This account was mostly made to try to spread the awareness of our games. That and to get feedback on them and advise in general. That pretty much sums that up and gets the honest bits out of the way.

That said, I personally have been  long time lurker of these forums having first discovered them through games like EnviroBear 2000 and Spelunky. Never had anything to really say before or add to the community here that would warrent the ::effort:: of account registration before, but hey, now I do. So look forward to taking part in this forums discussions and hopefully getting some feedback on the games we are developing while I'm at it  Smiley

Hello, my name is Michele, I am a 24 years old and in live in Bergamo, Italy. I am currently finishing my master thesis in Automation Engineering and will get my degree this december. After that, I plan to start a PhD, which if all goes well will be based on game developement.

I love videgames and have been playing them since I was able to pick up a joystick. Smiley I also love making them, or at least trying to. I finally started a more serious project last year, during the course of Videogame Design and Programming at my university, which spawned Xenophonic, my fist, and hopefully not last, game.

I decided to join the site because I am now nearly completion of the game and I am looking for feedback!

Nice to meet you. Smiley

Gentleman Hi everyone Enzed here, a handle I just thought of ten minutes ago. But call me Nathan if you want to. Anyway, I've been ghecking TIGsource.com for a year or two now, but only really just checked out the forums. I'm from New Zealand, and it's pretty sweet over here, apart from the occasional earthquake. Good sun, not bad wine, and relative "freedom".

Anyway, some games I've played around with.. I started when I was about 3, playing on my parents Atari 130XE, the old nes-era "PC" from the mid-80s. Had some good, if difficult and brief, games on it, some original and some arcade/nes/C64 ports. The one I remember the most were: Henry's House, Tapper, Bruce Lee (one of the best!), Donkey Kong (a rather accurate arcade port), Gumball (SUCH a hard fucking game!), Choplifter, Joust (2-player co-op is NEVER a bad idea in a game!), Qix, and Spy VS Spy series, they were funny. Oh and that rare old xmas game, Special Delivery, that was classic.

Anyway after the Atari we didn't really have any consoles, just home PCs with mainly below-average games at the time ("the time" was the early 90s, I'm 23 now). But every so often I'd get a go on my cousins NES, playing nothing but Super Mario Bros of course, and learning all the secrets/glitches! Oh a schoolmates Sega, just playing the hell out of Alex Kidd cos we didn't really have any other games except Mickey And The Castle Of Illusion, or something like that.

PC games all of a sudden seemed to get better when I got a boxed copy of Lemmings 2 for my birthday! That game was HUGE and really varied. There were other wicked games too which my younger brother and I would get obsessed in, like Doom, Quake (came free with our 56k modem! First online game I tried), and Age of Empires cos our crazy old aunt won it, and she doesn't know what a computer is really, so she gave it to us.The first 2 Monkey Island games, OF COURSE, I mean the only reason they were never that popular over here is because they weren't really part of the shareware scene.. Oh well. Then we'd get bored of them and go back to the Atari, and I found a bunch of books on coding in Basic so I started learning a bit of that too, it was good fun.

Then, finally good-looking 3D games started to come out, like Half Life, it's sequels, and it's imatators, and the rest is history I guess. More or less. Now I'm really into indie platformers and RPGs... and anything else that catches my eye, I guess. The best two by far are Spelunky and ADOM, I've played that for 5 years and never really gotten above level 20. I'll still try though, till the day I die I guess, same with Spelunky. I've got something like 1500 deaths and 2 wins; good times.

Well I guess that's enough for now, maybe sometime I can tell you about the game my brother and I havbe just started developing.

Ciao, nice to meet you all!

Hello,

My name is Piotr and I'm from Poland. I like games starting from maybe '85, when got Atari 2600 with Pitfall, later played titles like Montezuma's Revenge (Atari 800XL) or Rick Dangerous (Amiga). Always loved adventure or platform games.

First, started programming on Atari, then Amiga, PC till today.

Now, I'm software developer and my daily work is about developing (boring) business solutions, but I also make some gfx and design.

After hours I like games and always wanted to make my own, so I have started January this year a project and still work on it. Its name is Diamond Jack. It is a 2d platformer for Android with social features.

Game screenshots:

Soon will get out to public with beta version available. I hope I find here some feedback for my work.

Thank you!

Hi there!

My name is Zsolt Bartok, I live in Hungary and I spend a lot of time playing - and nowadays creating - computer games. I have been visiting this site for a long time simply looking for cool games to play, but after releasing my first game that I am not ashamed of, it is high time to join the community! Wink

I play games like GeneRally, GTA series, clever games like Braid. I find most AAA titles boring, I am more and more a casual gamer. I play the guitar, I write and perform songs and try to be better at pixelart. I love reading, mostly sci-fi stuff.

I also make games. Right after getting my C+4 I started to discover the joy of programming and making games. Game creation has been a hobby of mine ever since. I have been experimenting with Pascal, Flash, C and recently I ended up with Game Maker.

I created an action game called Ragmeg Alleycat, a bike messenger themed dodging game. It looks like this:

A short video of the gameplay:

Thanks for reading my post, wish you happy gamimg!

The Obligatory Introduce Yourself Thread

You know these few epic special moments while your childhood which you never will forget? These great awesome exciting moments when your heart is at the highest excitement level you will ever be able to reach, which burns into your memory and melt down you brain? I wanna share with you some of mine.

