Just felt like going off on the space battle mechanics we've been whipping up for the game.
Moar gifs and screens here.Offense: There are command lists for maneuvers, shooting, and boarding. The options under each like come about, or fire volley all have different cool down rates. We're still fleshing out the systems to have more control over different battle mechanics. I'd say boarding an enemy ship is probably my favorite thing so far, well, maybe second to the circling attack drones. There's something satisfying in physically taking over another ship with astronauts after a lengthy laser torpedo fight. As we beef up squad commands and add things like explosive charges these boarded ship encounters should get more and more awesome.
Defense: So far we have shields (which reduce the velocity of incoming physical ammo) thermal flares, automated machingun and laser anti projectile turrets and dust veils. The thermal flares send torpedoes off track while dust veils deflect laser fire. The turrets send out slews of bullets and photos to damage incoming artillery. When its all put together it looks pretty awesome.
