Hello,

I'm a designer and programmer, and on my current game I've been also trying to wear the hat of an art director. More because I don't have someone else to wear it than anything else.
I believe the result is not bad, but I think that having someone or a studio responsible for it would be a better idea. So I'm considering to search for a game studio that could mainly focus on the visual facet of the game, and hopefully really make it more special. I don't know how it would work so I'm here to ask:

Is there anyone here that made a partnership like this and could advice regarding the business and operational side of it?

You may be over-thinking this a bit. It doesnt sound like you need to enter a business partnership with another studio. Just sounds like you need to find an artist or two who are interested in working with you on the game. I think you will find searching for an artist to work with will be a lot easier than attempting to find an established studio willing to let their artists focus on your game vs. whatever they're already developing...

When my team started working on my game, we were in the same boat, and we did what oldblood suggested: We simply sought out an artist to join our team. In fact, later on, sort of realizing the scope of artwork we need, we also found a second. Literally partnering with a team might not be the ideal scenario for you.

We had simply Googled for web sites to try to find forums and listing sites where game artists congregated, put up some "classified" style ads here and there and started to go through portfolios and resumes. It took a little time to find the right people, but I would said that tactic has paid off, as were able to put together a team relatively dedicated to our project and who we could count on.

I get what you mean. And I agree.
I didn't seem to have express me so well though.
When I mentioned finding another studio. I mentioned that I think I need "someone" or a studio.
I could not hire an employee for financial reasons. What I need is to create a partnership in enteprenur mode. Like the joining of two entepreneruships.
And therefore I wanted to know if there are some people that had a similar experience and that could care to advice on it.
If the other part is a person or a group of people, it doesn't matter much, as soon as the role of art direction is trusted.
But you are right. I guess that the suggested strategy to look for artists on forums and so is a good a idea.

I see what you're saying. Actually that's also exactly what we did. We have no budget...we are just some guys who want to make game. So we found some artists we could make an arrangement with that made sense to all of us. You may want to think a bit about what such an arrangement might be before you reach out. But yeah, forums FTW.
