Hello ya'll,
My name is Bryson Whiteman! I'm from Los Angeles, CA and work as Flash developer (with a focus on games). You can check out some of my stuffs at
sonofbryce.com.
I grew up on console games, heavy into Nintendo and Sega throughout my childhood. I had an NES and was addicted to Super Mario Bros, Castlevania, and Contra. When I first saw Zelda, it blew my mind. Something about the non-linearity of it, I figure. I eventually got my own copy of Zelda 2 and it's still one of my favorite games. Some more faves are Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers and the epic Super Mario Bros 3 and Battletoads.

Zelda 2 is my shit
I got a Super Nintendo early on and my mind continued to be blown. Super Mario World, Super Castlevania IV, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Zelda 3, Starfox, Super Mario Kart, Secret of Mana. Good just kept getting better! I was devoted to Nintendo but Sonic the Hedgehog changed that. I saw a commercial and got obsessed with Sonic. Finally got to play it at a friends.
Then Sonic 2 came out. By 4th grade I was begging for a Sega Genesis.
So I flipped into a Sega fan instantly. Exposed to all the great action games on Genesis. Sonic had me hooked, I dug Blue Sky's games (Ren & Stimpy and Vector-Man), X-Men, etc.
I was hardcore into Sega but became split when SNES started coming out with stuff like Donkey Kong Country. I played it to death at my cousins. Then a friend exposed me to Chrono Trigger. I was familiar with Final Fantasy, but it always looked boring to me. After getting hooked on Chrono Trigger I needed to find any RPG I could get my hands on! Super Mario RPG came out around that time and I played it to death at my cousin's.

Ok, I guess I like menu driven RPGs now...
When it came to debating the path of Saturn and PS1, it was an obvious Sega to me. I had got into Virtua Fighter and Sega was king of arcade, no contest right? Saturn was mostly about NiGHTS and Guardian Heroes to me.
I managed to get ahold of a PS1 by the time Square released FF7.
I can probly stop there? On PS1 I was into Resident Evil, anything Square, Castlevania: SotN, Parappa, Intelligent Qube is the shiet, Metal Gear Solid, etc.
Then came Dreamcast... etc etc.
During college I developed Flash games in my spare time, with my high school friend Ricky Enriquez. I had worked with him on comics in high school, and he did all the character art work for the games we were working on.
The first was Thugjacker. Initially, I wanted it to be a Castlevania style game but Ricky wanted to do a beat 'em up. I studied a lot of beat 'em ups on MAME and whatnot, mostly drawing inspiration from Streets of Rage 3.
Then I did a game about a tank shooting flowers that make people happy...
I did a quick game to act as an intro to a larger game...
Now I'm working on a game about a cop catching donuts?
Working on
a DevLog for Donut Get! And that's about it!
