My name is Will and I'm 24 years old.

I'm currently finishing art school and I'm interested in digital painting and animation.

I'm also a compulsive reader and writer, and I strongly believe in the power of stories and great narrators. I think that videogames should be more focused around storytelling. I'm a big fan of L.A. NOIRE, talking about mainstream games, and think that there should be more similar experiments.

My all times best are Metal Gear Solid series and...

Pokémon Series! Yeah, I totally love them.

Hopefully, I want to apply my skills to indie gaming, and I'm moving my first steps in Unity 3D.

I know I'm going to have a great time here so... hi. Smiley

Hi, Huseyin from Turkey here. I'm a software developer and indie, whom loves to play games & develop them. For a while I've been reading tigsource and decided that I should be registering and posting my own work for some feedback.

Thanks for the great site!

Hi,

my name is André, I'm a student from Berlin, Germany.
I'm here to introduce myself because I've been reading on this forum for quite some time now and wanna participate more.  Grin

I started gaming as a kid with the SNES and the GameBoy...ah, the memories. Wink I'm a huge fan of the classics like Mario World 1 + 2, Zelda, Mario Kart, ...
Well, after that I played a lot of PS1 at a friends house and really got into gaming. I also started PC-gaming around 1998 and one of my all time favorites is Grim Fandango, if anybody knows this gem...sadly it didn't sell that well...would love to see a sequel or remake.
Anyway, I've been passionate about games ever since and started making textures and levels for the Source Engine a few years back.
For 2-3 years or so I'm heavily into indie-games because - lets face it - mainstream-games are (mostly) not what they used to be. I just love the open-minded indie spirit, thinking outside the box and trying new things.
Thats why about 1 or 2 years ago I moved from level-design to making indie-games myself.
I will soon start posting infos on my current project...but not yet. Wink

Alright, before this turns into an essay, I'll stop right here. Grin
See you in the forum...

Hello,

I'm Robby.  Been kicking around in the industry for a while, and decided to burn up my savings and try my hand at being an indie dev.  It's great being able to make the game I've always wanted to make, and to meet players directly.  It's the first time I've ever had a super tight iteration loop where I can get player feedback, make changes, and see if people like the changes -- all as simple as uploading a new build and posting on twitter.

Dear TIG forum people,

Let me introduce myself. I'm a thirty-something indie games lover from Belgium.
I am about to start out the development of my first game, tentatively named "CIA 2065".

I love trying new games and I love voicing my opinions, so I have already begun spreading my two cents into the feedback forum like I'm the federal reserve. Also, I love to exaggerate.  Wink

Aside for indie games, I like some non-indie games, board games, science fiction magazines like analog, math and art, both ancient and modern (the latter help me pretend I'm not a total nerd).

Amazingly, I also happen to have a life  Shocked

Some of my favorite indie games have been VVVVVV, The Binding of Isaac, Tidalis (except for the HORRIBLE story), Machinarium and especially COGS

I'm currently intrigued by Dwarf fortree: I've played one full game which of course ended up in armageddon, but much later than I had anticipated (I could finish the tutorial, play for a while, resists a couple of sieges before entering the never-ending spiral of psychopathic grief).

Looking forward to discussing with you all.

Greetings ! (and please forgive me somehow ommiting this thread earlier)

I'm Michal but friends call me Mike (which is basically the same thing). I'm in my late twenties and I live in Poland. Currently I'm a freelance programmer for a living, unfortunatelly my current job has nothing to do with game development.

I'm a gamer for over two decades. My favourite indie games are Iji and Battle for Wesnoth. From non-indies I enjoy most of the retro shmups (favourites being "Raptor: Call of the Shadows" and "Tyrian 2000") but I also play a wide range of other games.

I made my first game in Turbo Pascal long time ago and since then I made a few attempts at game development using different technologies but unfortunatelly most of them failed. Today I feel rather confident with Flash technology  and I'm giving game making another shot. I also usually make all the graphics for my games but I obviously fall behind proffesional artists on that field.

Also big thanks to all the participants of this forum! I've already learned a lot from you.

Hello my name is Jacob, or going by the internet Octopiesaurus. I live in Australia and have been stalking most of tis forum for a good 5 years, probably since i was 12. So I'm 17 and still in high school so when i do make something it is an elongated and rushed process. Thus i would class myself as a casual developer of sorts.

I've been following and lurking the scene for such a long time that i finally feel like i should jump in and get more involved by helping to create. Music and art are my forte (see what i did there) and i have been involved heavily with both for many years now, i play a good dozen instruments as well as small kids instruments (kazoo, ocarina etc) as well and play with all types of art styles.

