(...but I don't want to...)
[PUSHED]
[stumble, stumble, CRASH! onto the forum]

(Oh boy, oh boy, 15423 people are watching....)

Ha, Hi;;

d,d, the name Issss......... [PAUSE]
[TURNS AROUND]

(Be calm you fool!, get it straight! atleast talk straight before feeling embarassed!)

[TURNS BACK]

Hello!! The Name is Karam Byun. But I hope people call me [crzikrn]. I remember making that nickname for aim messenger lol. Wow that's like... super duper looong time ago.

I look asian (Korean), but I'm technically Panamanian(citizenship), but I feel much comfortable talking in English(I express better in English), hmmmmm:

I don't know if that worked. But yup that's me when I had long hair... a bit younger than now. And when the times were black and white, simple. [DOZES]

But I'm here to introduce you guys how I got into games.
Hmm... I remember playing the NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, and a few for the PC.

I only played e-Rated games for most of the time. I played lots of Mario, but I never had the chance to play the famous zelda, metroid, chrono trigger, final fantasy on the NES and SNES consoles.

I think it was around the time of SNES, PS, and N64 that I got into games. It was through the "Nintendo Club Magazine" in Chile. I was always super excited when I had the chance to get the magazine and read reviews or walkthroughs. The way they put screenshots and explained was always satisfying. Since it was a time when internet started, the only way for gettings gaming news were magazines. Good Ol' days.

I think because of the magazine I remember buying SUPER MARIO RPG with my own money!!
And then asking Dad to buy pokemon red, blue the first few weeks it came out! (And I still have the cartridges, and it works!! I completed the red one! changed battery for the blue]

http://www.gamemories.com/finds/super-mario-rpg-map-art link for a cool the mario rpg map

And then from there I played a lot RPGs really, a few moments of counterstrike, unreal, and starcraft, but mostly RPGs like you guessed it: FF7 and well FF8.

During the playstation time I played a lot of games, but the rich experiences I remember is FF7 and FF8. FF8 is more because I had to play it. especially the first part over and over because I didn't have a memory card. lol.

Most other classics I played after it became a classic. I wasn't too fond of the Resident Evil or even Doom. I felt at ease when I saw someone else play it. I still do today. (I will probably never ever will be able to play Amnesia.)

I played Megaman X through block buster lol. It was quite the challenge I remember enjoying it a lot.

Then there is the PC side where I enjoyed playing Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis with my Dad.

Yea great memories I can keep on going about games really.

Anyways,
during college years I left the gaming for awhile, no good games, didn't buy any of the "newer" consoles after PS2, no money. Until I stumbled upon Cave Story...

I remember finding it on a school computer in college. There was an area of computers where it was full of massive games. But this one was something I've never heard of. I played it through and well... here I am looking at other indie games and even thinking of making a game.

It was quite the eye-opener and later finding out it was made by ONE freaking person.
Then I stumbled on Spelunky also a one man game, then saw a glimpse of the Underside another one man thingy; then the list kept growing like Gemini Rue and Binding of Isaac etc.. and recently STASIS!!!. It was more of a hunt for another Cave Story game, but finding these people doing there own games in small teams or lonewolf style was much of a big inspiration. And I've gotten quite fond of the indie game developing community even though I don't participate much, but I like to watch!(.. wow that sounded really wrong.)

I do hope I can get along, a bit shy on the net, with everyone!.

Hope everybody make AWESOME GAMES!!

(Abrupt finish, but that well do... back to hiding)

Hi Guys, my name is Vincenzo Alagna, ( CrashTheuniversE ).

I'm a programmer and game designer. I do it for a living since a long time now.

I started my own company 7th Sense s.r.l. in Italy something like 13 years ago, and I created some technology for Game Boy Colour, that lead us to get a publishing deal.

The games were The Fish Files and The New Addams Family Series : )  ( Although released in 2001 was mentioned last year on Retro Gamer as one of the best adventure games of all times, check also a reference to this article http://www.racketboy.com/retro/gameboy-games-that-pushed-limits ).

Since then I worked on almost any Nintendo platform out there in the last 10 years, and more recently I was a programmer on home consoles (PS3 / 360), before I definitely jumped into Mobile and specifically iOS development.

I published about 12 titles in my career, and I spend most of my time enjoying life and working on my spare time on even more demos, concepts and studying programming.

Last year before I turned 30 I was mentioned in the Develop-online magazine in the list of the 30 under 30 raising star of the game industry.

