Please no horror/gross out games. We can make exceptions for games with a creepy vibe like gone home, but I really don't think it would be fun to have everyone play something that's genuinely unsettling.

there's a fun thing involving forums and CK2 where players pass on a save file to another player after playing through a monarch. could be fun to have multiple circles going, but might require more organization than possible.
you mean a succession game yeah we can do that, but maybe outside of the game club? idk if theres enough interest tho

In that case, I think Earthbound would be a blast to play/talk about.

Ooh I didn't think about that, another vote for earthbound. I started playing it on a snes emulator on my psp, but I never finished it.

they are loosely connected. you dont need to play mother to truly enjoy mother 2 or 3

Good to see this thing happening again, it used to be fun. You're all voting for Metroid II, but I'm going to suggest Metroid Fusion instead over Metroid II.

I've seen people do this, but with games like Minecraft, Terraria, and even a GameMaker file. dwarf fortress was the game that put succession games on the map iirc (google "boatmurdered") so anyway, is anyone interested in a ck2 succession game as a separate thing? i could set it up and take over the "management" part of it. im starting to really like this idea haha

I dunno. Earthbound + Metroid-of-your-choice + Crusader Kings II seems a fair arrangement; there's enough variety to accomodate taste, and there's enough consistency to remain connected.
There's usually a freeware option though, IIRC. That's the other ingredient we're missing here. Something anyone can pick up and play, but is worth picking up and playing. For a month, kind of regularly.

Why don't we set up a poll and vote for it?

I'm gonna toss out Iji as a suggestion for the freeware option. Having played it since 2011, and I've really been meaning to.

We should set up a poll, but I believe there should be a few guidelines in place for the games we play. Here's what I suggest: - Games must be at least 5 years old - If purchasable, must be below $10 USD - If free, must be easily available online to download and play (no fiddling with mod packs, cracks, DOSbox or anything. Emulators are fine). - Should have relatively low system requirements, so that those with lower-end PCs can still participate - The game hasn't been played before for game-club (we can dig up the old threads, this is just to avoid redundant discussion).
What does everyone think of these guidelines?
