I just finished The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. I can't really recommend it. The protagonist was a little new to Western standards (a precocious eleven-year-old girl with an aptitude for chemistry), but a lot of the narrative was cliche. And the resolution was a little more "genius with an ego getting her due respect" than it was "mystery novel".

Finished "I, Robot" in a few hours yesterday (love that book), working through The Last Dragonslayer before returning to Mistborn series.

Just finished Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman. Was ok but was expecting it to be better.
"The novel’s focal point centres around the fatal stabbing of a young boy outside a fried chicken restaurant, a shocking crime even in a place as used to brutality as the Dell Farm Estate. With the police getting nowhere fast, Harri and his best friend, Dean, decide to investigate."
Harri and his best friend are 11.

Always seem to have a few books going at the same time and about 70% through John dies at the end. Enjoying it so far and want to finish it before catching the movie. |

Hyperion: good. Fall of Hyperion: eh. I have started Perdido Street Station and it is wonderful.
Oh, it gets better. And crazier. It's impossible to describe. That's my favourite book. The (semi)sequels aren't so hot. |

Yeah, I didn't bother buying any of the sequels. However, I think my favorite of Mieville's is Kraken, which is just fantastic.

I just finished Neuromancer. I really loved it. It's cool to see how it would have influenced some of the sci-fi and cyberpunk works we have today and where a lot of cool cyberpunk phrases come from.

I finished The Final Kingdom. Great book, love the world/fight scenes.
I want to get my hands on a copy of The Fault in our Stars, but I can't find one in any of these bookstores. Not sure what to read to tide me over until I can get it.
