Created a pretty large new tutorial series covering creating 2D games using Unreal Engine 4.


The tutorial series is both in video and text form ( for videos, scroll down ) and currently covers topics like:
  • Using Unreal Engine 4/ A Tour of tools available
  • Creating a new project
  • Blueprint creation
  • Loading and using sprites
  • Sprite animation using flipbooks
  • Creating pawns/actors/characters and handling input
  • 2D Map creation w/collision using 2D tile maps


I intend to cover all the topics you need to create a 2D game ( playing sound/ ai still to be covered ), then recap with creating a complete game.  I will also probably do a follow up post on using C++ instead of blueprints.  It is my intention then to do the exact same thing using Unity 5, so the workflow between the two engines can be directly compared.
