Why's it get extra awesome points for looking like another game? Wouldn't it deserve them more if it didn't look like any game before, and did a new thing?

WF's ship design system and general loadout ideas are great, and to see them used elsewhere is nice, for me, especially in a totally different type of game.
This may be one of the hardest RTS games I've ever played... edit: not that hard maybe

OK, played through the campaign as far as it goes. I found it pretty great actually. Worth a frontpage post, but I'm not sure whether it's better to wait, as the game's still in development (campaign only has 4 or 5 levels).

This is clearly an awesome game, but it's hard as nails, man. Also the Warning Forever inspiration is clear (and marked in the readme), so it gets extra awesome points for that too. Presentation seems great, and it seems to be a game maker game so chalk up another victory for clan Overmars. I'm very impressed by this. Yeah, the developer Sean Chan has actually made a few changes to the game recently (I had some issues lol) and the game plays better than ever. He consistently comes out with a new build and the finished product can't be far around the corner. I can't wait to see the end result!

That was a fairly neat little game. I can understand the idea behind it, although it just doesn't seem like that much of a -fun- way to travel. GISH worked really well because it was so simple to control, when faced with a large obstacle it was easy enough just to sticky yourself and crawl over it. Here... it requires a combination of 6 different keys in order to traverse that one area of the 2nd level. It's doable, and it's an interesting challenge (And to be honest, I do think games are a little too simple these days. Like with Steel Batallion, there's something to gain from the feeling that you are in fact controlling something that requires knowledge and skill to pilot), it's just that as a casual game and a platformer more than anything else, it's a little uneccesary, and the control of the polygon feels far less intuitive and more counter-productive towards your goal.
If interesting control schemes are to be added, my philosophy is that it should achieve something that wasn't achieveable before, or simply something that is far more impressive. If all it does is increase the neccessary input to get what is essentially the same output as before than something has gone slightly wrong.

I think Happy Cyclops Land deserves a mention. It's mindless, sure, but oddly cute. RedHero is pretty cool even though it's still a bit rough around the edges. Gene Pool is all around interesting.

On one of your articles I found a link to "Everyday Shooter", which I'd never seen before. It reminded me of two games I played when first using Linux, Lacewing and its successor Overgod, by Linley Hensel. Everything on every level is randomized: Number/style of enemies, which level the bosses appear on (Overgod only), even the music is randomized from sets of sounds. Therefore the game can be even more difficult than usual, depending on your "luck". LacewingOvergodI've tried both of the Windows XP ports, and they don't run quite as smoothly as the Linux versions. However, I believe that they're really unique games with great graphical and sound concepts. Might be cool to add to your Linux games collection.

Adanaxis from Mushware is one of those first-person zero-gee interstellar space shoot 'em games. You know, blow up the other fleet, protect the convoy, etc, etc. The physics aren't real flight physics: you go as long as you hold the button down, you stop when you let it up, there's no acceleration or momentum. There is, however, flight through four spatial dimensions. My attempts to explain aren't working very well at the moment, so I suggest you just go download the demo. (Or watch a gameplay movie.) Found on http://happypenguin.org. available for WinXP, OS X, and Linux. Shareware.

You featured Boss Arena a few weeks ago, but it's now been finished and renamed to Banana Nababa. You can get it here. I've recorded videos of every level and captured a few screenshots, so feel free to use them

I gave it a try, because I liked Knytt quite a bit, but I put it down eventually, because I didn't really know what was going on.
