Learning Blender. This is my first model. Trying some things out before my advent game jam thing comes up I ... need to learn more.

@jotapeh - It's pretty nice, actually. I'm still learning quite a bit about 3D modeling, even after years of using Blender! Here's a planet that I made and that's running at 60 FPS in the BGE. Here's a video of the engine running.

Hybrid 3D / pixel art experiment What am I looking at here? It's visually engaging...looks like a mountain, with a corrie ?

Yeah, it's sort of a rocky valley with a little pool at the bottom, with some kind of plant life growing out of it.

Blender is cool Here's my first (finished) base model. Nothing special, took way too long, but I learned a buttload. Now to learn rigging and texturing with it!

Very nice work. He looks fairly low-poly as well. I think his thighs are too thin, though (they are too wide apart).

Geez that looks nice, Hawt Koffee.
@threesided: super impressive for your first. I'm hacking away at Blender still, haven't come close to that yet!

@McMutton Dang, that bad Unity toon-lighting is hiding the sweetness of your model I love the previous model you posted, too. Awesome work in one day @jotapeh That's pretty good for starting out. It looks like you did some extruding His legs could use some more definition around the knee area. Also, you could simplify things by making his hands and feet small. Something like this: http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-draw-anime-chibi-santa-claus-268093/ His belly should have more vertices so that the sharp point can be smoothed out. I'm not sure how to do that in Blender, but in Maya I would use the split polygon tool.

Thanks Ted! I took another stab at it and posted it over in the Workshop if you feel like doling out any more (much appreciated) pointers. I didn't want to muck up this thread until I'm a little better.

I love that so much Hawt Koffee. But his deltoids bother me. Your model's stick out a bit too far. It's odd because they look much better in the previous image.
