New Yorker article explaining Konami shift
http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/why-did-hideo-kojima-leave-konami
also this:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-05-11-konami-full-year-profits-soar-thanks-to-growth-in-social-games

Although they continue to be konami:
http://kotaku.com/konami-denies-hideo-kojima-has-left-says-hes-on-vacat-1737501388

From that stanpoint its understandable why they fired Kojima. Lords of Shadow could exist without Patrick Stewart.

I'm a bit surprised at how significant the company shift is, but share-holders have spoken and probably know something I don't. Obviously everyone wants a piece of the lucrative mobile market, but the entry cost is low for everyone, and so the market is quite saturated and includes plenty of free or near-free alternatives to known brands.

They must be banking on the f2p model being prevalent and taken to the next level. That can only happen if they force it down our throats. Still, I think of it as a failure right out of the gate.