I was lucky through the years to be able to experiment and study a lot of technologies, and I enjoy programming a lot.
I prefer these days C/C++/Objective-C at work, even if as a funny note, The Fish Files and Addams Family for GBC were programmed entirely in Assembly Z80 (30K+ lines of code!). I really like gameplay, AI, systems and 3D programming, although my main skills are in 3D and gameplay.

Right now I'm focusing on HTML5 for my personal experiments.
I'm really enjoying working on a browser based retro space shooter MMO right now.
If you're curious you can jump in and give some feedback, I'll post later on the right thread, but for the moment:

http://www.voiddust.com

I think that's all, and I really look forward to meet more and more guys from this great community!

P.S. if you want to chat on twitter as well: @Crash_Universe

Hi everyone!

I'm Alex and only knew this site existed a few weeks ago. I am a composer but my biggest passion has always been gaming and that will never change. It has always been my dream to one day make or be involved with a really inspiring and captivating video game which has almost come true.

One of my favourite games is Chrono Trigger. As my love for writing music grew I became part of team making a fangame sequel called Chrono Crisis http://chrono.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Chrono_Crisis which sadly never managed to follow through and the game was cancelled. Some of that team and myself however still wanted the dream to stay alive and in our little spare time for a while have been working on a different fangame sequel to Chrono Trigger called Chrono Ark and whilst a lot of story, music and sprites have already been created it's too early in development to reveal it properly. I'm a sucker for anything time travel!

I've been playing games since I was like 3 years old, playing on my brother's NES all the time and also had a BBC and played the likes of Defender and Mr Do. My brother and I were always playing something, some of my fondest memories were of times like getting up at around 4am way before school and playing something with my brother like Ecco the Dolphin or Sonic the Hedgehog. It come to a point where he was Sega and I was Nintendo and we usually liked different kinds of games so we got to play a lot of genres between us. Fighting, racing, platforming, RPG, sports, puzzle, shooting...just so many good games, it was our life. If we didn't agree on our taste of games we would always agree that some of the music in games kicked major ass. When I was small I knew I wanted to make games and find a way to do that.

So I grew up wanting to be a programmer. I used to design things all the time, loved to draw, made adventure board games...even made an entire town out of paper. I was in a store once and saw something called The Games Factory and was so excited I thought this would be the way to start. I spent a lot of time with that and made lots of little fun games to play and got my brother and some friends to play them. They weren't great just little platformers or top down shooter/rpg types but it was a great learning experience. My first programming experience was with HTML and found it enjoyable, which made me want to program more. In college I studied a computing course and did a part time course in Visual Basic 6, I then went on to do a C++ course but I never finished it as I started to lose interest in programming and was lured into the world of music. As a teenager music really became my life and it enthralled me. Most recently I went to university to study music technology where I learned quite a bit of Java but honestly I put my hands up, programming is to much for me.

I love video game music I find it to be some of the most emotional art I've ever experienced. I've been writing for about 8 years but haven't really gotten the opportunity to get myself into the spotlight. I've written a few albums most recently which has been inspired by video game music http://alexroe.bandcamp.com/ and have a little website that I need to update and redesign http://www.alexroe.co.uk/ and now I really need to put a portfolio together, especially here Smiley .

That's quite a bit of info but yeah thought I may as well introduce myself. I'd love to list the games I love and inspire me but it would take days. However if I had infinite money and resources I would make the ultimate FPS game with nods to Goldeneye, MGS, FEAR...I have so many ideas for that. I even came up with a co-op DS/Wii idea where someone plays the game on Wii and someone else drops in or out on DS to be an intel/hacker backup kinda guy...which Ubisoft is now doing for some Wii U game, gutted!

Anyway peace guys I hope to post more around here.

Hola,

I'm Max, a hobbyist developer interested in making 3D games with a retro or abstract look.  My work can be considered truly hobbyist since my real job does not include any skills related to game development.  I just made one level of a game in Unity.

Hello I'm byrono.

I started programming in as3 about 2 years ago, but yet to have something 'big'. I am still a student in highschool but I still have enough spare time to program.

And that's me.

Hi, I'm sean/seagaia! I've been doing game dev for a little bit now (somewhere in the range of a few months to a year, not really sure...) and I'm really enjoying it. There's more info on me at my website, hoping to share my games here and discuss others as well! I'm a Flixel guy for the most part, I draw stuff in GIMP and I do most audio work in REAPER.

I find games to be an awesome medium of expression (like I suppose most of us do!) and it's an exciting time to be a part of it!

I most recently made this platformer, Inspiration Dave, and I'll probably post it on this board in a few days.