- When I was young, i had a high-end 486pc with 33mhz Wink and tried thousand times to run WarcraftI, but the requirements of RAM was just to high... But I was to young and didn't understand that. I just thought I had no luck today and tried it again tomorrow, day after day,  all day long... But some day my father added unobserved another RAM bar and i was pure exited when it surprisingly worked Smiley  ya, that was a awesome feeling!!! Some years later i edited the files of this game and was able to create close combat orcs Spearman and such a nonsence Smiley I really reconfigured the whole balancing. Hehehe... that's how I stated.

Ya, as child you are so helpless and full of thankfulness!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOpOhlGiRTM

- The same feeling hit me like a nuke when I started to play dune2 without a manual/ handbook. I had no clue of the existing units and then a supporting carry-all dropped me a daaammnn huge SIGETANK right into my base!! I was soooo epic shocked of this fatsized mighty heavy new unit, pure awesome fascination!  Guess what,... a Tribute of mine. Smiley

- And it even got better when I was able to watch the looping “cinematic”-demo of duneI with my brand new creative Soundblasters!!! Endless hypnotizing!

Howdy folks. Like quite a few of the you here, I grew up during the 8 and 16 bit eras. The wonder I experienced as a kid never quite left me, so I'm stuck in low-res mode and will probably never leave.

Got my game dev start using Klik & Play, The Games Factory, and Multimedia fusion. Joined the Klik community in 2000-ish at the ripe age of 13. Released a few embarrassing games, under a few embarrassing aliases that (I hope) will never be extracted from the pits of the internet. At least I tried, even though I was always (and still am) an awful coder. I also met my best friend there who, crazily enough, happens to live nearby now. We started a few 'companies' but never really did much.

In late 2006 my interest in games waned as I focused more on getting my spiritual and philosophical bearings in order. Along with that came an intense interest in music, which I still consider my favorite form of expression. I'm totally a 70's prog/art-rock nerd, but I dig everything, challenging or not.

I currently have two games in the works. One of them, titled The Trembling Bridge, is a surreal low-res platformer where the game world transforms around the protagonist as he explores it. It will represent the the turmoil and chaos that ensues when one's perception and ideologies are shattered as they're drawn nearer and nearer to God and the truth. In a nutshell, it's my attempt at expressing my faith in a meaningful, non-cheesy, way.

The other is a simpler version of the traditional Lucas Arts old school adventure genre, with more of a focus on atmosphere and ambience. It will feature a clown named Dropsy, which I'm sure quite a few here will remember from the Something Awful forums:

Here's the Kickstarter I've got running for it: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jaytholen/dropsy-a-different-take-on-the-old-school-adventur/posts

I think that about wraps it up. I'm excited learn and grow with you guys. Coffee

Hi! My name is Kent.

I got hooked into game since the first day i held the computer, around 3 or 4 years old. i hail from the east side of the world, grew up and learned about gaming in Japan. So while most of the others i would think here got an NES, i had the famicom. i grew up loving games like mario, and remembering the good old Duck Hunt days. street fighter got me going at home and the arcades.

I grew up to be applications developer, but somehow on a different path in the IT industry, and i'm looking back to why i even decided to learn how to program and get a degree in CS. So I'm starting to develop games that i've dreamed to make back when i was a kid and learn a lot from this site as i go along the way.  Grin

Hope to gain your support and learn a lot from you guys.  Smiley

Hey I'm BoG. Long time lurker, first time poster. I decided it was about time to get in to the conversation. I've been gaming forever, and over time my focus has moved away from the mainstream to independent games. This is do both a love of the old school, and no money to spend on games.

Hello there, my name is Mark, I enjoy programming, drawing and long walks on the beach.

Actually not really, too lazy for walking irl.

I program warehouse management software by day (which is exactly as fun as it sounds), but in my spare time I love all aspects of game design and creation, from an artistic perspective and a programming perspective, it's the one thing I am truly passionate about. I love the way indie games push boundaries and often strive towards innovative new ideas and fun gameplay, and one day maybe I will be able to earn a living from making my own games! As is the goal of many people on these forums I bet Smiley

I'm currently developing a game for iOS called Super Block Monster (totally non-retarded name amirite?) Here's some screen shots of the title screen and a couple of the 'Temple' level.

Shadows got added in after reading the 2D Shadow tutorial on these forums - refining to do but it was such a nice and simple idea I had to give it a blast.

It's a continuing work, but it's slowly getting there - sometimes a challenge to get things done when you're working a full time job as well! I've programmed it all from scratch and drawn all the graphics and such, it's been fun - but level design is... taxing.

So yeah, thats me in my current iteration. NICE TO MEET YOU

Hey, I'm Grahame, Grayfox, or MajorPest depending on where you find me. I love games. Games like Metal Gear Solid and Battlefield. I got laid off recently and decided I'm gonna make some cool games. I'll be hanging out here, if that's cool.

Hello, my name is Gytis, from Lithuania.

I always liked to play computer games and later when I learned about programming, I wished to make one. First I tried in C++ with directx, but it was to difficult and confusing, so some time later I download DarkBasic Pro, made couple simple games like pong and breakout, started at space shooter and Darkbasic begun to slow down. After some search I found about xna. Ported my other games to xna, and made some progress in Space Shooter, but got bored of it (I only made it for learning experience). I allways liked sandbox style games, where what you can do or create is limited by your imagination, so I started creating new game.

Its called 'Adventure of Stickman', its sandbox style game, here some screenshots:

Youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRO8OGLYVLk

Its inspired by terraria, minecraft and other similar games.
