I've been playing the single player (don't want to be a shitty team mate by just jumping into online).  I'm having a bit of hard time getting used to the aiming.  It just doesn't feel quite right.  That being said, the painting mechanics and all of the mobility stuff in it is great.  It feels like there's a lot of depth to it and I'm just scratching the surface.

Make sure to change your controls and disable motion aiming!

Yeah you can change gyroscope aiming to off if you want, or change the aiming sensitivity! The aim cursor will also change graphic if you can hit something so that's something to keep in mind.

Also the final boss in Story Mode is FANTASTIC I'd recommend doing single player just for that.

There is never going to be a situation that makes motion aiming better than traditional.

Wiimote pointing is better though

there is never a situation where a joystick could be considered precise. teh motion controls are great. i have seen people on twitter saying that the motion controls clicked for them after realizing that you only really need to use the gyro for small movements

I consistently preform online without motion aiming. I just don't see how you guys consider it better.
To each there own though, I guess any method practice long enough will preform well.

This game is phenomenal. Easily the best game I have played in a long time.

- No communication at all is wonderful. While I wish it was possible to say a couple of platitudes (eg "Defense", "Let's go on the offensive",  etc.) I will gladly take no chat over a 14 year old yelling racist epithets at me.

- The paint vs offense dichotomy is great.

- The large array of preset builds is also great.  Instead of being able to choose the best set of gear, you have to make legitimate sacrifices. Do you want a specific grenade? Well your special might suck.  Really want Inkstrikes? Well you might have to take a subpar weapon.

- Movement in the game is a joy.  Shooting, zipping around as a squid, shooting, zipping as a squid is a great rhythm and you can get anywhere you want on the battlefield quickly.

- Everyone can be as stealthy as they want. (corollary: by covering your tracks you know if someone is sneaking up on you).  You can swim, stealthily in the ink.  You can lurk in the ink waiting for the kill. Or you can go in guns blazing.  Or if you have a nice snipers nest you can cover your tracks so that anyone trying to sneak up on you will have to paint (and you can see it on the map).  The game rewards keen situational awareness.

- Matches are like popcorn.  They can be done in under two minutes and take at most 3.  You can get 5-10 matches in a short period of time and it is wonderful.

It's just such a good game.

huh? i never said the game didnt involve killing. i even argued against a person who brought it up as a "nonviolent" game in another thread.

fwiw the game (afaik, i can't play it) doesnt call it killing and this is probably as nonviolent as a competitive shooter is going to get.
