Hey there guys. Do any of you have any idea on how I would apply a cloth effect to the robe parts of this mesh (The darkest blue pieces)? I've been searching all day and nobody seems to know what to do, at least in Unity 5. I could always cave and use shroud studio, but I don't really feel like dishing out any dosh.  Huh?

Ok, I know I'm posting only a couple of hours after I asked this question, but in my digging I found some pretty interesting articles that others may like. I don't know if any of this has answered my question, but I think it's helping me get close.

It's a shame that this stuff is buried deep in the internets. I hope this unveiling helps someone else.

You could try separating the cloth parts of the character and parenting them to the main model. Then you'd apply the cloth modifier and skinned mesh renderer, assuming you can get the colliders right (you have to set up capsule and sphere colliders that determine where the cloth is allowed to go).

I can't guarantee this approach will work, but that's how I (clumsily) set up the scarf on my character. Hopefully this helps.

Lots of ways to do it:
- skinned mesh, animate two or three chain bones
- morph targets
- do a sim in whatever 3d package you are using and bake it
- cloth sim in unity
