I tried writing an essay about why Avengers 1 does the whole pacing thing better and why that was more important than the characters and stuff, but I don't feel like arguing any more about this on a MGSV thread.

Basically: I personally preferred Avengers 1 over 2 because of my personal preferences in terms of movie tastes and don't feel like pushing my point further. It's not even the first time we talk about this either, I remember bringing this up a couple months ago too.

Man, I really need to play Boktai again.

boktai is pretty good. the solar power gimmick doesnt really work that well, but unfortunately thats all ppl talk about with these games when theyre actually decent in their own right.

Ooh, get you and your post count.

EDIT: I beat mission 11 using a combination of supply drops, CQC and sniping and I feel pretty good about that. I should probably do that more, dropping shit on people's heads is endlessly amusing.

Oh god, I was really not prepared for the [Subsistence] mission.  Like, it really highlighted how much I rely on reflex mode/my array of toys.  (which, in turn, also highlights how different MGSV is from most stealth games, where I usually barely ever use items).

What, you never tried it? Next thing you'll be telling me is you never tried getting close enough to dive into her. Supply drops eat half her stamina bar when they hit so it's clearly the best tactic.

u know i thought code talker was kind of a lame racial stereotype at first. but after learning about his backstory and motivations through the tapes, i like him a lot more. what other game with a similar theme would feature the uranium mining in the navajo nation as a backstory point?

i coudln't find a lot on what actual native americans think about this tho, the only thing i got was this which talks about trailers and quotes a facebook comment lol: http://art-eater.com/2015/06/words-that-kill-metal-gear-and-the-genocide-of-native-americans/

If there's one thing that this game does right it's dogs that knife suckas.

EDIT: Oh and stealth robots with twin shootas.

EDIT#2: Oh the simple joys of using the FB MR as a sniping weapon to level checkpoints. Sure, I wouldn't use it on missions where I need a more precise weapon than a precision missile strike but it fits my needs for getting rid of any annoyances so I can sweep the area for sweet, sweet materials.

also if you have any interest in the story at all, i strongly recommend listening to all the tapes. also after some thorough listening i have come to the conclusion that code talker is definitely the best character.

btw i actually don't mind this new style of storytelling in mgs. they basically just moved what would have been codec conversations to this new "audiolog" format so you can listen to them at any time. the problem is tho that if you neglect to listen to new tapes you'll sometimes have no idea what is going on in the cutscenes. that could have been handled way better.

The Hamburgers of Kazuhira Millar is the true plot of MGSV.

In mgs doing nothing has consequences, wasting bullet has consequences, EVERYTHING has consequences

otoh a lot those "consequences" are pretty irrelevant seeing as GMP stops mattering very quickly unless you try to literally develop every weapon as it becomes available.

Yeah, I actually kind of wish GMP was more scarce.  It would have been a nice dynamic to have to to side-ops to raise the funds to bring a certain loadout on a mission, or feel the need to play a mission Subsistance style to avoid a high deployment cost.

there were a few points in the game where i had to do this, but it was mostly early on.

oh also i don't hate chapter 2 as much as everyone else seems to. probably because i took a break between finishing chapter 1 and starting chapter 2. i can see how it would be annoying if you're trying to finish the game in a week. it really is a LONG game.
