Don't Crawl is a multiplayer NES'ish platformer.

One player controls the hero and tries to beat one of the many hardcore levels inspired by retro classics. The others take control of the monsters in attempts to kill the hero and take their place.

The game features online and local (split-screen) multiplayer. It also comes with a built-in level editor.

This was a VERY neat one to play with.  Sadly I had no one to do it against in multiplayer, but I did have fun with the practice mode.  Here are some thoughts that I had while playing this:

* Nice graphical style, does a great job of looking like an old NES game and sticking with the look throughout.
* Tried jumping on a slime.
  - It popped!  The ground around him is stickier now, nice.
* Having trouble jumping up the first jump.
  - Took a while to figure out you can jump on trees.  Try to make this more obvious, it looks like it's a background object.
  - Maybe make it a different shade of green compared to the bush nearby?
  - What if you did dark lines over all background objects like you do with the crates up ahead?
* Wonder if I can jump on a minotaur...
  - Hmm, didn't seem to work, maybe if I try again...
  - Nope, definitely nope.
  - I'm just gonna avoid this guy...
  - Is there any counterplay to him?  Any ways to open up a vulnerability?
o What about those bird eggs?  What if one landed on him?
  - Looks like this is who the player usually controls, awesome.
* Looks like I can take the top part and avoid him.
  - Is that the best strategy?
* Love the look of the lasers!
* What's that "respawn" sound....
  - It sounds super familiar... this is going to bug me.
  - It's a chargeup sound of some sort, I know that.
  - TERRARIA!  Mana charge sound.
* Love the death animations/particles, looks relaly natural and fluid.
* Also love that all gibs and blood stays put between deaths.
* Respawn bubble is "ok", but it could feel jucier.
  - I kinda want it to pop when you respawn.
* Died alot, but beat the practice.
  - Feels good bro.

Would love to see this game expanded, maybe even with a local splitscreen mode!  If you can get 4 controllers to work with this game, this'd make for a great couch party game.  With some more complex levels in there with some more trap options (and maybe a level editor?) I'd be totally sold!  Good luck if you decide to keep going with this!

Thanks for the feedback, Highsight!

That's why there's no way to reach the second ledge without using the tree. I tried to make it obvious level-design-wise.

Actually, yes, it will die from lasers.

TERRARIA! Mana charge sound.

Thanks for mentioning, it was a temporary sound. Changed it now.

local splitscreen mode

That's probably not going to be as fun as multiplayer since you'll be able to see other players' decisions.

Hello, everyone!

We are very very sorry for necroposting and, especially, for not providing any playable demo, but we just appeared on Steam Greenlight, after 0,5 years of development!

You can even a have a look at our Greenlight Trailer:
