So, I'm working a 2D game where the character has a gun that will release poisonous gas cloud/aerosol spray thing.  Imagine a cone with the point coming from the gun.  My question is what is the best way to do this?  Should I create a couple of frames, with the cloud growing in each frame?  Or is this something where I just have one frame with the full cone and just move the asset within the programming?

imo: make several frames of a small cloud growing and dispersing, then just use those sprites for a spread of particles when the character fires the weapon.
