I agree with Dragonmaw's earlier suggestion about sharing the same start but playing separate games, and I'd extend this to any other game where playing with a fixed seed is a possibility. So if we ever decide to play Brogue for example, we should decide on a seed number in advance and then see how far everyone can get with it.
I think games with some randomization and/or non-linearity are the best choices for "social" gaming in this format. If we play something like Chrono Trigger then it might get boring because people already know how it ends and there's not much to discuss (aside from various "interpretations" of the story).

^ We could have a Daily Dungeons subthread for stuff like TBoI or Spelunky Daily Challenges.

- If free, must be easily available online to download and play (no fiddling with mod packs, cracks, DOSbox or anything. Emulators are fine).
I agree with everything but this. I feel some mods/romhacks could be worth playing. A certain degree of notoriety should be required tho. If we want to recommend more obscure games, we shpuld post at least screenshots and premises to get the appeal in a vote.

I kinda disagree with the five-years one; but it's pretty legit.

I wanna play! (I vote for Metroid II because I'm a spineless slug and I follow the leader like a minion)

Okay, you guys are pretty vague when voting in comments, so anytime someone mentioned a game and said they wouldn't mind playing it, I count as a vote. Someone else could count and see if they get a different outcome. VOTES: Metroid -------------------- 5 Metroid 2 ------------------ 5 crusader kings 2 ----------- 4 super monkey ball 2 -------- 4 Super Metroid -------------- 4 Earthbound ----------------- 3 Legend of Zelda ------------ 2 Legend of Zelda II --------- 2 Mega Man ------------------- 1 Pulseman ------------------- 1 Go!Go! Beckham! ------------ 1 Oracle of Seasons ---------- 1 Oracle of Ages ------------- 1 Penumbra ------------------- 1 Metroid Fusion ------------- 1 Glum Buster ---------------- 1 Chrono Trigger ------------- 1 Iji ------------------------ 1

maybe we should just make a dedicated voting thread where everyone simply states what they want to play and then we tally the votes?

you should probably try to vote for games you want to discuss, not games you just want other people to play

Quick question, do we have to wait until the end of the month to discuss the game we play?
