Mor[T]ality is a 2D platformer which consists of interesting gameplay and compelling story,
that tries to get to the bottom of protagonist’s psyche and find out if there’s a moral line he can’t cross.
THE STORY:The story revolves around a psychopath and a serial killer -
Jack the Ripper, but it's not the usual Jack the Ripper story.
He was given an artifact from some mysterious man that accosted him on the street. The artifact
stopped Jack's
aging process, but made him forget who he was before. If he gets rid of it, he will die immediately.
Throughout the game he struggles with his urge to
kill living creatures.
On one hand, he enjoys making others suffer and killing them. On the other hand, forgetting what he's done before triggered in him some kind of
moral response.
Hence the title.
GAMEPLAY:Play as Jack the Ripper, kill with
randomly generated firearm and melee weapons that can additionally contain poisonous, incendiary, shocking or explosive effects. Collect weapons in your inventory (bought, found or taken from dead enemy), gather materials and ingredients for crafting. Crafting is used for upgrading weapons or creating ammunition for them.
Persuade depressed NPC
to suicide and gain its soul, called “torment”. If you fire a weapon with a torment, the enemy that has been hit with it will fight for you for a short period of time and then he will die.
If the enemy didn’t see you, you can use a special kill on him.
When you die, you lose everything you’ve had and get half the value of these items. And every time you die, you get two new random skills, such as super jump, poison resistance etc.
ABOUT ME:My name is
Daniel Gomółka and I’m the founder of
psyCODE Interactive. For now, there’s only me in the team that’s consistently developing Mor[T]ality, but I’m using the help of two 2D artists, so it’s all going well. It’s my first big project; I’ve done a couple of smaller ones, but I’m making games in my free time, so I really wasn’t able to work on something bigger. But I finally got to it and I’m pretty excited
