Hi guys!

My name is Osman but no one really calls me that, it's just Oz. I'm a hybrid of artist/programmer, but  more artist Smiley.

I started when I was very young, but it was only a hobby of mine. I created models for very old games and slowly realised I could do this for a living. So I got my first gig as a freelancer and worked some small'ish games( Blood Bowl) and soon I got my first real on-site job at Splash Damage. I worked on Brink and a year later moved back home to the Netherlands to work as a technical artist at a small company called Isotx.

I liked the switch from artist to technical artist and explored more in terms of programming and then a year later( last januari) decided to start my own little company together with a colleague from Splash Damage. We are now working on our first game called RoboMinion:

And inbetween I worked on small prototypes and also did a game for the Unity 3.5 competition, here's a video of that:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ctiGs_aEs

And I'm also doing a lot of experiments and I hope to compete in Ludum Dare and perhaps some other jams Smiley Very new to this stuff, but so far it's been awesome.

Nice to meet you guys Smiley

Hi all, I'm Christina!

Goofy graduate picture of me is goofy.

I'm currently a graphic and web designer at a software company in San Diego, but I'm planning on professionally moving towards UI design and development. I'll be attending Berkeley later this Fall for graduate studies in it, so I'm stoked!

So I'm not really a game developer or designer, but I do love doing the wireframing and art for games. C: I'm also by no means a great graphic artist or artist in general, although I do well enough I guess. I've yet to actually complete my own game since it takes time to learn programming languages, and time I do not have. :S Most of the time I spend on game "developing" is to create high-fidelity mockups of potential game ideas I have and to create art assets for games that I aspire to one day find a partner to help me create. C:

I use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and my trusty old tablet. Currently all of my works have that "minimalist" "cutesy-vectored" look, but I'm going to migrate slowly to a more painted and drawn aesthetic. I don't really do much pixel work, but maybe that'll come much later down the line.

Hatch

I personally like more "artsy" games, but I play a slew of them. x3 I don't really aspire to keep doing this within the videogame industry, since my bullseye is currently centered on moving towards startups and silicon valley tech companies for their web and mobile applications, but I figure this will be a fun way to spend time and work on UI skills!

Hey all!

I'm new to this forum and to indie game development in general.

IRL my name is Jacob Clayman and I'm trying to either break into the Games industry either as a full-time employee or self-financed independent developer. You can see some of my general game development work here (mostly level design):

jacobclayman.webs.com

I was hoping I could utilize this site as a resource for feedback on some projects I've been working on.

Thanks!

Hi, my name is Felipe Ferreira.

I like a lot of stuff: drawing, science(I'm a grad student of Biology, but I'm trying to join in the medicine school), robotics, and programming. A legitimate nerd.

Hello!

My name is Alex, I'm a Games Design student at the University of Huddersfield. I've been into games for about 5 or 6 years but only started building them around a year ago since I realized if I went into industry the opportunities for putting my "Ideas" across to developers would be non existent, so I would have to make them myself ^^

For this I put together a small blog called AlexVsCoding which I used to record my progress in building my own games. The initial plod of learning to code gained speed when upon visiting Eurogamer Expo I came across Stencylworks after a chat with some of the indie folk. Since then I have been developing my first game, dual running platformer, Narcissus.

I've always had a love for games since a young age, going through the typical phases of being terrified of them as a child (DK Dinosaur Hunter, Rayman Gold and Descent 2), obsessed with them as a teen (Burnout 3, Halo, Left 4 Dead) and dabbled in them as a grown up (Cry of Fear, Time Fcuk, Rayman Origins). I spend a lot less time on major titles and more on fresh and new stuff that the indie community produce since lot of big games these days are more about the looks and I'm all about the gameplay mechanics ^^

I look forward to getting to know you all!

My name is Richard and I am now somehow just getting around to posting to this thread Smiley

My first video game memory was playing some atari 2600 space game in the dark in my parents' living room. It was first person perspective with lots of stars wooshing by and pew-pew sound effects. I can't find what it was called, but it was awesome.