Im interested in developing more experience with pixel art and programming and creating games as a hobby over long periods of time just casually, at the moment I'm more focused on completing high school with a good op (basically a placement score that allows you to apply for particular uni courses) then focusing completely on game development.

So tigsource i love your community that I've stalked for 5 years, love me too and teach me your ways.  Corny Laugh

Hello everybody!

My name is Dylan and I live in Australia. I've been visiting these forums on and off for a little while now (honestly I'm not really sure how long, at least a couple of years), but never got around to registering.

Most of my game development forum posts have been over on the Ogre3D forums. I've got experience with various programming languages including C++ but my preferred language is C# because that's what I use in my day job. For that reason, I mostly work with C# wrappers around C++ libraries.

Technically, I've been developing games since I was 12 back in QBASIC on DOS. I've always had an interest in game development but my career path lead me into application development so that's what I do for a day job.

I've never really lost that strong feeling that I want to develop games so I do it in my spare time. I've not really completed a game project since my teen years (at first I thought it seemed to be easier back then, but now I think it's more to do with taking on overly abitous projects).

My most notable achievement in recent years is an open source scene editor for Ogre called Glue Editor. It does the job, but honestly it's not exactly what I intended it to be. Sometime, I'd like to get back to it and turn it into a fully fledged level editor.

My current project is a firt person puzzle game. You can see a video of the prototype here.

I hope to become part of the TIG community and finally finish a game this year! Smiley

Hello everyone! My name is Sergio Díaz (My friends call me Seich), I from Honduras a small country in Central America which isn't particularly famous for anything. I've been a long time visitor of these forums but never got quite around to registering and participating but, I am trying to change that.

I am currently a student, I am studying computer science at the moment and do a lot of side projects on my spare time. I love video games and have recently decided I want to make them. I've built a couple of prototypes and will (hopefully) build a complete game soonish as I get  little more into the scene. I hope I can be an active member of the community.

I am mostly a programmer with various levels of experience on various languages and want to change this, getting a little into pixel art since it's probably my favorite part of my favorite games.

P.S. I just noticed there's a panda smiley Panda which is great because I love pandas.

Hello.

My name is Jeremy Griffith, and I love video games.  I became hooked on games, thanks to the Super Nintendo and its amazing library of experiences.  Now 19+ years later, I am still partial to console video games, but love the freedom and courage that indie games express on all platforms.  My favorite games range from Final Fantasy series to Katamari Damacy to Flower.  I am always amazed at how ThatGameCompany managed to evoke such deep emotions from mere flower petals.

Some of my side hobbies are juggling, paperkraft, and playing handbells.  I have been programming off and on for a couple of years and am a student of computer science.  I have also dabbled with art using photoshop and illustrator as well as music using tracker software; it is all so interesting.  So many game ideas float around in my mind with so much to learn.  I look forward to getting involved in this community.

Hello TIGsource! I’m Jace Boechler, a 20 year old artist and aspiring indie dev from Edmonton Alberta Canada. I’ve always been a lurker when it comes to the indie game community, as I follow the escapades of many indies yet I never seem to reach out to communicate with any of them. I think I am (*cough* was) somewhat intimidated by the idea of reaching out, as I am deeply inspired by many of the projects in development right now.

So here’s the thing,  I’ve had a minor epiphany recently. If  I want my life to go where I want it to then I’m going to have to start communicating. Although I find it somewhat daunting, I am also thrilled at this opportunity. I want to collaborate with people, build my portfolio and make stuff that I could otherwise never dream of making on my own, maybe even get a job. So yeah, I want to make games more then anything and I want to do it with people who feel the same way!

Having gotten that of my chest (I'm all pumped up now!), here's some stuff about me and my work.

I've been working on a game since 2008 using GameMaker, about a year ago I restarted the entire project from scratch and have redone all my initial work and more since then, which feels great. I did this because I was never really trained in the art of coding and till a year ago, was making stuff up as I went. Now I feel quite comfortable with what I'm doing, although only with GML as of now.

Having said that, my strong suit has always been making graphic art, which I have been doing all my life. When working on my game, I try to visualize it in the same way as my artwork, with an aim to craft experiences that play with your emotions and engage you critically. Although I must say, it's not like I expect my artwork to trigger some radical emotional response from everybody, let alone effect anybody at all Tongue . But I digress, if my artwork/games can effect even one person in a positive way, I can die happy.

So that's it I guess. I really look forward to conversing with you all and collaborating.

If you want to contact me or see my artwork, check out my website REM-sleep.ca.

Hi!

My name is Dan! I'm an indie developer from Florida. My favorite game all time is Diablo 2 and my dream is to make a game just as epic! I'm working on a game right now in Java, which is my main programming language (plus I feel a lot more encouraged ever since Minecraft came out).

Looking forward to meeting y'all! :D
