Hey. I'm 20 and a programmer, my website is at http://my-toyz.com/blog/ ,but probably going to grab a new domain this summer. Undergraduate in CS at a large engineering school, graduating at the end of this year, then probably going to work at MS. My first job in high school was as a courier, an occupation seriously romanticized by stuff like Snow Crash and Infamous. I started programming when I was 11 or 12, then stopped once I tried to learn C++, then went back to it with http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Principles-Practice-Using-C/dp/0321543726 when I was 17. Good book for starting programmers who want to jump in the deep end. I grew up in the mid 90's, early 00's, so I was part of the PS, N64, PS2, Gamecube, XBOX era. However, I was first introduced to gaming by my grandfather who owned a Tempest cabinet and an NES with Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Galaga, along with some other games that I didn't like (fuck Centipede). I'm extremely fond of the PS era RPGs (FFIX, Legend of Dragoon), before they started getting really cutscene heavy, but pretty much fell in love with all genres. My best memories are from FFIX, Need for Speed : Hot Pursuit, Super Smash Bros, Crash Bandicoot, Klonoa, Einhander, Pokemon, Mario Party, Jak and Daxter series, Tomba, Tekken 2, SMB 1, 3, and Superstar Saga. My uncle recently gave me a copy of Bushido Blade to try out and I'm sad I didn't pick it up when I was a kid, great game. Nowadays I prefer independent titles for various reasons. My recent favorites have been The Binding of Isaac, Castle Crashers, Super Meat Boy, Spelunky (waiting for XBLA version though, don't like the feel of the PC version even with a gamepad), and Amnesia : The Dark Descent. I'm really looking forward to The Witness. At school I worked as a programmer at a bioinformatics lab (recently stopped since boss went on sabbatical), and have done/will do some internships at MS. I have a few games on my site, and tons of unfinished projects which I'm ashamed of, but I tell myself they were good learning experiences. I'm most experienced with C++, C, C#, and Perl, but have dabbled in or done small projects with most of the popular languages so I'm fairly language agnostic. I'd like to think that I'm decently well-versed in most topics in Computer Science, but have made a point to focus on systems and networking because I like it. I'm interested in making browser-based games so getting familiar with AS3 and Flash. I'm doing a re-make/update of an older game I wrote a couple years ago, Reflex (on my site). I'm mostly here to meet new people, whether you want to collab or just chat. Shoot me an e-mail or message me or something for whatever reason. You can find me on Skype at bogeymoon, I've been trying to interact with people more so I should be on, but I might forget.

My name is REDACTED. I'm currently a full-time student, studying at REDACTED high school. During my spare time I program games. I don't intend to work in the gaming industry, and think of programming as more of a hobby than a profession.
I programmed my first "program" when I was something like 7 (beat that!), and my language of choice is Java, of which I have a fairly extensive knowledge.

Hi,
the name's Pauli, but most people call me Dids.
Around a year ago I quit my day job to become a full-time software and game developer. Now, as I'm nearing the completion of my first game, I've joined the TIG community.
It's not easy being an indie, especially when it's full-time.

Obligatory Introduce Myself Post: My name's Chris; I usually go by CLD (Chris Langford Design) or hellocld when somebody beat me to the CLD username or domain name (hence hellocld.com and not cld.com). I work full time as a designer/videographer/marketing lackey for a tech company to pay the bills, but game dev is where it's really at for me. I've been playing around with trying to make games for quite a while off and on, and only got around to really doing it in the past year or so. I've got a nifty little platformer called BOTRUNNER and a really crappy two-hour game jam baby called Long Jump of DOOM. I also use my blog to ramble incessantly about whatever it is I may or may not be working on at the moment. I'm currently in the beginning stages of making a mediocre 2D platforming run and gun. I also like pizza and sugar. Not necessarily in combination.

Hi,
I'm Nemo, 21 years old and have been making games for real since 2-3 years ago. So far it hasn't gone very well, although I've learned tremendously from mistakes. Before doing games I had no idea what I was doing with my life, but I'm very glad I started doing this, wouldn't give it up for any other job in the world. Well, except for maybe tennis
I work together with a guy I met via the XNA forums. We clicked immediately and have been together since, he helps me create the visions I have and often comes up with great stuff himself! My forte is designing and some music but I've been trying hard to get back into GFX, and try to do pixel art whenever I can. I see some progress, but not as much as I would like. It's a real timewaster if you're seriously getting into it
Anyway, that's me in a nutshell, I guess so far I could give people mostly advice on what not to do, but I feel it counts for something! Hope to get more out of this game making thing in the future
Ciao

