I make a game with GameMakerStudio (http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=25456.0). It runs at 60 FPS. I want to capture some GIFs, but I couldn't yet find good solution for doing it.
I've tried Camtasia and FRAPS. Camtasia can't capture fast enough (I use 33.3(3) or 40 FPS to make GIF's delay 3 or 4, for browsers to show them correctly), FRAPS generates very large files. Both tools need much work to edit result with GIF-editing tools.
What do you use?

I always use licecap and upload to gfycat.
On licecap you can choose what FPS you want it to record at, obviously the more frames the bigger the file will get. I think gfycat does a good job compressing it, and you can choose to use the GIF or another file extension for websites that support it.

There might be better ways so take this with a grain of salt. :p You also have more control over the final outcome if you edit it yourself.

Thanks, Chris!
licecap is really very good. It has just enough controls. My speed drop from 60FPS to 50 when I tried to record (both in most complicated level and almost empty one) — I should do something about it. It even optimises file almost fine.
You said your GIFs are choppy, but they seem quite fast (and beautiful).

If you halve your game speed and your recording fps you should be able to speed up the resulting video to produce 60 fps gameplay footage, right?

I use GifCam generally. Pretty lightweight and efficient.

ProgramGamer, now, when you wrote it, I can't even explain why I couldn't make this up myself WTF
Huge thanks. This will fix FPS drop while recording.

Yep, GifCam, thanks, Bonesy. I even found it already downloaded. Will give it a try.
