Can anyone recommend me any Android distribution? So far I've used some crap cellphone provider OS with lots of apps forced on me, but the phone warranty is ending so I want to install something more friendly.

I have no idea what kind of ROMs are out there but I'd like something:
-open source
-customisable
-doesn't require me to log in to my Google suite
-maybe with access to some community-driven app repository?

EDIT: I have an LG L7 II P710

Here's a big list of custom ROM projects: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_custom_Android_firmwares

You'll have to find if they're compatible with your phone though.

As for customization, I highly recommend one that supports the Xposed Framework, which lets you customize parts of the OS which would have previously been impossible without modifying the source code and rebuilding it.

No custom ROM out there comes pre-installed with Google Play services because of legal reasons. If you want them, you can install them separately, but they aren't totally necessary.

And with that...well, you'll have to look around. You don't need a custom ROM to use a "community-driven app respository". Android isn't a walled garden like iOS, you can just install a separate app store like a regular application without rooting or modifying the OS. There are a lot of alternatives to Google Play out there, so you'll just need to find the one(s) you like most.

Here's a nice list I found: http://joyofandroid.com/android-app-store-alternatives/

There are many Android ROMs that you can find on the internet. As Alex mention, you can get a lot of data about them from Wikipedia and other websites that you want to check.
One of the good places that I found was checking at www.androidrooting.org

You can also find some ROMs on my own website here, where I have shared many ROMS.
The link is http://www.androidsroot.com
Thanks!

I'm using experimental builds of Cyanogenmod 12.1 - its Android 5.1.1.
But there are stable versions as well. I think it's closest to vanilla android rom.
