Pls, the important thing is you got another project in your portfolio, a bit more experience and a new concept tried out! Hand Thumbs Up Right

My game this time was not much, but it did end up as #12 for mood, which was really the most important aspect of it, as the rest wasn't really much of a game, and it was very short. Really surprised to see a position as high as #66 for audio, tho, since that's my weakest skill. I'm in no way a musician. But I guess it did go along pretty well with the mood. So I'm happy. Well, besides the statistics I dug up. That's not happy. Let us all hope for change.

August next.

Got my results for this Ludum Dare. Happy with humour but had been hoping to crack top 100 with some other stuff but I always seem to go well in one area while the others suffer. Next time I might try and actually target the fun aspect more. Have learnt not to read too much into the scores though and as Prinsessa says, use it more as being forced to create a project for the portfolio.

Congratulations everyone though.

I would rather that it shows that the overall level of LD is rising quite fast, so the results (and especially ranks) are not a real judgement of your game, it's the comments and the exposure that matters the most (after having created a game, that goes without saying Smiley).

By-the-way, thanks a lot for your in-depth comment about my game, it was really helpful to me to read such a very sharp analysis of the GD issues in my entry.

Most of my reviews were one or two liners about how my game was hard, fun, ugly and didn't support keyboard.

Also I got a pretty average score, which is encouraging for my first LD ever!

That's my big project right now. All you can do with mouse is move around (and it's broken ATM because I've been doing changes to the input system after implementing that). I got myself two gamepads that I can connect to my computer before I started implementing more mechanics and ATM gamepad is the only way to control anything. I'll fix mouse and keyboard support later, tho. c;

Weird you didn't fix both for a little jam game tho. I wouldn't expect most people to have, or at least be bothered to connect, computer gamepads just to play a little jam game.

Fjuffy actually managed to swirl /h(er|is)/ way into the innovation top 100 of the compo entries. This is a lot better than I could hope for on a first Jam.

   Coolness   58%
#76   Innovation   3.94
#103   Theme   3.97
#305   Mood   3.24
#466   Humor   2.85
#477   Overall   3.25
#488   Fun   3.13
#503   Graphics   3.13

Also – if have not already done so – please keep postintng your games in this thread. The rating season may be over, but I'm still playing stuff.   Hand Joystick Well, hello there! Hand Any Key

I'm a little disappointed with my score but it was my first LD so shouldn't be too hard on myself I suppose.

Pooper the Pig!

#191   Humor       3.46
#305   Theme       3.65
#498   Fun       3.12
#506   Audio       2.78
#558   Graphics    3.04
#670   Innovation  2.92
#739   Overall     2.96
#746   Mood        2.70
#1497   Coolness    45%

LD was was fun and has really helped to motivate myself, so that is a plus.

That's not a bad average considering there were almost 3000 games.

That's better than the coolness I got. Wink

I always feel like I'll have plenty of time but then suddenly the voting period is over. ,_,

Exactly what determines the coolnes anyway? It increases with rating games, but is it 58% of? Pie?

I think it's a percentage of the maximum ammount of games that count towards getting more reviews.

That's not a bad average considering there were almost 3000 games.

...of which only 1353 were in the compo (that's the amount it's compared to), and 694 entries in jam and compo combined did not get enough votes to get a score. Guessing half of those were compo, that means the score is compared to 1005 other entries.

So yes, it is a bad score. Though I wasn't a fan of Pooper the Pig, I do feel it deserved a higher score, particularly in Fun. Meanwhile, it got freaking #191 in Humor while the only humor in the game is that it's about poop.

Sometimes I just don't get LD voters.

Sometimes I just don't get LD voters.

It's just that there aren't enough of them to provide a proper normal curve.

Gee, I should've remembered that jam and compo are rated separately. Wasn't aware of the fact that some games weren't even counted tho.

Although I can understand your disappointment with your score, you should think about the people who didn't event got the 20 votes required to be ranked - I've tried to rate some of these games following "please save these games" posts on the last voting day, and some of them were actually quite good or interesting.

I don't know how games end in this state (I guess it's due to low coolness), but to me the most sad outcome for a game is no one playing it, isn't it?

I don't think the scores really matter. When you browse the high scoring games a lot of them aren't any better than some of the low scoring games. I think when voting people rate genres/graphics style/devs they like higher than those they don't. Metrodvanias, for example, always seem to rate highly.

Anyway here's my scores
