(Be calm you fool!, get it straight! atleast talk straight before feeling embarassed!)
Hello!! The Name is Karam Byun. But I hope people call me [crzikrn]. I remember making that nickname for aim messenger lol. Wow that's like... super duper looong time ago.
I look asian (Korean), but I'm technically Panamanian(citizenship), but I feel much comfortable talking in English(I express better in English), hmmmmm:
I don't know if that worked. But yup that's me when I had long hair... a bit younger than now. And when the times were black and white, simple. [DOZES]
But I'm here to introduce you guys how I got into games.
Hmm... I remember playing the NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2
, and a few for the PC
I only played e-Rated games for most of the time. I played lots of Mario
, but I never had the chance to play the famous zelda, metroid, chrono trigger, final fantasy
on the NES and SNES consoles.
I think it was around the time of SNES, PS, and N64 that I got into games. It was through the "Nintendo Club Magazine
" in Chile. I was always super excited when I had the chance to get the magazine and read reviews or walkthroughs. The way they put screenshots and explained was always satisfying. Since it was a time when internet started, the only way for gettings gaming news were magazines. Good Ol' days.
I think because of the magazine I remember buying SUPER MARIO RPG
with my own money!!
And then asking Dad to buy pokemon red, blue
the first few weeks it came out! (And I still have the cartridges, and it works!! I completed the red one! changed battery for the blue]http://www.gamemories.com/finds/super-mario-rpg-map-art
link for a cool the mario rpg map
And then from there I played a lot RPGs really, a few moments of counterstrike
, and starcraft
, but mostly RPGs like you guessed it: FF7
and well FF8
During the playstation
time I played a lot of games, but the rich experiences I remember is FF7
is more because I had to play it. especially the first part over and over because I didn't have a memory card. lol.
Most other classics I played after it became a classic. I wasn't too fond of the Resident Evil
or even Doom
. I felt at ease when I saw someone else play it. I still do today. (I will probably never ever will be able to play Amnesia.)
I played Megaman X
through block buster lol. It was quite the challenge I remember enjoying it a lot.
Then there is the PC side where I enjoyed playing Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis
with my Dad.
Yea great memories I can keep on going about games really.
during college years I left the gaming for awhile, no good games, didn't buy any of the "newer" consoles after PS2, no money. Until I stumbled upon Cave Story
I remember finding it on a school computer in college. There was an area of computers where it was full of massive games. But this one was something I've never heard of. I played it through and well... here I am looking at other indie games and even thinking of making a game.
It was quite the eye-opener and later finding out it was made by ONE freaking person.
Then I stumbled on Spelunky
also a one man game, then saw a glimpse of the Underside
another one man thingy; then the list kept growing like Gemini Rue
and Binding of Isaac
etc.. and recently STASIS
!!!. It was more of a hunt for another Cave Story
game, but finding these people doing there own games in small teams or lonewolf style was much of a big inspiration. And I've gotten quite fond of the indie game developing community even though I don't participate much, but I like to watch!(.. wow that sounded really wrong.)
I do hope I can get along, a bit shy on the net, with everyone!.
Hope everybody make AWESOME GAMES!!
(Abrupt finish, but that well do... back to hiding)
