Hi, I'm Gabriel!  I've been lurking for a while here. I play all kinds of games, but I check TIGSource everyday and some of my favorites have been from tips here.  Cave Story

I make games at www.invisiblewonder.net.  One day my boys will learn digital art and I'll have a complete studio!   Well, hello there!

Hi, I'm Erwin and I've been lurking here for years.

I've been interested in game development for as long as I can remember and started fiddling with it since Klik & Play came out. Before that I remember making games using .bat scripts!

I never finished and released any of my projects, except for a very small and rushed MMF game called "Downhill Santa". That was in 1999.

Since 2003 I've been working on and off on a classic point & click adventure game called "Bad Timing". It's being built in the wonderful SLUDGE engine. Here's a screenshot:

I also run Adventure Developers, a site about indie adventure game development.

Games that have, and continue to inspire me are Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Commander Keen, Wing Commander, and more recently, Mass Effect.

Hello there!

My name is Ben and I've been working on games for a while now, in some form or another.  For the last couple of years I decided to stop working on licensed games and focus on projects that I'd like to play instead.  =)  So I've spent this year working hard with Brawsome (I previously worked with them on Jolly Rover, which was a great experience), and now we're working on a top-down puzzle/adventure game called MacGuffin's Curse.  Here's an image of the game at the moment:

I'd love to talk more about it but I can only see a forum for finished games, not stuff in progress?  Ah well.  Anyway, I look forward to posting with the community members here, sounds like a nice bunch!  If you're in Melbourne and would like to meet up, I'm going to be at Freeplay this weekend, doing one of the talks there.

Cheers!

Hi everyone!

My name is Eric, currently employed as (and am primarily) a software developer. I've always wanted to write games since I was little, but never really took the time to take a serious stab at it. Until now. There's a couple niche areas in gaming that I've always wished there were more games for, so I decided that perhaps I could fill the gap myself.

Might as well reintroduce myself because I haven't posted in forever.

I code in C++.

That's about it.  I'm a senior in high school atm, and while I dunno if I'll be doing anything in game design longer term, it's a fun hobby.

Hi everybody!

I'm Pontus Lundvall, I'm 32, from sweden and into programming games. Back in the day, me and my friends made a game called Brutal Homicide for Amiga (a lovely 16-bit computer of the 90's) http://hol.abime.net/5520 It got very well received, but the fall of Commodore and the Amiga meant it didn't have a very good platform to continue to grow on. Its still playable in emulators.

Then I stopped making games for quite some time, until I started working at king.com programming different small casual games. I worked 5 years there and got to know that Notch guy real well. Once he quit his job and started working on minecraft, I felt like it was time to try something of my own also.

Now I'm working 60% part time at jalbum.net and remaining 40% I'm developing a new game called drug camp, sort of based on the now 15 year old game I made on Amiga. Here's a info site http://drugcamp.com

It looks something like this;

It's a persistent multiplayer thing revolving around a fortress guarding a drug farm. So sort of persistent multiplayer action farmv1lle and tower defense all rolled up into one. There's also a very (very) big persistent forest surrounding the camp which you can explore and collect resources from. It's all coming along real nice, but its not available yet.

An earlier milestone of this game (Project Brutal) is playable in either single or multiplayer: http://rocten.com/pb It plays more like a simple top down counter strike. It will give you a good feel for the controls and the basic game play, and is real fun if you get a buddy or four playing with you.

Another thing. Both these projects are written in assembler, on my own custom hardware platform which is then emulated in Adobe Flash. Further on, I will expand on this and add an emulator written in C/OpenGL too, taking it to iPhone and such.

It's all kinda crazy design, but its also one of the key factors I managed to keep motivation up. It's just like coding your own little dream console, only that the stuff will run anywhere I want!

Here's a history of my gaming. I grew up in the super nintendo era, but never owned the console Sad I always looked forward to play street fighter and super mario world at my cousins house.

My first console was a playstation that I shared with my bro. I had crash bandicoot and demo disks that were on heavy rotation. My favorite games were final fantasy vii and marvel vs  capcom. I also played pokemon red from start to finish during this period.

Later on I got a gameboy advance and megaman battle network became an obsession. Other notable mentions: golden sun and Zelda link to the past, legacy of goku(DBZ fanboy). When the ps2 came out, I played final fantasy 9 but never finished(never got to face sin Sad). I've experimented in rpg maker 2000 and mugen, and i liked to modify games and systems.

I got into competitive gaming, playing against other players on marvel vs capcom and counterstrike 1.6 online. Nowadays I am still playing counterstrike(because it's so fun) and playing classics like metal gear solid on emulators. I am beginning to learn c++ and taking a class at college. I'm also taking a drawing class so I can design the visual aspects of games. I found this forum after discovering cave story on a an animation forum, and I hope to discover and explore more of the scene.

Hi there!

After lurking for a while i finally decided to join in on the fun.
I am a hopeful lone developer and i just started my first serious project using Unity3D witch I find easy to use and a good way to start out for a newbie like me. I come fram a VBA background, making automated reports for a big norwegian company, but fortunately Unity3D made the transition to Java surprisingly easy. I have tried to make games in Excel for a while, but find the Excel engine quite limiting to work with, but not impossible. All just for fun ofcourse.

I just quit my day job to work fulltime on my childhood dream to make good games. For as long as I can remember I have been playing and thinking about games. Lately I become very sad when I look at the marketing and the attitude towards their costumers when I see the AAA companies. I thought that this is the way it is and if you want to be a game developer you need to work at the big studios, or make free to play games financed by ads.

That was until I found Minecraft. Notch made me realize that there is room for someone in between aswell. People just want to play good games when it comes down to it. He made me realize you actually can make good gameplay without huge budgets.

So here I am, taking my leap of faith, hoping not to fall flat on my face.

-eArtist

PS: Even though I look up to Notch I´m not making a minecraft clone Wink

Hello everyone !

I've been lurking here for a while now, finally got registered.

I'm Isabelle, I live in France. I'm a developper, up to 2010 I had been doing web development as a freelancer, mostly in e-commerce. Since then, I had the opportunity to work on several browser / social games.

This year, I'm working on a first flash game and it's much more fun for me Smiley Looks more than the videogames I played as a kid.

Hi Everyone

I figured it was about time I introduced myself on here.
My name is Devin Reimer and I am the founder of AlmostLogical Software.
When I'm not developing games, I'm generally doing Flash and Unity freelance work.
I have a Computer Science Major from the University of Manitoba.

My blog is http://blog.almostlogical.com and this is where I show experiments, open source projects and announce new stuff I'm working on.

Some of you might know me as the guy that created "So Many Rooms" and ran that global game jam out of Winnipeg, MB, Canada. http://somanyrooms.com

I've never been a huge fan of forums but I'm going to make a better effort to browse around in here and add what I can to the community.
