drive. I have always had a console for gaming as well as a PC. Today I have a decent gaming computer, Xbox360, Wii and NDS to satisfy my inner gamer. I think i have a GameCube, original Xbox and Ps1 in the warehouse somewhere.
My favorite games are building and tycoon games, like SimCity, Transport Tycoon, Theme Park, Civilization etc. I'm hoping to do a small scale game along those lines one day.
Thanks for the great forum and all the awesome people and games here.