Yeah, the stupidity door trap couldn't hold me no longer XD Hello there, I'm RottenHedgehog, formerly known as Jana. I'm part of the RAT KING, that you might probably know through Indie Buskers, Me against the Mutants and Pitman. I'm an artist (3D modeling, texture art, learn pixelation power, too) and things influencing me most are: Comics (Mostly japanese, but also franko-belgian and underground stuff), Fantasy books, movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Princess Mononoke. Games that deeply changed me are all works of Tale of Tales, Jeff Vogel, Zelda, Mario 64, Gothic, Shadow of the Colossus. Today I play particularly minimalistic games. I'm very much into Against the Wall and Proteus at the moment. I'M happy to be part of this great forum now! Cheers!

Hi, I'm a film editor by profession but was inspired during some recent downtime to learn a bit about how to make games. I'm not sure what else to say here, but I'm about to post something to the Feedback sub-forum and saw that it might be considered rude not introduce myself here first. Hello!

Hey all! My name is Ray, I've been trying to make games for something like 5 years now. Started out making maps for Jedi Outcast and Q3Engine era games, went to college and learned some coding and refined my design skills a lot. Now a days I'm working at "real" game company in Montreal, but I spend my free time going to game jams and working on my own projects as much as possible. See you around.

Hi guys! My name is Franz or g0dspeed if you are from the interwebz, I'm 22 and even if I'm italian I live in London. On my early months of uni I was lucky enough to get a part time job as a intern in a digital agency and there is were my passion for web design started. I'm completely self tough since my university course was in games development, branch which I never followed professionally. However it did give me a good understanding of the structures of games. The main reason that I decided to join to forum is to keep a record of GAMERBREED, a project that I have been developing for the last few months with 2 other colleagues of mine. Mainly its a text-based mmo game creator. You will be able to download the project, install it in your website and create a game similar to ogame or mafia wars. People will be able to log into your game and level up, follow your story, or whatever you want to do with it. The project will be released in early July as alpha version If you fancy it, you could follow us on Twitter @cmsgamerbreed or drop by and say hello at www.gamerbreed.com.

Hello! Great to be here! I've been a gamer most of his life but it wasn’t until the SNES era that I realized the potential of video games as an artistic medium with games like Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, and Earthbound. I was a former writer, but now work full time at Experimental Gamer ( www.experimentalgamer.com) where I handleprogramming, art, design, and writing. When I'm not creating games I like surfing Wikipedia, reading film and game reviews, and playing Ultimate Werewolf. My superpower is an enhanced sense of timing. I'm currently working on Boot Hill Heroes ( www.experimentalgamer.com/boot-hill-heroes) - a spaghetti western style retro RPG.

First of all I have to say hey to DapperDave! (Hey Dave, Its me Matt Carter!) I think its pretty ironical that we both registered here on the same day. Its a small internet world ain't it! Now on to the introduction! Hey everyone, I'm excited to finally be able to join you here on the frontier! My name is Matt Carter I'm a long time (pro) game developer, I have been making games for around 12 years. Its been a long time coming but I finally quit my day job to follow my dream as an indie game dev. My background is in 3d character modeling but my passion is in anything creative and the world of big budget games just wasn't cuttin it in the creative department. So my buddy and I created our own company, Ragtag Studio at http://www.theragtagstudio.com/, and are getting ready to release our second small iOS game and start out on our third. Very exciting times. See you all on the boards! Cheers, Matt

Guess it's my turn to write an introduction.. My name is Anders Karlsson, even though many friends call me Pugo. That nick name was an accident many years ago. I live in Linköping, Sweden, about 200 kilometres south of Stockholm. Normally I work as developer for the web browser company Opera, but I also try to write games on my spare time. My most recent project is an Android puzzle dropper game called Zerofall. How did I get into games then? I am an old computer nerd and I saw my first computers around 1980. I am very glad that I got to learn computers back in that era, when every electronics shop had a couple different brands for sale and there was hundreds of small games companies. I am very happy to have played games such as WizBall, Paradroid, Head over Heals, Blue Max, etc, when they were new. All those fond memories have made me collect old computers and video games from that era. That's a wonderful hobby, even though it takes much too much space, at least according to my girl friend. In my spare time I run a small game development company, with me as only employee. I have developled a new kind of puzzle game for Android, all with falling numbers, nice animations and chip style music. I am currently struggling trying to get the word out about my game. The response this far has been very nice, but it's hard to be seen when your game is not named Tetris or is another tower defence game. I have also started to think about a completely different game from my puzzle game, a more social one, but that is still on sketch level. So, that's some about me. Glad to be here!
