John, you and I should team up to make one. I'd totally be up for that.
You can do the waifish teenage character arts and I can write stories where everyone dies
And I guess maybe code

Anyway, the reason why is RPGs + Indies =

PANPOMMA Ltd TM Pro Game Pitch 2012 : 00001

Team Dungeon

A first person rogue-like dungeon crawl game.

Two teams of four face off in something akin to "capture the flag", but with a treasure chest. Unlike other arena shooters, the dungeon would be littered with smaller treasures which can be taken by anyone to increase their personal score and various enemies would be wandering the passageways looking for a fight.

CLASSES:
Knight       + Heavy, slow, well armoured. Wields a big sword and has holy magic, such as "heal", "banish undead".
Scoundrel  + Quick, agile and averagely armoured. Wields the backstab dagger, a crossbow and shadowy magic.
Mage         + Not all that fast and quite fragile. Wields all sorts of spells, from fire balls to summon imp!
Elf             + Quick, archery based and magical, having a vanishing bent to it.
Dwarf        + Like a knight, but with mechanical powers, maybe even something to do with digging through weak walls.

Just imagine it's balanced and makes sense.

Now heres the real hook of the game. The dungeons would be small and I think, I think, you could have a new one generate every time you play, as long as the parameters were refined enough to make it balanced for both sides. I'm thinking map themes might include: Dank Cave, Volcano, Ice Cave, Evil Temple/Tomb and Enclosed Forest (trees being the walls).

Oh I'm not making this by the way. Smiley

a remake of pocky and rocky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKdYY6dwXhw) with randomly generated levels and random boss encounters.
has cards of some sort, which can be combined up to three to modify weapons or player stats.
has perma-death, so once you die you can't go back to that level.
however, after dying you get to keep one of your cards.
possibly net play for up to four player goodness.

A directional shooter (like Asteroids) where you have to ram as many passing innocent ships as possible with your space truck. Bonus points for knocking ships into other ships.

"Hak Man"

Esentially Pac Man. Turned into a survival horror, "neverending nightmare" arcade game.

The graphics are very much Silent Hill like (decayed, disturbing etc.) yet the perspective is still (more or less) top down with maze-y levels.
Your are chased by "ghosts" (of different "personalities", like in the original pac man) which are of course less like funny colourful things and all that and more like incarnations of surpressed childhood traumas.)
The maze is mostly dark with some light-sources here and there and the player is equipped with a flash-light. Enemies which move in the dark are not invisible but hard to spot. Contact with the ghosts of course results in losing a life and a gruesome, gruesome death animation with horrible sound effects. Of course most of the sound is unerving anyway. The growls and moans of the "ghosts", the music, the frantic breathing of the player character running for his/her life.
The player can pick up pills to increase his score but mostly has to find the exit. Or the key to the exit. Or the key to the door the key which leads to the exit.
The game speed is quite a bit slower than in PacMan but not in a "lets take it easy on the player"-kind of way and more in a creeping, terrifying way... which of course would have to be achievied through less open maze-layouts and slower enemies.
Big Pills are special meds that get the player character "back into the real world" for a short while which turns the "ghosts" back into friendly collegues, family members or whatever until the nightmare creeps in a gain and everything goes dark and creepy again.

Playing some Silent Hill 2 recently reminded me of Pac Man for some reason...
I always understood Pac Man as a horror game (it kind of freaks me out to this day) so this reimagining isn't all that far fetched for me.

Oo, I really want to do a Pac Man like game where the rules change as you play for no real reason. Like an overly happy voice just pops up now and again and goes "don't touch the big pills!" or "run from the lava!" or "don't press left!".

A game like GTA but you do really weird tasks like killing a mobster but making sure your plants have been watered so they are ready for the big show :D

Also a game which is a RTS crossed with a Tycoon game.... halo wars + city tycoon = best game ever!!!

Hi! I just want to share an idea for a game I've thought of. I have a couple of ideas so I may share them later but I wanted to do this idea first. My experience with indie development is really only using a simple programming language called scratch (scratch.mit.edu) and I have a book on java. I play lots of indie games too.

My idea is a game called 'Boss Is Mad'. In it you are a man who gets a job at a company called 'the company' (I need to figure out a better name for it... Tongue). Your boss is really ticked off and wants you to do tons of stuff. Boss yells a job for you to do and you must quickly rush to the right area and complete a short 5-10 second minigame and get back to him. If you take too long his anger meter increases and your self-esteem meter decreases. If you do it in time your self-esteem meter increases and Boss' anger meter decreases. If his anger meter is 0 and your self esteem meter is 100, you get promoted and win. If Boss' anger meter is 100 and your S.E. meter is 0, you get fired (literally, you catch fire and Boss throws you out a window).

Please give feedback and maybe how I should program it. If I made it, it would be for PC.

I've realized that I put this in a thread that's for feedback on playable tests of games. Sorry, could an admin move this to another area of the forums.

The self esteem meter sounds redundant.
