I've found that Avatar "motifs" work well. Annabelle always has those awesome pixel portraits. I try to keep dolphins or other nautical life-forms in my avatars. It's easier to identify as a whole.

YES! If you're going to change, motifs are sweet. Maybe I'll get around to modding my Rupicola one day.

I usually have something tophat related in my avatars. I swear that has nothing to do with the whole tophat and monocle meme thing, though. I've been identified with Tophats way before I found this community and learned about it.

It's a one-off for me, and I'm keeping it so . I don't like it when people change both their avatar and their nick and don't leave a note to say who they were (moi, imp, looking at you guys). And the fake real names are annoying. Again, a mod has my real name as their username.(The same situation is true of my brother) EDIT And boom, there it is, the exact same initials as Bill Nye.

Just out of curiosity, can two forumers have the same nick at the same time?

No. But there are.... other ways around that limitation.

Nicknames for nicknames. Sounds like a book about spies.

Yeah, I'm actually keeping my real name.
I know it hurts at first, but you'll like it in a minute.
I like cake, but I like Chris Whitman too.

I've started to somehow hate this whole nick, but yeah, changing is bad. BAAAD. I could make a new avatar though. Hmm.

As long as people keep their avatars, I can handle. But they shouldn't change their nicks anyway I already have my name with just a different letter as nick since always so...

I think it's fine as long as you don't change your avatars and write your nicknames somewhere in your sig or personal text for good measure.

You guys are booooooooooored.
Seriously, fuck memes and be your own man. True indies don't do trends.

'True indies don't do trends.' << this is false.
independence isn't uniqueness or novelty, it's freedom. I mean, you shouldn't do things just because everybody else is doing them - but you should do them if you want to.
'be your own man' doesn't mean 'do everything different from everybody else'. Sometimes everybody does the same thing because it's a good idea.

Yes, let's turn this into another pseudo-philosophical "what is indie" thread.

Yeah, I should probably change my user name to my real name, too.
I might also change my avatar... but I'm going to keep the same motif.

But... what is Renton?
A character from Irvine Welsh's book Trainspotting. Also a city in Washington which houses the gravesite of Jimi Hendrix. Also the king of derailment.
