This genre definitely isn't missing from the gaming industry right now. Especially with games like GRAV and Rust. The game does look pretty good though, and I like the idea of cities and guilds. This also looks better than anything I could do, but really, the idea isn't new.
Hello there JuiceBox,
yes we realize we are not inventing the wheels in term of game design in an absolute definition
Though what is reaaally missing out there for us, as players are few things:
- Even if genres exist separately, in different games, having a Survival RPG that evolves into a Social pvp/coop game and with a strategy game endgame, these 3 combined together is actually new.
Games like Grav, Rust, Day z, ...or Minecraft etc just dont have the meat to guide the player experience to a whole new level of gameplay beyond the rough sandbox experience, exactly because they are designed only as sandbox. That, on our experience, as gamers, is at least very frustrating because the core loops of survival are there.. but even on the RPG side, those games arent very deep when it comes to have you feel that you are actually growing a more and more attaching character, with unique skills, equipment, kickass weaps, etc...
- We are currently aiming to have the game out on Mobile Platform. and this is another big novalty on that platform at least. So frustrating to play either super casual games or super hardcore Strategy games with like NO rpg component or feeling, and the only good RPG out there are either Card games... or Single player games (whether it's a story driven or a dungeon crawler game either from new creation or from a PC/Console port).
- Ultimately, the concept of MMORPG (whether it's real time or async) isnt new but I feel very very poorly explored nowadays, especially on mobile.. The more new games there are and... the more similarities I feel between each game.. and we are sick of it.
Very seriously, our approach in doing this game is NOT "what other copy of mmorpg can i make to make some more money?", but really as gamers, our thinking always has been "we LOVE to play mmorpg, but what things do we wanna see in an mmorpg, to add or improve in our game so that the game experience is just totally new, fresh and get what all players really want"
WOW
Eden is a prefect title for this game, beautiful gardens indeedy!! You have me interested, can't wait to hear/learn more!
Thanks MereMonkey for your interest, when our website will be ready, we are counting on you to visit us!
Reminds me of the game Oceanhorn for ios.
Oceanhorn was a great singleplayer game. loved the experience i had on it.
While we will be also in a mature cartoony style, we are aiming to go for more mystical environments and atmosphere.
This looks fantastic! Those screenshots are wonderful, and I love the elements of choice that the player has. Choose to be nice or take advantage, etc.
I'm interested in hearing more about the narrative. Will there be a central story to follow? And how will that play into the choices that you can make, given that the player has the power to choose to help or hurt other survivors throughout the game?
I'm really loving the idea though, and I'm excited to see more!
Thank you Spencer!
We will definitely have a central narrative piece.
This is actually a great comment, because most of MMORPG nowadays forget about the story telling part... or rather, they transcript it in a very boring way: simple dialog boxes that players usually just click/tap to quickly confirm the quest reception.
We would like to explore more meaningful ways to tell our story.
Stay tuned with us because the narrative part will be a whole topic we will share and discuss with our community later on
Lots of ideas and we will need each one of you to help us make the right decision
