ORIGINAL PITCHIt is The Future Or Whatever, and the major sport across the land is C.O.C.K. Fighting, which features men in huge chicken mechs, or Combatant Operated Chicken Kostumes.
The sport is essentially a joust, with the player setting his options in the C.O.C.K.P.I.T. (Combatant Operated Chicken Kostume Parameter Input Terminal). The opponent does same, and based on the parameters input and the whims of fate, the joust plays out.
Graphics will be very Atari-NES, low-fi but obviously modern. I'm mainly useful for the mockup/design, sound and code side of this. I'm planning on using
Love2D, which is Lua-based. Looking for anyone interested in helping with gfx, sound, or code. The more the merrier on this project. Most important to me right now is someone who can make some good 8-bit artwork.
SLIGHTLY MORE UP-TO-DATE PITCHGraphical style is now going to be like the art in the teaser poster. Essentially I'm using photos from Flickr users that are Creative Commons BY licensed, punching out the art I want, and then applying a couple of photoshop filters to them. They will be all be credited in the final game, or whatever prototypes are released. COCK ATTACK's source code (that I have written, anyway) is itself CC-BY licensed.
OFF-THE-SHELF PARTSCOCK ATTACK is written using the
Love2d game prototyping and creation framework. It uses the
LUBE networking library, and zeddy's awesome
Console library.
GRAB THE SOURCE CODE http://github.com/philnelson/cock-attack/tree/masterDEV HISTORY2/25/09Working to try and get LUBE working correctly between a client and a server. That's about it.
Update: It totally works now. Awesome.
2/26/09Mocking up screens.
2/28/09Trying to create a function to generate buttons with callbacks to render the various screens/scenes.

Here's a hi-res version of the above, suitable for framing, or making your desktop picture.