My next major gaming memory was Arctic Adventure, which I downloaded on very slow modem from some BBS in the states. It was a lot of fun. From there, I just played a lot of games all the way up through the great dos shareware titles like keen and wolf3d and stuff. I later got more computers and played more games, and eventually got an snes. Super Mario World was the bomb-diggity. And zelda link to the past, which i didn't play until sometime much later was also amazing.

I've been tinkering with game development and modding for as long as I can remember (Duke Nukem 1 level editor, anyone? :D) and I've always enjoyed it. Now I am starting to make some (or rather, finish some) games to share with the rest of the world. I hope I am successful, in so much as I get to finish games, and you guys want to play them. Someday, in the distant future in a galaxy far away, i'd like to make games for a living.

Huzzah.  Gentleman

If you want to look at some of the first stuff I've finished or read my general ramblings, feel free to follow me on twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/whilefun)

Cheers,
Richard

Hello.  I'm Slashandz.  I've been making really simple games for a while now as a hobby.
They're nothing professional, but hopefully you'll enjoy them anyways.

I came to this forum to post one of my games, Jack the Mage, just to see what people thought.
I put it up for download here: http://slashandz.blogspot.com/p/test.html

If you like it, that's really great!  If not, I'm sorry to waste your time. Concerned
Anyways, it's nice to meet everyone.

My Name is GarlicGuy...
or Sean if you want to use Real names...
I should call myself a self taught sprite artist and game dev, aside from a few art courses in college.

People say I don't seem like the type to even bother playing video games let alone make them. I enjoy playing a good game every once in a while, but not often.

Hi. My name is Thiago.

Currently, I am an indie game developer making games with two friends (we named our team as "Horama Studios").
I love games like Super Metroid and Castlevania SOTN, so when I saw Cave Story I thought "I want to be an indie game developer".
The path is tough and for now we only have one title (for Android), but we are working on a new title (on spare time).

Behold, for I am here to bestow upon all of you the glorious presence of I, J. M. Stark!

Actually, I am just some lazy, boring middle class kid in the middle of the desert who makes (or tries to make) video games and not much of anything else. As I had said, glorious!

I mentioned my laziness, and now I will prove it by putting it into practice by lazily putting together a brief introductory post that is not nearly as elaborate as some of the others in this thread.

Here are the five games that have the most influence on my design philosophy and tastes:

Super Mario 64

Return to Wonderland

Sonic Robo Blast 2

Portal

A Link to the Past

And even more embarrassing is my incredibly sloppy blog, http://edificeofenterprise.blogspot.com/. Go there to experience bad writing and clueless game development.

My hope is to integrate into the game development community through some means, and joining this site seems to be a humble start. Based on previous experiences, however, this integration is going to get a little messy, so let us see...

My name is The Night Trover. I have no clue where that name came from, actually (trover means something to do with laws and property). It just sounds very deep.

I started gaming in around '00 (considering I was born in 97) on a cheap PC. I would wake up on Sunday mornings and watch my sister playing Treasure Mountain again and again and again. I didn't have good internet until probably 2004-2005, and played educational PC games and text-based adventures online. Then, once I got normal internet, this whole realm of free online games came into the picture, ranging from MMORPGs to flash games.

Only recently did I find out that flash game developers aren't all teenage boys (I played on some very juvenile websites), and looked more into indie games over the past couple of years. I liked the aspect of it more than mainstream games, mostly because I can experience a more mature and experimental community versus a stream of like-minded games that are only good for the market.

I'm no creative genius. I just like finding creative geniuses and thinking I'm an expert. Smiley

Hello!

I've been lurking on the forums for a little while now, and decided it's
about time I said Hi.

My name is Nathan, and i'm based in Scotland. As a product of the late
80's I've been playing games for a substantial fraction of my life, and have
thrown together a couple of small games here and there over the years.

I work in physics/HPC in the day job, so I can write a competent bit of code,
my art/writing skills leave a little to be desired however!
