Hi folks,

Currently looking for inspiration to help me complete work on a miniatures-like PC game (turn-based tactical).
This isn't a 4X game, it's more a skirmish game similar to how some would play Star-Wars: X-Wing Miniatures (but as a PC game).

Was wondering if there was any old dusty title I could look into (possibly grid-based, whether HEX or SQUARE tiles)?

I really like the games of the Advance Wars series. I feel like they struck the right balance between simplifying and still having units that feel very distinct, leaving a lot of room for interesting decisions.

IT is a great series, but as much as I am aware, it basically depicts ground combat, not space warfare correct?
I'm specifically in space combat because I'd like to see how other developers have envisioned the concept of movement (direction facing, speed and inertia management).
Unfortunately, I'm not sure this series will help in that regard.

The little flash game "Steambirds" could be worth looking into. It's one of few tactical games that lets air-planes  behave like air-planes. They move fast, but are hard to turn and can only fire forward.

Actually fell on this randomly and it was a blast, totally in-line with what I was after!
