Been playing this for a very long time, you might try Rohan, I mean this might too old since twas released last 2008 but then, this still kick some ess. With regards on the crafting, still its your choice but there are still other ways to make it through out your items such as weapons and armors.

next question: will i like the talos principle. im not a huge fan of puzzle games and would mainly play it for the story (i love "progressive" scifi).

Have you played any of Jonas Kyratzes' games? http://www.jonas-kyratzes.net/games/ If you like that writing you might like Talos. Also, it's SUPER PUZZLY. so if you really don't like puzzle games idk if this is the best one to play, even if just for the story. That said, it's a really good puzzle game.

i only played some old game of his ages ago. don't even remember the title. i had no idea he worked on the talos principle tho. i guess that might explain why the serious sam devs are making games about philosophy all of a sudden lol.
but yea doesn't sound like my kind of thing. can still watch a youtube playthrough if im interested in the story i guess.

is there a puzzle platformer besides thomas was alone/Talos Principle/Trine that has voice actors?
Not sure if Gravity Ghost counts (it's not really a platformer in the sidescrolling sense, but it's a puzzle game that involves jumping into planetary orbits), but it might be your kind of thing.

Looking for pure action games (i.e. no Dark Savior or Dragon Quarter) where progression is tied to a strict time limit like Septentrion, Sanvein or Dead Rising. Else, non-shmup games that reward skill in a single playthrough with additional levels like Super Monkey Ball.

so will i like the witcher 3 if i was bored with the 2nd one to the point where i gave it multiple chances over multiple years and never managed to really get into it?
my main problems were linearity, combat mechanics and characters i couldn't manage to care about.

I like Grandia 1 a lot more. Grandia 2's like... extremely easy. Like G1 was easy because you could exploit the battle mechanics and never taken damage, but that was fun because you had to actively... play it right. G2's just easy no matter what you do. And G2 is also really heavy on the bits where you're stuck in one town talking to people, from what I played. G1 kind of did that too but G1's dungeons were way better so it balanced out. The new PC version adds a harder mode. IDK how much it helps, though.
