I mean, I'm not going to spoil anything, but I am actually working on a small secret project using entirely 3d rendered sprites that I colored in post.
(dont tell anyone, it's a secret.)

I loved Kirby Super Star's prerendered backgrounds and environments and Mischief Makers' pre-rendered everything, so I figured why not do the same, I have the programs that let me do so.

Dang, that does look really authentic. I think the specularity's a bit high on the models; it makes their eyes hard to see to me, but that's just a matter of taste and opinion. Nice work!

earlier today I modeled this character I doodled at work the other day.
Something you'd see in the official art of a PS1 rpg maybe

Rakugaki, that pre-rendered stuff there is beautiful! I'm glad other people enjoy it too. I remember awhile ago I was reading a thread here were a bunch of people were ganging up on pre-rendered 3d and saying it looked terrible, but I've always loved the look of it.

One suggestion, to make it look even more authentic, is reduce the colors on the characters.

That cactus(?) character looks like a long-lost player character in Saga Frontier! XD very nice.

I've been modeling a lot of bottles lately! Here's a "taste" if you will...

Chocolate syrup!

Good job on that syrup

Chocolate syrup!

the way these shots are sequenced and the old man looking at me on the label make it look like the syrup is slowly emerging from the shadows and walking towards me and honestly i appreciate that

(also the model is nice)

I think pre rendered gets a bad reputation, mainly because people think that since real-time 3d graphics are so good, there's no point in doing pre-rendered 3d. Which is true, but there's a big nostalgia factor, when the graphics look older like ray tracing demos, or like Super Mario Rpg, or Final Fantasy 8...

Old, pre rendered 3d has a special place in my heart as well. And, I'm glad to see someone else making pre-renderey graphics. Smiley

Thank you Bobert. It's actually a portrait of Marco Polo who apparently brought ice cream over from the East, or something... So they say.

Icarox, that looks great! Beautiful colors, especially that purple-to-yellow on those curtains. I love all the details too, the books, the lamps, the plant, the tapestry, the globe, the cat(?) statue(keeping looking back at it and there's something new to notice :D), I don't know why I didn't comment on your environment earlier. My apologies!

Here's a melon rack:

And the almost done fork lift that lifts melons(tires still need textures):

Exporting from 3DsMax to Unity I'm getting some messed up stuff.

I have two models, tree trunk, and leaves. They share the same 0,0,0 in 3DsMax. When I export though only my leaves get messed up, it gets offset and stretched as you can see. I've collapsed all my models and I've reset the transform and scale multiple times. I added the box at the base to demonstrate better.

Anyone else get this before?

EDIT: So I reset the xform thing and got this.

I have no idea how to fix it though. Can't find anything with Google about how to fix xforms.

That's odd. What format are you exporting? take a look at the export dialog for any fields that might be causing that.

It's .fbx. Nothing in the export dialogue.

I used fbx before and had no problems. It looks like the model is rotated slightly, scaled and rotated back, that would recreate the skew effect you have there. Try using other file format. Sorry, I can't be of much help :/

Thanks anyways, I fixed it. Had to attach it to a clean/new object and then delete the object and move the transform back to it's proper location and then reset xforms. Pretty strange.

Starting to like this look I am getting using vector art to create textures.  Please disregard the fact that these are just some random blocks...  I'll post some more shots with an actual level some time.

Got tired of pushing pixels and decided to do a quick sculpt. I'm pretty rusty though, this doesn't look particularly good

I would love to use that in a game. Keep it up!
