The game has been renamed and has completely changed (see the end of the thread for more info).




Steam Tactics is an RPG/Strategy game about steampunk airships with tactical turn-based Fire Emblem-esque combat. Take on a role of a captain of a squad of airship pilots, acquire and upgrade new ships and weapons, level up your crew.

The game has quite a long story. It was initially called Steamfarer and had very different gameplay (and, well, everything else). You can see it throughout the thread.

Steam Tactics is now available on Steam

graphics are great and you have a unique setup. I loved the boss with the multiple stages. what happens when you run out of turrets, can you escape? I can imagine a project like this will require vast amounts of ships/graphics and story. how much more is there already?

Yes, you can just leave a battle and try again. Also, there will probably be repairing turrets and some usable items like repair bots or something. I'm still iterating on gameplay so many aspects are still a subject for change.
There is not much content yet, mostly due to that I'm still working on gameplay.

Well, there is already one track, it can probably be a menu music, though I'm not sure yet if it actually will be in the game Smiley

Awesome! Do you usually make sketches of the steam powered flying submarines before model them or do you model them straight from your imagination? If the first one, can you show us the sketches? I would love to see them:)

Actually, I don't make any kind of detailed sketches, just extremely rough pencil silhouette sketches (only a few lines and shapes) just to figure out basic shape, and then I just start working in 3d. As for scenery, I don't sketch anything at all, just start in 3d right away.

I've been doing gamedev-related stuff since school. Professionaly, I've worked for a couple of years for game companies as an artist, and now i've been a freelance artist for about a year and a half.
