Haha :D I was sure that I werent the first one to thought it in modern technological context. Though I dismissed the QR codes since at least here in Finland they are still rather rare while bar-codes can be found essentially everywhere. I'd love to make a game like this but unfortunately I think I probably wouldn't have resources, programming skills (for barcode part) or time for it alone :/

Where the heck would these codes be found at? Geocaching or something?

Yeah, I don't really have what it would take to make it a game either (and there's something else I'm working on anyway). I'll still mock it up someday though.

They're all over advertising in Toronto now. I know they've been a thing in Japan for a decade.

Hmm... This QR/barcode thing is pretty interesting. My variation of this would probably be something like Magic the Gathering meets chess/TBS-games, where you could build your "deck" of units, items, terrain modifications, etc. by codes scanned from different products and places, maybe with a daily limit. And because supply of "cards" is infinite, units lost are sometimes gone for ever, but hey you can get new ones pretty easily. Also the trading aspect of things. Tumetsu, how about a collaboration on this?

Also for the greedy devs there's always possiblity to sell cards via ingame shop.

Sounds interesting though I'd probably leave TBS out and perhaps focus more on trading and battling. Kinda like Pokemon or those Scannerz games. And then there might be some perhaps more creative possibilities like the dungeon idea I mentioned. Though TBS like Fire Emblem or Advance Wars might also work with this.

Yeah a pokemon-like would also be cool (Codemon?)

Also a cool thing would be if players geographical location would affect the game. It could be fun that you couldn't get everything by staying in same location. Importing/exporting mosters to nearby cities... Cool or not? Geocaching also. Some rare monsters would be placed at certain coordinates and finding them could be awesome (or tedious).

So let's do this?

[EDIT] I also found a java library named "zebracrossing" that handles recognizing and decrypting barcodes and QR codes.

A two-player first person shooter, somewhat like Army of Two or something, but where close camaraderie is entirely necessary. You will need to take a bullet for your friend if need be.

I do this a lot in TF2, since the Medic heals over time. But does anyone thank me for this? Noooooo.

Wrote this down in a journal last week.

Quote from: Player 3
It has been a common tradition of Aeric rulers to leave their inheritance to the public weeks before their deaths every hundred ᴁyears in the form of a treasure hunt. Every time, the money has been found in not only obscure places, but also places practically impossible for the middle class to get to. The first time this happened, it was at the bottom of the sea, placed in a sunken submarine's medicine cabinet (the finder has spent more than earned). Hundred ᴁyears ago, it was digitally stored on an LR (LaseRecord) disc disguised as a Delightfully Delightful Delights album, the worst-rated band of 1916 ᴁD. Think you have the frijoles to seek it out yourself?

Inspired by that thread about realism, here is a game idea:

A roguelike esque first person survival game. You play as a an airplane crash survivor stranded in a hue randomly generated island. Your goal is to survive until the cavalry finds you and arrives. No easy task at all, you need to find food and shit all the time. Hunger and health play important roles: Hunger determines your stamina, and the hungrier you are, the weaker you will be and the lower endurance you will have; health means you have to deal with sickness and wounds (to a degree, perhaps standard limbs/head/torso setup) - eat something poisonous and you will vomit it and drop your endurance down to near zero. Expect halluctinations and running away from predators. During nights you will need to set up fireplaces and stuff to endure the weather. The whole point is that its just you and the nature. Perhaps the player will have the option to carve stuff into stones and maybe draw stuff on the sand for whatever purpose he wants.

Idea would be making it relative short and hard. Perhaps certain "game seed" parameters could be set up, like a range of days when the rescue ship might show up. Dont forget to save your flares!

you stand holding your iphone at your side.
you swing your arm as if throwing a ball under arm.
at some point you touch the screen which simulates releasing the ball
(the app calculates and projects the balls trajectory in space)
you then have to move your iphone in space in order to "see" the ball in the air (the iphone screen uses the camera to show the scene directly in front of the phone)
if the ball is outside the screen you see a red arrow at the edge of the screen to indicate the position of the ball
you touch the iphone screen to "shoot" the ball when you see it on the screen

using this same technique you could play "catch" with another iphone

Play as a teenage survivor after the global nuclear apocalypse, trying to gather as many capable partners as you can and fend off dangerous mutants. Your goal? To create the greatest rock band ever seen in the wasteland.
