The forums come across as having a pretty terrible userbase ftfy the community is basically half trolls/"angry gamers"/idiots and half people that get drowned out by the toxic people. it's like that for almost every single game too, the only exceptions are obscure cult games from what i've seen. The forums come across as having a young userbase, but the website in general has very broad appeal on account of being the single best source of game walkthroughs and cheats on the internet. more or less obsoleted by youtube tbh The fact that it has a dedicated forum for every game that exists (often from the moment it is announced) makes it a really useful place to learn anything about a particular game. more or less obsoleted by reddit tbh (only thing reddit is useful for)

Well youtube don't have parsable txt file so it is not in my future oh i forgot to mention wikis ofc. those are probably an even better gamefaqs replacement than youtube depending on your needs of course, due to gamefaqs age, it's the only place to get guides for some older obscure games but welp

tbh these days when im looking for a walkthrough i just google "part x in game y walkthrough" and click the first or second result which is either a youtube vid or a wiki dwarf fortress has a great wiki and so does (did?) demon's souls. example of the *amazing* gamefaqs community: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/164592-fallout-4/72801106

what if fallout 4 let you do a true pacifist run and instead of being about a harsh and gritty wasteland it was about bringing the world back from the brink of ruin by teaching it pure and unending bliss

it's kinda about that already lol. fallout has always been more about societies rebuilding & the power struggles involved than the gritty grimdork future.

You're probably joking, but I actually feel like Fallout is really frustrating me that none of the political groups have any notions for a better future, they are all bent on overcoming each other and striving alone but unlike Fallout 3 or Skyrim, there doesn't seem to be a happy ending in sight where an outcome is reached that enriches the lives of everyone on the map I get that they are probably trying to be modern and gritty or watever, but when I paid 60 bucks for a bethesda game I was mostly just hoping for a classic hero's journey RPG where it's possible to get by without inadvertantly burning bridges and creating hundreds of mortal enemies
