I normally fly in Sunday and fly out Friday evening. Am I missing a lot of good stuff by not padding that out by a few days on each end?

Sat-Sat.

@ThemsAllTook: Not sure but I decided to do the extra day thing this year to make sure I had some time beforehand to do non-conferencey things like buying groceries for the week so I don't have to blow a bunch of money on takeout food.

Also if you happen to know any non-gamedevs in SF it's probably best to meet up with them before the conference.

Don't you need an airplane for that? Maybe that's why it's so cheap- it's not a very far drop. Also, "cheap as it gets" doesn't sound like the way I'd like to jump out of an airplane. Sounds like they grabbed some thread and stitched together some old parachutes they found in a dumpster behind the parachute factory. I don't mind paying a bit extra for an item that allows me to land on the ground in my regular, human form and not in a pile of blood and guts and bones. Also, I'm afraid of sky diving.

Is it this place? Near SF, tandem jumps for $100: http://www.skydivehollister.com/

If so, it looks safe enough at a glance. They're a USPA group member, so their equipment, training, and safety procedures should be up to snuff. Looks like the $100 jumps are from 8000 feet, so you'll only get a little bit of freefall. I jumped from 13000 feet last year and it was pretty amazing, though a few hundred dollars more expensive than this one.

One thing I'd have to say is to be prepared to cancel in case of any kind of poor weather. My jump had to be canceled twice before the skies were clear enough to finally go.

Noisebridge teetotaler's hackathon/hangathon sounds like a good time.  I'm (probably) in if it happens.

Same. Noisebridge is within walking distance from my place, and I'd really like to spend a bit of time this week jamming. If it happens, definitely mention it in here.