Nice to meet yall!

modified 7/1/12

thought I should add a little more on myself.

i never did much real game dev, though i do remember occasionally as a kid i would make fake games or levels with my sister, etc., but nothing much. i made some levels in cave story editors before high school, that's probably the most "technical" (and even then not really) thing i had done up to that point.  but i took some classes on programming in high school (visual basic after freshman year, java during senior year), so i had some sense of programming, but it wasn't until halfway through first year of college that i really got into it. and then i decided to suck it up and try to use flixel in august, a few god-awful prototype and a jam entry later and i started working on a first full game (inspiration dave).

and it's gone pretty well since.

i do music-y stuff too, i took piano lessons for a year when i was 8, never really got around to taking more but I really liked it so i practiced on my own. it helped with arranging sheet music from games which is this occasionally side hobby of mine. i started violin soon after and played that throughout high school, and near the end also started learning guitar, and made attempts at drums as well.

We're a team of 3 first-time game developers.  We have been developing a new puzzle game called Spinpossible for mobile (iOS and Android) and web (www.spinpossible.com - will post more info soon).

Our background is that we all met in college and we share a common interest in games, math, puzzles and programming.

In terms of influences, we've been playing video games our whole lives - some of our favorites: Bonk's Adventure, Braid, Day of the Tentacle, Dr. Brain, Grim Fandango, Myst, Nethack, PaRappa the Rapper, Portal, River City Ransom, Shadow of the Colossus, Solomon's Key, Starcraft, Toejam & Earl...

Hi! My name is Scott and I work on microbiological analysis software by day, and video gamey stuff by night! Wink

I enjoy programming and designing software (mostly because it is one of the only things I found myself to be good at), but I really stink as a graphic artist. I really hope to team up with an artist or two one day and make something fun and pretty.

Due to a lack of options in this area when I began some time ago, I have spent the last very many months on a 2d game animation tool which I plan to release for free soon. The only thing comparable to it really right now are in-house tools of a similar vein, or Spriter which looks to be pretty cool as well.

I have been wanting to keep a devlog and thought this would be a great place - hopefully it is alright even though it isn't directly a game? Either way we shall see.

Finally, since living a very crazy life and recently believing in Jesus, one side effect has been relearning how to interact with people (ie to stop being a really obnoxious, very arrogant, self-centered conniving jerk). I just don't want to be that way any more, and for once, I actually care.

This has resulted in a pretty heavy case of social anxiety even when it comes to forums and stuff like this to a certain extent. That also means when I finally get to talking, I talk a lot. Another reason to start a devlog here  Smiley

And here is a dev shot of the animation tool. Please disregard horrible textures and icons made by me!

Hello all, it seems I am finally getting around to making an account here!

My name is Mike "Weem" and I am the creator/designer/artist for a game called Epic Inventor (link in sig).

EI is the first game myself and 2 others (both programmers) have ever created, starting the process not quite a year ago (June 2011). The three of us have been in web development (I am the Creative Director at the company I work for) for many years now and in fact two of us have worked (web dev) together for 8-9 years now.

If I'm not developing web sites, or working on Epic Inventor, I'm likely spending my free time making videos for my YouTube channel (youtube.com/weemcast) - something I find very fun and relaxing (which is the goal).

Anyway, I suppose that's about it for now. I love chatting people up on Twitter, so feel free to do that if you would like (@theweem), otherwise... here is a fork and knife (because my eyes keep going to them above this textarea)...

Hullo, one and all!

I'm Eero "GuitarMonkey" Turkia, a game development student from Finland. I've been making games (with varying results) since I was a wee lad, but it isn't until now that I'll be able to potentially start making a living out of it.

I'm mostly focusing on the Unity Game Engine, since that's what we're being taught right now.

You can find my stuff at

http://gamedevstudent.tumblr.com/
and
http://www.epileptictrees.com/pls/

My most recent project is called Qbeh, which is a puzzle game involving cubes. Think Portal meets Minecraft.

Also have a couple of shots from my other projects:

Looking forward to countless years in this community.

Hi,

I'm haedri, a 27 years old french indie game developer.
I'm currently working on a game called Snorms, an isometric third person shooter (http://www.snorms.com), and I think I will soon make a little presentation of it.

I love indie games (vvvvvv, minecraft, steel storm are my favorite, but I liked almost all other games I tried) and old school games (Doom I/II/TNT/Plutonia/..., Zelda 3, Settlers II, Dungeon Keeper, Diablo,... there are so many of them).
