TigSource Musical Challenge XXXVIII - Respite

Imagine...

...that you’re in a dangerous setting. You feel tense and perhaps are finding yourself near the end of your rope. Suddenly, by some good fortune, you stumble upon a safe, peaceful, and beautiful setting where you can let your guard down for a minute. You feel great relief as you sit down and take a minute to rest and restore your energy.  You look around and see an overwhelming quiet beauty. This change of setting is so dramatic, the relief you feel is so great, this spot appears to you as nothing short of heavenly or magical. The fact that you know you must carry on soon and leave this spot only intensifies how sweet this moment is.

The Challenge

Create music that might be played in an unexpected, much-needed safe zone. Focus more on relief and comfort rather than happiness or joy.

Rules

  • The piece must be at least two minutes in length
  • Must be original – no recycling old pieces
  • Which instruments you use are up to you
  • Must be submitted before the deadline
  • I will select 3-5 pieces to be voted on, depending on how many entries there are
  • Winner will host the next challenge

Judging Criteria

The factors that will play into which entries I select for voting are as follows, in order of importance:

1. Rules are followed
2. How well it describes a safe zone and/or relief
3. How sonically pleasing it is. Harmonies, instrumentation, timbre, etc
4. How much I like it  Wink

Deadline

Submit entries by the end of Friday, February 27th

I look forward to listening to your entries! Get to it!  Coffee

Alright, here goes :

https://soundcloud.com/asavary/departing-tigsource-musical-challenge-xxxviii

It ended up being more noisy and experimental that I planned, with a crescendo that doesn't really fit the theme, but this is one of those cases where the track decided for itself what it wanted to be. Shrug
I hope you guys like it anyway.
