Well I hope I can deliver, I'm still trying to figure out how to go about doing this whole thing.
Last one I swear.

My laptop motherboard broke AGAIN (thanks a lot, Dell repair service), but right before that, I had just finished re-doing a lot of my main character's animations.

And as a bonus, here's a tank. (Not to scale with the previous image)

Blender, as usual.

Feels a bit weightless at the moment. Whenever the foot makes contact with the ground, her torso should be moving down, and then back up again, as shown here:

That'll give it some impact.

It does that a little bit, but I might rework it. It has some weight in-game due to a few other things like dust particles, sound effects, and skidding to a stop when you release the button, plus she's not meant to be too heavy anyway (you don't spend too much time running in a straight line, it's a high-energy shooter game). But I admit I didn't spend too much time on the details of the animation, since I was using someone else's computer because mine had the motherboard issues.

Your model looks cool, much more detailed than mine. Reminds me of an RPG hero, or a magical girl. Maybe both?

Neat, but I see some wonk going on with the shadows on the legs. (Though I guess it might not be the final render)

@McMutton:
Really good realisiaton of your picture from the 2d-art thread! Now I'm curious about the final result. :D

modelling is still somewhat a mystery for me. But it should be sufficient for my purpose.

Check out blendercookie.org , they have some of the best and most useful tutorials I have found on how to use Blender. They're long and in-depth, and take no shortcuts. You can really learn a lot about the program there.

For anyone that doesn't check out my devlog (which is probably most people), here's a video of the environments in my game. Built in 3d and rendered to a cylinder to get the slightly curved effect: http://youtu.be/l9fQktRnXt4

@Chris Pavia - Cool environments! They really look interesting.
@csg - Wow, that's some really solid modeling and shader / texture work.

Chris Pavla: both the environments and the music is beautiful Wink, though when looking at the gameplay video, it looks kinda boring...

Well, there are always going to be people who find match-3 style games boring, that just goes with the territory. I don't like most of them myself. Luckily no one who has played it has mentioned that as part of their feedback, and I have people that I go to specifically for their honesty.

I'm not inferring that your comment is invalid, but saying it looks boring is pretty useless to me. What specifically makes it look boring to you? Keep in mind that what I showed in the video is only the basic gameplay. As the player gets further into the game new objects are added that change up how the player must navigate the board. And the special abilities add an additional layer of complexity, although they weren't mentioned in the video because they weren't implemented at the time.

Feel free to post in my devlog if you have further comments on the gameplay, so as not to clutter up this thread.

It seems to me a bit as a waste of art. And the gameplay also seemed a bit confusing. Something like rhythm gameplay would IMO be much better. Or just some "normal" action gameplay.
