unfortunately no where near that ambitious... yet.

If the initial phase (implementing combat/HUD) goes well I'll think about adding some more content. The problem is there's no way I can do FP pseudo 3d with out bumping the resolution up massively. At the current 12x40 there's no room for any sort of scaling, and I feel it's unrogueish to go any higher than 25x80 which still isn't enough. Maybe Myst-like static screen/slide show FP to wander around the level until you find a mech to engage in combat... hmm... damn now you've got me all thinking.

Though now that you say it GearHead 1/2 feel very unfocused to me so there's definitely plenty of room for a pure mech based roguelike.

A building is visible to the upper left, four screens away, a mountain is visible in the upper right.
You will encounter a Missle Boat mech (first screen), in three steps forward, he is visible on the radar, ~30 degrees to your left is a mission objective

um, that's just a mock up, now that I have the idea I'll try an implement it but right now all I have is a HUD that responds to my commands so don't get hopeful. Terrain will come much later, if only because I'll need to make maps and a lot of different views or things.

In the sense that I'm aware of their existence yes, beyond that no.
TextWarrior 3050 is really more just a tentative name anyway, I don't expect it to end up terribly Battletech-y, and while I'm a big fan of the MechWarrior VG series I've never played the tabletop or read any of the books so this isn't going to be a roguelike fan-fiction or anything I don't know the inner sphere from the clan.
IF and it's a big if I can get first person maps working and a little customization between levels I'm going to call it good.

Oh, no, I just meant for technical inspiration.

For some reason I thought they did it first-person, but I dug up screenshots and it was actually an overhead thing. Your mech damage display is similar, which made me think of it, is all. =)
