Years ago, I was walking through the woods, high on acid, and as I stopped to look at a calm lake, a trickling stream next to me danced over rocks, the trees pulsed with life, and the wind rustled the leaves with a song of soft velvet, and I thought to myself, holy shit it's all connected!

The rest of the day kinda sucked, as we drove around downtown Baltimore, and I tried not to get freaked out by all the people.

But that one moment was super eye-opening, and I wanted to make a game that captured this experience.

This is why indie games are a thing.

Nice visuals too.

really cool! The art is hypnotising.
What king of gameplay will it be ? exploration based ?
or just an experience to live ?

That whale.

THAT WHALE.

The humpback design is one of the most beautiful in the animal kingdom and you nailed it.

I'll ask what has already been asked but not yet answered: what will you do besides walking around, if anything? Will there be some mechanical focus on this "connection"?

Gotta agree with everyone, the whale and the breathing forest are amazing. Also hugely interested as a psychonaut.

Your character drops to drop down the rabbit hole.

Thanks everyone!

The gameplay will be exploration-based.  As you can kinda tell from the screenshots, the forest comes to life as you walk through it, with trees lighting up and rocks thumping as you get near. It will also be heavily musical, with everything responding harmonically to kind of tie it all together. I'm playing with the audio at this point, seeing whether an ambient soundtrack or a rhythmic soundtrack would work best.

The entire experience should be fairly short, but it will be highlighted by a series of surreal 'moments' - one of which is this whale - that you can discover as you walk through the forest.

I've done a bit of concept work to flesh out some of these ideas - feel free to check out my website for more work kendobi.com. Thanks!

This looks like a real chill time! I like where this is coming from and having had similar experiences (born in Baltimore to boot) I'd be interested in seeing a subsequent "freaked-out-in-the-city" chapter as well :p Good work!

Good God. Everything you make is excellence. The whale. THE WHALE.

Good lord that whale dragon is simply stunning!!!

It reminds me of the second animated movie of Fantasia 2000 with the flying humpback whales actually. Ever seen?

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the support.

@ephoete - I haven't seen Fantasia in a long time, that's a great suggestion though, gonna have to re watch it!

@slarti88 - haha, no I didn't see the whale dragon that same night, but I did see it in a dream I had awhile ago. In the dream, I was lost in the woods and I came across a stream. I saw a whale eye looking back at me in the water and as it turned around, it had the body of a fish. It swam away and I followed it, finding my way out the woods. It was really crazy. I woke up super inspired!

Thanks again guys, gonna have an update soon!

I refer to Fantasia 2000, not the original one. Smiley
