I didn't expect them to completely go back on it, but with the extreme amount of outcry I guess it's not too surprising. I don't know that anything but a full reversal would have stopped the momentum of everything.

http://steamed.kotaku.com/some-people-are-pissed-that-skyrims-paid-mods-are-gone-1700837400/+nathangraysoncomments Since Morrowind, in the Jurassic period, People have been modding for fun or to add things they themselves wanted in the game. Even I did it for Oblivion, Just.For.Fun.
Now, since three days ago, modders are these exploited slaves who work for free, bleeding and crying, in behalf of a mass of entitled monsters.
This is ridiculous.

Well starcraft 2 and valve did it right, there was no existing community when they implemented paid community content, the skyrim one is a disruption of an established culture, that's the problem
starcraftv 2 doesnt have paid community contnet. it was an idea from blizz that never flourished. im still a modder and proud of it. i wouldnt mind donations and shit, but i would feel horrible for soelling products of love

You'll be assured to find 90% shit for anything that's out there, it just makes the 10% stand out so much more.

I'm actually pretty surprised by Valve, generally general outcry doesn't seem to affect their decisions this much.
